I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The GUI interface is nice and easy to use."
"It is easy to integrate with SAP ERP and BW systems, allowing smooth data transfer and live connections without much development."
"It is a comprehensive BI solution that provides reporting, planning, and predictive analytics in one solution."
"We use it for all our reporting right now, everything is happening in SAP, and all dashboards are there, and all data comes through in real-time."
"The platform's main benefit is its integration with SAP ERP data. It’s effective for data integration and integrity."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Business Data Cloud is not really limited to BDC itself, it's the two core applications, which are SAC and Data Sphere, and I think seamless planning is the number one feature that is really advantageous to users and really something that stands out for SAP versus everybody else because no other tool has that feature."
"I like the product's capabilities. The clarity and scenarios are the main features that allow us to forecast using machine learning algorithms and make decisions."
"The visualization feature is the most valuable. SAP Analytics Cloud is also very easy to use."
"I like the connectivity the solution provides with other products, as one can see different data sources, such as SAP ERP and the in-house hub, create a business warehouse, and import multi-dimensional data from flat files and various sources."

Cons

"The organization of the icons is not saved across users."
"There was an issue with the incremental aggregation not working as indicated."
"The product was not able to meet our 10 second refresh requirements."
"The initial setup requires some time to implement and could be more simplified for faster deployment."
"The business intelligence features should be improved because there is a lack of functionality regarding that part."
"I would like to see simpler deployment and out-of-the-box integration with non-SAP systems, as well as enhancements to the self-service analytic features in SAP Business Data Cloud."
"What I dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud is that the way they position the data products is a little confusing for users because it is fundamentally different whether you're using data products that SAP delivers."
"The budget management could be better."
"The analytics part of SAP has not been that good up until now. They're still in the infant stage and development is still going on. SAP has some cloud analytics and they're trying to configure it in Lumira, but it's not that good at this point."
"In the live connection model, we can't create calculated dimensions, however, in the import model we can create them."
"The disadvantage I see for SAP Business Data Cloud is that while it is a powerful platform, it is not a very universal solution due to the high cost of ownership and dependency on data quality, leading to a situation of garbage in, garbage out."
