Integrates diverse data sources and streamlines ETL processes effectively
Regarding potential areas of improvement for Azure Data Factory, there is a need for better data transformation, especially since many people are now depending on DataBricks more for connectivity and data integration. Azure Data Factory should consider how to enhance integration or filtering for more transformations, such as integrating with Spark clusters. I am satisfied with Azure Data Factory so far, but I suggest integrating some AI functionality to analyze data during the transition itself, providing insights such as null records, common records, and duplicates without running a separate pipeline or job. The monitoring tools in Azure Data Factory are helpful for optimizing data pipelines; while the current feature is adequate, they can improve by creating a live dashboard to see the online process, including how much percentage has been completed, which will be very helpful for people who are monitoring the pipeline.

Modern analytics has transformed large data into faster insights and streamlined reporting
There are some areas of improvement I would mention regarding SAS Viya Platform. New users may find it complex initially, as its learning curve can be steep. Understanding CAS and different components is very challenging for a new user. The cost is also quite high; SAS Viya Platform via SaaS can be expensive compared to some open-source or other cloud alternatives. There are also some limitations in Visual Analytics. While it is easy to use, it could be more flexible compared to Power BI or Tableau. These are the main improvement areas where SAS Viya Platform should focus. I would add some additional pointers about needed improvements in SAS Viya Platform. Regarding customer support, it is good, but the response time for complex issues can sometimes be slower than expected. The documentation and learning resources are not very beginner-friendly, making it challenging for beginners to navigate. Regarding integration, it could be smoother with Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI, but it is more complex than it should be. Since updates are automatic, users are sometimes not fully aware of changes or new features that are being updated, as compared to Power BI, which publishes updates on its website. SAS Viya Platform should work on these aspects.

Pros

"The tool's most valuable features are its connectors. It has many out-of-the-box connectors. We use ADF for ETL processes. Our main use case involves integrating data from various databases, processing it, and loading it into the target database. ADF plays a crucial role in orchestrating these ETL workflows."
"From what we have seen so far, the solution seems very stable."
"The solution can scale very easily."
"The most valuable feature of this solution would be ease of use."
"The scalability of the product is impressive."
"We have found the bulk load feature very valuable."
"I value the integration capabilities with other platforms and software in Azure Data Factory the most."
"Data Factory's best features are simplicity and flexibility."
"SAS Viya Platform is a very advanced platform at the current time, and I recommend using SAS Viya Platform for all data visualization, data analysis, and statistical analysis."
"Since starting to work with SAS Viya Platform, the positive impact we have seen includes improvements in distributing data sets for better analytics and machine learning."
"Eliminating the need for separate visualization tools has greatly affected my team's workflow because it is just one integrated tool, one integrated platform."
"SAS Viya Platform has positively impacted my organization by saving time compared to when we were using SAS 9.4, as we can now work on two to three projects simultaneously within one hour, which is a significant improvement."
"SAS Viya Platform is a great tool for our data analytics purpose, particularly how data profiling stands out compared to other tools impressed me."
"SAS Viya Platform has positively impacted my organization, as previously I was using SAS 9.4, and after migrating to SAS Viya Platform, we are able to present the data in useful ways that save our time and give sponsors a new opportunity to look at the data, which is a very good thing."
"Using SAS Viya Platform allows my organization to conduct advanced statistical tests, present data in better ways with efficient and good graphical representation, and this helps my company grow more."
"Using SAS Viya Platform, I saw approximately a thirty to forty percent reduction in data processing time due to CAS in-memory computing, and I also reduced manual reporting efforts by approximately forty to fifty percent through automation and self-service dashboards, which definitely saved resources for my organization."

Cons

"I have not found any real shortcomings within the product."
"Some prebuilt data source or data connection aspects are generic."
"Integration of data lineage would be a nice feature in terms of DevOps integration. It would make implementation for a company much easier. I'm not sure if that's already available or not. However, that would be a great feature to add if it isn't already there."
"The tool’s workflow is not user-friendly. It should also improve its orchestration monitoring."
"Azure Data Factory can improve the transformation features. You have to do a lot of transformation activities. This is something that is just not fully covered. Additionally, the integration could improve for other tools, such as Azure Data Catalog."
"As far as customer service and support with Azure Data Factory, we are not always satisfied with the response time."
"Snowflake connectivity was recently added and if the vendor provided some videos on how to create data then that would be helpful."
"When we initiated the cluster, it took some time to start the process."
"I think SAS Viya Platform could be improved as it is a little bit limited; for instance, you have to purchase specific features such as charts and quality control, so it is not a full analytics product."
"I would advise others looking into using SAS Viya Platform to go ahead if their budget allows."
"SAS Viya Platform has a bit of a learning curve. It was not easy to start with."
"I have one complaint about SAS Viya Platform: it offers so many options in each application that someone new who is not familiar with SAS functionality might have trouble, as the learning curve can be very hard for a new learner."
"On the SAS compute server, the platform sometimes gets stuck or lags, which could be improved in SAS Viya Platform."
"The cost is also quite high; SAS Viya Platform via SaaS can be expensive compared to some open-source or other cloud alternatives."
"I sometimes experienced downtime with SAS Viya Platform, but the SAS support team helped."
"I rate it a nine because for a fresher, the platform might not be entirely intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price you pay is determined by how much you use it."
"Pricing is comparable, it's somewhere in the middle."
"The licensing model for Azure Data Factory is good because you won't have to overpay. Pricing-wise, the solution is a five out of ten. It was not expensive, and it was not cheap."
"The cost is based on the amount of data sets that we are ingesting."
"The pricing is pay-as-you-go or reserve instance. Of the two options, reserve instance is much cheaper."
"It's not particularly expensive."
"There's no licensing for Azure Data Factory, they have a consumption payment model. How often you are running the service and how long that service takes to run. The price can be approximately $500 to $1,000 per month but depends on the scaling."
"My company is on a monthly subscription for Azure Data Factory, but it's more of a pay-as-you-go model where your monthly invoice depends on how many resources you use. On a scale of one to five, pricing for Azure Data Factory is a four. It's just the usage fees my company pays monthly."
