Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is live replication.""One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature.""The most valuable feature is the duplication.""There are many backup options available in this solution. For example, you are able to do backups of servers, email, OST files, and users. This is a complete backup solution which is very good.""The standard backup and restore feature is most used.""We are satisfied with Arcserve UDP. The most important feature that we use and why we choose this product is the RHA feature.""I would recommend it if there is a general case."

"Its dashboard is quite well done. When you log into the GUI, you can basically see everything you need to know. There is also the possibility to edit the view as you like, which is great.""The interface is very user-friendly.""Having the web-based interface is important to us because we can access it from any computer in the network, rather than having it installed and available for use only on a specific one."

Cons
"Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue.""We could not go into granular details of retrieving backup information.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow.""I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again.""The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial.""Its interface can be improved. I find it unintuitive."

"There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix. There could be better interaction with the development teams, perhaps in terms of transparency.""In the next version, I would like to see support for the MongoDB database. As it is now, there is no component that works with it and we cannot back the data up using NetVault.""There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line. The commands that are there are not that powerful, and you need to be very good at scripting, for example, in PowerShell or in Bash in case it is running on Linux systems. You need to combine a lot of commands together, and still, you will not get a great output that is presentable to others. You cannot work with it as easily."
