The GUI interface is nice and easy to use, but the organization of the icons is not saved across users

User features offer accessibility but documentation and technical support require enhancement
The configuration issues I face include troubleshooting that is not very helpful. I keep struggling with that and usually have to go to the Citizen data platform and the marketplace to get the answers I am looking for. The controlled logs and documentation need improvement, particularly regarding how to access class features that they do not control, and documentation in terms of customization and UI customization. Dashboarding needs significant improvement as the widgets are not very clear or usable, and there is not much documentation around it. To make Collibra Lineage better, additional features should be added to help technical users. They have improved significantly in terms of university courses in the last five years, but aspects such as AI governance and data notebook are not being promoted adequately. Data notebook is a very good feature, but there is a mismatch in the courses' speed and how quickly they are giving people the ability to learn about it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The GUI interface is nice and easy to use."
"The most important feature is the ease of use."
"Collibra's lineage is a very powerful feature. We have integrated Collibra with Azure and ADLS storage and we create lineage diagrams using the two tools."
"Collibra is very good at talking to modern database systems like a normal RDBMS, a DB2, or a SQL server or an Oracle."
"Workflow is very helpful and assessment are good features. I really like the structure of this solution and how it is compartmentalized."
"It is user-friendly."
"The solution has good workflows and is based on AIML."
"The most valuable features of Collibra Catalog are its customizability and ease of use."
"The workflow is very good and has been embedded. It also has a great user interface."

Cons

"There was an issue with the incremental aggregation not working as indicated."
"The organization of the icons is not saved across users."
"The product was not able to meet our 10 second refresh requirements."
"There is room for improvement in Collibra Lineage as it could incorporate automation features which would allow it to find data lineage across a data stack independently."
"Pricing policy of the product is an area with certain shortcomings that needs improvement."
"Many other tools like Collibra Governance give you the option to actually see the data in the tool, which is not an option in Collibra."
"There are certain processes that involve a lot of manual work, specifically when searching for attributes assignment. It would be better if we could do this via APIs."
"There is room for improvement in the Collibra Data Catalog regarding data classification and categorization. It struggles to catalog all categories of data, particularly sensitive data on-prem, which GCP Data Catalog handles better."
"There is an issue with Collibra Catalog's pricing model, especially for organizations with many databases, as the initial package comes with a limited number of connectors."
"If someone changes the metadata, we can't see who changed it."
"The platform can sometimes be unstable, particularly in terms of speed and reconnection issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"Collibra Governance is expensive - I would rate its pricing as one out of five."
"Collibra offers a per-user licensing model."
"I would say it's probably in line with what other vendors charge for licensing."
