A highly stable tool that needs to improve its security
The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that the tool provides security features, and AWS serves as a certificate of trust for its uses. The tool is easy to set up, and it secures your internet connection, so your IP address and email are not exposed over the internet since the VPN has the ability to mask the IP addresses of users after users get an Amazon ID to use for internet browsing.
Gfrancis Francis - PeerSpot reviewer
Has provided secure remote access for years but inconsistent support delays resolution
Regarding logging and management, while some of the logging is really good, other times it's not so great, and we've had to reach out to Check Point a few times for assistance, and the support we've gained hasn't been up to par with what Check Point usually offers as part of their support. When it comes to improvements, not specifically the remote access VPN, but the support associated with Check Point products has fallen over the last two years, and the response time is much worse, with the first layer of support lacking sufficient knowledge on how to troubleshoot issues.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a very stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Among its most valuable features is how it quickly and easily connects everyone to the VPN service."
"We have more control over the activity that users have on the internal network, thanks to the monitoring offered by Check Point and the security provided by the gateway."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN has positively impacted our organization by centralizing the VPN connections so that we only have one place to manage them, instead of multiple that we had before."
"Check Point has been perfect for protecting us from any type of attack or data theft during remote management."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN helps me secure and protect my data; if a remote user's device has a vulnerability, the VPN helps, as it is very reliable and cost-effective and keeps my data protected so no one can breach it."
"Organizations that already use the Check Point NGFW Solution do not require any additional hardware, which makes the implementation straightforward and reduces the time to go live."
"The IPSec VPN, Mobile Access, and Identity Awareness are three of the blades with which we have been working with since the pandemic. This has given us great mobility, making our network more dynamic."
"I found the MEP feature the most valuable. This has improved users' latency allowing the users to connect to the nearest Azure Check Point VM."

Cons

"Security is an area of concern in the product where the solution needs to improve."
"The knowledge base can be improved for advanced troubleshooting."
"Without a doubt and with the new trends in technology, Check Point should already have a blade with a 2MFA solution and not through some other vendor."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN's connectivity and establishment takes time and needs to be faster."
"When you need to create something, you have to follow many steps and I think that should be simplified."
"The configuration of Check Point Remote Access VPN could be simplified so that there will be no complex steps to configure it and maintain it."
"There was complexity in the initial setup."
"This is the best version we are using, however, if some changes can be made in the next release, I'd like to see adjustments to the time period and internet connectivity."
"The client-side UI is fundamental, and there is nothing to see."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is not completely available for free, especially if you want to use certain features for which the cost is very minimal."
"Organizations that already have the Check Point NGFW need to purchase an additional license to have access to the VPN functionality."
"The solution is pretty expensive. The rating is an eight."
"Regarding pricing, as a global customer, we get a big discount. For us, it's a good return on investment. We need to pay for additional features we want to enable. It seems cheaper than other vendors, but I can't say what it would cost an average customer."
"My understanding is that the pricing and licensing are very competitive, and it's not one of their more expensive products. We buy licenses for the solution and have licenses for the endpoint servers."
"I can say that the licensing costs are charged annually."
"The price of this product is good."
"My company makes yearly payments only towards the licensing costs attached to Check Point Remote Access VPN, as there are no extra costs attached to the product."
"I give the price of the solution a five out of ten."
