Cloud storage has simplified team data access and provides reliable, globally available redundancy
The first thing I find really useful about Azure Blob Storage is that it is a cloud service running on the cloud. Using cloud storage, all the things are actually running on the cloud and they are managed by the cloud vendor. Microsoft is managing the backend things. I am just monitoring and managing the things, and I do not need to think about the physical things, upgrades, and all those things. That is managed by the OEM, which is a good thing. Additionally, it is globally available anywhere, so there are advantages in communications with the clients and all those things from that side. The main benefit that Azure Blob Storage provides for me is redundancy. They have multiple types of redundancy from the storage perspective, such as local redundant storage and zone redundant storage. Data will be available anytime, and that kind of assurance they are giving us is actually the main reason I can say for the Azure perspective. Access is one area where Azure Blob Storage can improve, as they have multiple types of storage. In Blob Storage, they also have file shares and queue storage. I have not seen any issues with Azure Blob Storage right now, and the access features allow us to grant the minimum level of access to the users, so users can only read the data. I can say those are also good features from an Azure Blob Storage perspective, and I have not seen anything negative there.

Unified storage has simplified private cloud operations and delivers strong security and ROI
Regarding areas for improvement, I think Data Lens could be enhanced from Nutanix's side, but it has been a long time since I logged into that console, so I do not remember much. It is a SaaS-based offering on the Nutanix portal. It is not something you deploy on-premises; it is not on-prem access. You connect your cluster to the SaaS-based Nutanix and then access the Lens console. I need to check it since it has been almost two or three months since I logged in. Nutanix Enterprise AI actually needs to improve a lot if I compare it with any other product such as NVIDIA and other offerings in the market. Nutanix Enterprise AI still requires a lot of work. I did not check that in much detail technically, but whatever I thoroughly checked, it still lags behind in many features. When it comes to AI-related features, I think the ecosystem of Nutanix is not as big as NVIDIA because NVIDIA has its own inferencing system and model training platform such as NeMo, NeMoTron, and others. Nutanix does not have such things. It can be built using NVIDIA CUDA libraries, but what I saw when I was testing the product is that you can run NVIDIA NeMo and PyTorch and two other things, but as a software, Nutanix does not have an end-to-end platform. That is something Nutanix should focus on.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Azure Blob Storage is globally available anywhere, allowing for good communication with clients and taking advantage from that side."
"The main benefit that Azure Blob Storage provides for me is redundancy."
"The availability of the environment is incredible, and with Prism Central, you're able to diagnose and go over issues quickly."
"It removes a layer of aggregation to present storage to end users, so we do not have Windows file servers. This benefits our company by reducing one of our attack planes from a cybersecurity perspective, so we do not have to worry about the OS."
"We transitioned from a three-tier architecture to Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS). With the Files offering out of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), we were able to migrate those shares with a smaller footprint."
"In the beginning, when they sold us Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), they told us the performance would be 30%. Then we came to them and said, 'You are a liar. It's not 30%, it's 800% increase.'"
"The most valuable features of the solution are replication and backup and our company needs a tool to help us with disaster recovery and the security of our data."
"The best features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) are its simplified management, scale, and performance; data services can be easily consolidated, which help in disaster recovery services, replication, and reducing complexity and costs associated with this architecture."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward. With a few clicks, you can stand up your storage. It reduces the overall life cycle of deployment within the ecosystem."
"The scalability, ease of use, and technical support are the most valuable features of Nutanix Unified Storage."

Cons

"A proper monitoring dashboard would help, allowing us to see the usage and IO utilization."
"The initial setup for Azure Blob Storage is right now simple, but they could improve the implementation in the future, particularly around configuration, access-related management, and related things."
"The escalation process with technical support could do with some improvement."
"The graphical user interfaces could benefit from more attention to detail."
"While Unified Storage has evolved a lot over time, its database handling needs to improve a little. There could be an improvement in terms of costs. It's a little expensive for Brazil but still delivers a lot of performance."
"The product needs to work a bit more on its ransomware detection capabilities."
"The GUI is easy to use, but it's complex to do tasks from the command line. That is one way they could simplify things for the engineers. People tend to use a graphical interface more than the command line interface. If anything goes wrong, we need to do troubleshooting from the CLI. It would be nice if there were more ways to fix issues within the GUI."
"The training programs could be improved. It's quite challenging to find adequate learning resources online, as there isn’t much available on the internet or YouTube."
"In summary for improvements, I would say stay on the integration path, keep those integrations heavy, and let us use the software and technologies with everybody."
"The integration feature with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) could be improved, maybe into a more stabilized version."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Its pricing is good to okay. It is not super inexpensive, but it is still competitive. Everything could always be lower."
"The cost of Nutanix Unified Storage can be prohibitive for some small and medium-sized businesses, making it challenging for them to adopt the product."
"The price of the license is expensive when comparing it to traditional storage."
"In the manufacturing industry, we operate under very lean principles where costs are heavily scrutinized. There was some initial hesitation, but the performance we've experienced since switching to the Nutanix platform, along with the peace of mind from having confidence in our platform to not give us issues that keep us up at night, has smoothed over much of that scrutiny."
"It is quite expensive otherwise as it comes with three-tier peer underlying hardware."
"It is not too high for what we are using."
"It is competitive with other vendors, but you get more for your dollars. It is fairly priced, but not cheap."
"I find Nutanix Files Storage competitively priced, even its feature set. Its price is seven out of ten."
