Integration with other services has improved migration efficiency
A valuable feature is the schema conversion tool, which allows me to migrate databases, for example, from Oracle to Postgres. The service is fully managed by AWS, which makes it better to use the migration services. It is beneficial to enable phased migration, and the service offers easy integration with other AWS services. The integration of AWS Application Migration Service with AWS makes it a good tool for working with AWS services.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Pros

"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...I rate the solution's support a ten out of ten."
"Live Migration's best feature is that it's free."
"The CloudEndure feature is most valuable because it is user friendly and very simple."
"I rate AWS Application Migration Service a nine out of ten overall."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"The most valuable feature is the live, block-to-block replication."
"Live Migration's best feature is that it's free."
"CloudEndure is a product that I recommend to my customers because it's very easy to implement, configure, and use."
"The low SLA times are valuable. It is very easy to use with a straightforward user setup."
"The instant recovery at DR locations is the most valuable feature. We're required to do periodic DR tests of critical databases, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL. We have recovery point objectives set for specific databases and we need to be able to achieve them. Zerto helps solve that business problem."
"From the recovery point of view while working with HPE Zerto Software, we save a lot in terms of time, money, and resources, especially during critical applications and deployment time, which is less complex compared to other applications."
"The most valuable for us and for my company is that we are replicating most of our production customers to the DR site, and we can do testing whenever we want."
"The near-synchronous replication is key. That has allowed us to provide the low RPOs that we promise. For key systems, that has been the deciding factor."
"I am quite familiar with the user interface. It is easy for me to operate and perform different operations because I am an experienced user. In my opinion, the user interface is easy to understand and operate. The user interface is user-friendly."
"Don't underestimate how good it feels to rollback data instantly."
"The most valuable tool is the dashboard, which allows us to immediately check the DLP status, replication data, and all other data needed to have cleaner and immediate control of the situation."

Cons

"The schema conversion is not included in the document management services itself. Complex formations require additional steps."
"Live Migration has some issues with target setups."
"I think it is important to have more logs, and more details would be great because we have just logged on the client's side, but there weren't many details on the cloud."
"There are some features in the Migration Factory that could be integrated directly into AWS Application Migration Service."
"One drawback to using CloudEndure is that the default is to give one small, lightweight server, which is created in the cloud."
"Live Migration has some issues with target setups."
"One drawback to using CloudEndure is that the default is to give one small, lightweight server, which is created in the cloud."
"We would like to have a disaster recovery feature included in this solution."
"Some of the ability to automate selections and automate VPG creations could be better."
"Zerto is too reliant on VMware's vCenter. It's tough to upgrade, move, or do anything related to virtual servers with vCenter."
"The HPE Zerto Software can be improved with more visibility. It's really hard to find out what stores and what drives I'm using, and then to translate that over to the cloud solution."
"I think Zerto should make the product less expensive, as that's the only reason many people are not registering the product with their companies."
"The improvement that I would like to see is a little bit easier product knowledge, things like that."
"Customer service and technical support need improvement."
"Whenever we do a failover, there's a confirmation box that shows up later. It's a little hard to see sometimes... A popup to continue would be a little bit better because then you're not sitting and waiting for something and it's already there."
"For what we got it for, it does it great. I use a different solution for my disk-to-disk local backups to where I can have a local backup of files. I don't think Zerto does that well to where it keeps a memory of the files that are there. Basically, when something is deleted on Zerto, it gets deleted on the replicated version. So, some sort of snapshotting or something where I could have backups at different points in time of files would be a really helpful tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For me, the price of the tool is cheap and very good. It is flexible pricing since you pay just for what you use."
"Live Migration's price is good."
"The cost is not dirt cheap but also is not terrible."
"As far as I know, the pricing is around $1,000 per VM, but Zerto is changing the pricing model to more of an enterprise-class license. I don't know if there are any additional costs or fees."
"They should adjust the pricing because I feel its price is too much. If they reduce the price, there will be more users and customers."
"I'd like to see better tiering for Zerto's pricing. We do multi-tier VMs. I don't think I should be paying a penalty and price for a tier-three VM where I don't need a really tight SLA like I do for a tier-one."
"Zerto is like a Ferrari. It's very fast but not the cheapest solution. You're paying a high price for quality and the assurance that you will have the environment up and steady."
"Licensing is based on the number of VMs to replicate. The first thing should be to get the number of VMs to replicate based on your business needs."
"It is very expensive. It is overpriced. No doubt. What held us up for many years from committing to buying it was always the cost. That's also why we only have 10 licenses."
"I would like to see different service levels. They're good, but it still takes a lot of our budget in ops."
