Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The MARS agent makes it easy to use.""The tool has a lot of features.""Azure Backup is very simple to use and user-friendly.""I like that it's a simple system.""First of all, you can schedule a backup for the client. You can schedule it as you like. You can also control the bandwidth, so the backup will not utilize. The internet will depend on the bandwidth.""The product is very reliable and easy to use.""The best aspect of the solution is its backup functionality.""The product is cost-effective compared to other vendors."

More Azure Backup Pros →

"The solution offers good documentation.""The biggest feature is being able to do a file recovery to the original server. That is extremely useful and has saved us a few times when we've had ransomware. In some of those cases, people's computers were locked down by viruses which spread to things they had access to, including server shares. But we were easily able to just restore to four hours prior, instead of a day or two or more ago.""One of the most valuable features was the usability, since many of the features were very straightforward. The backup and restoration process was also very fast. Although we weren't able to fully test the scenarios, one of the features was that we could have it restored on a remote site. However, since we were on-prem, we weren't able to test the remote site restoration.""The most valuable feature of Quorum OnQ is quick recovery.""The most valuable feature is spinning up a ready-to-go VM in a test or production environment that is based on a backup stored on the Quorum device.""The change in the way that Quorum processes data has made a tremendous improvement in backup and replication times. While the familiar interface remains, the underpinnings have been finely tuned and the speed is incredible. My large Exchange Server went from 5- to 6-hour backups down to 22 minutes.""One of the biggest features is that, even on the absolutely run-of-the-mill box, if I lose any one of my servers I can automatically bring it up virtually on the physical onQ Quorum device.""Being able to spin up a machine in a sandbox is amazing because it allows us to test things that we otherwise would not be able to do."

Cons
"It still does not have a lot of customization, especially if your workloads are not in Azure.""It would be beneficial to receive alert messages if something isn't configured correctly, for instance, if service principal names are missing, a message could prompt you to set them up.""I would like to have the option to increase the frequency of the backups. Azure Backup does backups on an hourly basis, but I would prefer it to take backups more often.""We would like to see some kind of notification given to the user that a file was not synchronized well or what may have happened.""The user interface is a little bit confusing and it could be better.""In Avamar, the file-based restores are very quick and fast, whereas, in Azure Backup, VM restore is super easy, but if I have to do a file or a folder restore, I have to mount the entire VM image. I have to wait for some time for it to be mounted, and then I have to go inside and then check the file and copy it somewhere. It's a bit of a manual process, whereas in Avamar, you can directly select a file and folder, and it'll recover with whatever permissions you want.""The time required to restore files should be a little faster.""While Azure Backup allows ingress data, the egress data is chargeable, which should be excluded."

More Azure Backup Cons →

"I paid for subscription of Firewall. I paid for subscription of endpoint protection. Thet should introduce single subscription for all services.""I don't love the scheduler, as I think that interface could use an overhaul.""The price is high and could be more competitive.""Quorum OnQ can be improved by providing support for other operating systems like Ubuntu.""There seems to be a lack of technicians. Sometimes they are very busy and I don't hear back for a day or two. The technicians they have are great. They are fantastic, but it seems difficult, at times, to get in contact with anyone.""There was a situation I faced in the past when I contacted the tool's support team, and it took them a while to respond.""Quorum OnQ's user interface is not very attractive and should be made more attractive.""At times the email notifications don't go out, but a quick reset always fixes that problem."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing of this solution is ok, but I'm expecting that the price will decrease in the future."
  • "The pricing of this solution is good, and it is one of the easiest things that you can sell Azure with."
  • "This is an expensive solution in the Bangladesh marketplace."
  • "We are paying about $100,000 USD per year, just for a couple of servers."
  • "The price is pretty good, maybe $30 for a machine, I can't complain."
  • "It is a bit costly initially, but it is well worth it in the long run, especially for fighting against a number of threats, such as ransomware, which the IT industry is facing."
  • "Price-wise, it's similar to AWS."
  • "The price is somewhat high and could be lower."

  • "We have never questioned whether it is worth it because it so obviously is a great value."
  • "When we first got the Quorum the licensing was different."
  • "The cost is higher than other software and services, but it is an absolute must-have."
  • "The total for our current solution's licensing is about $14,000 for 12 servers for three years."
  • "The pricing is about $1,400 a month. It's a little bit on the higher side. But it's one of those situations where time is valuable for me. So if it costs a little bit more money for me to have a solution that just works and requires less of my day-to-day management, I'm willing to pay a little bit more."
  • "The initial expenditure for us was a little under $40,000 for the recent renewal. For the first three years after that, other than electricity, there's no cost. After that, their support contract has to be renewed annually. We spent close to $6,000, between the two offices, for support."
  • "When we quote the price of Quorum to customers, they find it expensive."
  • "The upfront cost of purchasing a license for the hardware is quite steep."

    Overview

Azure Backup is a scalable backup solution with zero capital investment and minimal operational expenses that can help a company achieve maximal data protection. Azure Backup’s System Center Data Protection Manager provides optional integrations that can enable you to protect both advanced workloads running in your datacenter in VMs as well as those that are on physical servers.

Azure Backup has many features that make it a most effective product. Included among these is its ability to easily scale up your storage capacity. It taps into the cloud to give you the ability to expand on a massive scale. This can be done without any monitoring or maintenance overhead.

    Benefits of Azure Backup

Some of the benefits of using Azure Backup include:

    • The ability to control and track the performance of your network from a single centralized location. Azure Backup has a “single pane of glass” interface that enables users to monitor, operate, govern, and analyze their backups from one place. This eliminates any need to add additional management infrastructure. You can manage different workload types, subscriptions, vaults, and regions with Azure’s Backup Center.

    • A wide array of security features allows you to prevent malicious users from doing damage to the system, receive alerts if an unauthorized action takes place, and recover from any damage that results. Azure Backup has authentication requirements built in to protect vital functions, such as the ability to delete backed up data from unauthorized users. If something that impacts the backed up data takes place, users are immediately notified. Azure Backup saves any and all deleted backup data for two weeks. This enables administrators to use recovery points to recover their lost data.

    Reviews from Real Users

There are a number of characteristics that make Azure Backup extremely effective. Two of these are the flexibility that it offers users and its overall effectiveness.

PeerSpot user Ayman Y., an IT manager at NOMAC, notes all of the different backup options that Azure Backup offers. He writes, “It has many features. First of all, you can schedule a backup for the client as you like. You can do a backup from the whole virtual machine as an image. You can do a backup only from files and folders. It has every option. All options are available for the backup, for the restore, for the bandwidth utilization to do backups, even virtual machines or a physical machine. If you need to do a backup of the whole image from the virtual machine, all these options are there.”

PeerSpot user Muzammil M., a senior operations engineer at the AlGosaibi Group, notes the effectiveness of Azure Backup when he writes, “Azure Backup is good because it is entirelycloud-based, which means that you can be 99.9% sure that your backup is safe. This is the reason that I suggest its use for companies that need to back up critical data.”

Quorum onQ is the global leader in 1-click instant recovery, providing full immediate recovery of your critical systems after any storage, system or site failure. It does this by automatically maintaining up-to-date, ready-to-run virtual machine clones of your physical and virtual servers stored on a dedicated appliance – clones that will transparently take over for failed servers within minutes.
