Standardized our Java estate and have reduced licensing costs while maintaining strong support
Azul Zulu's ability to allow us to standardize our Java estate on a single and well-supported platform stands out as one of its best features. This standardization simplifies our compliance audits and ensures all our applications receive timely security updates.Azul Zulu positively impacts our organization by providing a platform that allows us to standardize Java on a well-supported platform. Without the high cost associated with other proprietary vendors, Azul Zulu provides an excellent platform for running our applications.

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We achieved specific outcomes from using Azul Zulu by reducing our Java licensing and support costs by approximately 70% when compared to our previous Oracle contract."
"We've had no issues with stability."
"By implementing SOA, underpinned by Oracle SOA Suite, we have been able to help customers save thousands of dollars by optimizing business processes, shortening software development lifecycles by being more agile and reusing services and APIs, and our business is able to deliver products to the market quicker and cheaper."
"Cost-wise it is a very economical option because I don't have to hire separate iOS developers and Android developers."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle SOA Suite is all the platform's capabilities."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the option to design, and the development can happen at the same time."
"Valuable features include web service development and cloud connectivity."
"With the integration platform in place, it is easier and quicker to make the integrations they need."
"Oracle SOA Suite has been a rock solid enterprise-level tool for many years, with scalability and capacity growth as fundamental principles that enable implementations supporting millions of transactions per day, hundreds of trading partners, and hundreds of web services and APIs."
"My advice is to buy it and use it."

Cons

"Improvements for Azul Zulu could include more automated tools for unused code visibility integrated directly into the standard portal to help further optimize our cloud footprints."
"It needs a better update daemon. At this time the process is manual and could be an issue on multiple desktop deployments."
"Yes, this product is not that stable."
"In our experience, technical support is really bad and needs a lot of work."
"The platform historically has had stability issues with every new release."
"While the product is technically good, my biggest complaint is that there's a lack of the ability to find good support in the IT community for it."
"API Management and BPM both need work, but I believe Oracle is already working on this."
"If the disk space expansion can be made more flexible, not requiring a database restart, it would be a major benefit."
"The solutions can improve the communication or translations between formats, such as JSON and XML. The JSON REST API could improve."
"We had issues with the early versions but lately the product is performing well."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The product is moderately priced."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
