Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Automation has reduced manual errors and now needs better high-volume data handling
In my opinion, Appian RPA can be improved. We are planning to conduct a proof of concept on volume because we are still not entirely certain about how well the record type feature performs on Appian with high volumes of data. After conducting client calls with HSBC, Santander, and a few of the Big Four, we learned about use cases where Appian has been used for high volumes of data. We are planning to conduct a proof of concept to test that hypothesis. Additional features that could enhance Appian RPA in the future would include AI on Azure. Currently, their AI is only AWS-based, and we are in discussions with the company about this because we are an Azure shop. I believe this would be a good area for them to concentrate on.

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
I have worked with Microsoft Power Platform and UiPath. Kofax RPA offers a comprehensive solution with built-in capabilities for executing tasks like running Excel files and web automation without additional servers. They provide their browsers and extensions. For functions such as OCR, image processing, and data extraction, Kofax has built-in features powered by their engine, eliminating the need for subscriptions to external technologies like Microsoft Cognitive Services or Google Search. One of Kofax RPA's strongest features is its on-premise solution, which is particularly beneficial for organizations operating in regions with data regulations, such as the UAE.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have saved around 90% of the time that would be required to perform tasks manually."
"The ROI is very good because the output is very accurate and the speed is very fast."
"I found the new feature of integrating Python and HTML the most valuable."
"It removes demotivating, repetitive work from our teams."
"Be it a Windows application, a web application, or a legacy tool, Automation Anywhere is able to achieve automation on these technologies seamlessly."
"Automation Anywhere is a great tool."
"The most valuable part is that it have the integrated OCR solution within it. All the other solutions do not have the right integration of the OCR solutions. You need to go to two different places to get one solution. Whereas, in IQ Bot, there is one area where you get all these solutions together in one area. That is the most important and beautiful point that I like about IQ Bot."
"The most valuable feature in this solution is the IQ Bot."
"Appian RPA is super easy to use, offering low code, no code capabilities."
"The best feature of Appian RPA is that it is highly integrated into the Appian platform itself and is very easy to configure in the end-to-end Appian automation solution."
"I find the pricing of Appian RPA reasonable because it is user-based, and we can experiment with it."
"The drag and drop functionality is quite good."
"Kofax RPA has allowed us to create a program in which the top 100 forms used across the organization are extracted and pushed into a database, from which any team globally can extract the information from those forms."
"If you don't have a computer science background, you can easily use Tungsten RPA because this is a low-code platform and it is easier than other RPA tools."
"This is a stable platform and we did not encounter any big problems."
"Kofax RPA has provided our organization with a lot of savings in many different areas and we have improvements in data quality."
"The product provided all the security controls that we asked them."
"I would definitely recommend this solution."
"The solution is really good and it's rather budget-friendly."

Cons

"There should be more organized training sessions. I prefer interactive classes to one-on-one training. You can create super users and organize conferences or workshops where users can learn from experts. Maybe you only have a few of these super users in your organization, so that's why you need to have workshops on a weekly basis."
"The main disadvantage of Automation Anywhere is its high cost."
"Off the top of my head, I cannot think of anything that they would need to improve on, but there are probably opportunities to explore some potential use cases where maybe there is a feature that is not yet available. We can discover and pioneer something together."
"Automation Anywhere needs to have more testing tools to improve the testing portion of the solution."
"I would like to see web and cloud-based platforms for future releases."
"There have been problems with scalability. It comes down to how we handle the code."
"Reporting could be better because there is a little bit of overkill in getting information about the utilization of the bot license. This could be a little bit improved."
"For improvement, I would like to see Automation Anywhere integrating with multiple other technologies. As of now, it is integrating with .NET. When it come to future technologies, I want Automation Anywhere to integrate with Python scripts, and make the execution easier. That will be very helpful, having our cognitive technologies interacting with Automation Anywhere."
"There are not any areas that need improvement off the top of my head."
"There are many competitive products in the market right now, for example, UiPath and Automation Anywhere. These competitive products are now coming up with features which Appian RPA currently does not have."
"In my opinion, Appian RPA can be improved."
"Automating systems based on Citrix, where using AI or OCR-based capture of a screen, presents challenges."
"Unless it's necessary to interact with or extract information from complex documents, I would recommend choosing a different solution than Kofax RPA."
"We're not really happy with the outcome of one particular complex process."
"The scalability has room for improvement."
"Automation with the latest websites is not effective. The support of newer websites developed using new technologies would improve this solution."
"There is really nothing special about the capabilities of this product."
"This product has room for improvement in support of aviation. The interface could be improved in the next release."
"Its documentation is not widely available on the web. They should work on the availability of its documentation. In Automation Anywhere, there is a feature called Discovery Bot that automatically records the process steps and suggests a possible bot. I am not sure if such a feature is available in Kofax. If it is not available, it will be very good to have this feature. "

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Currently, it stands as one of the more expensive RPA tools available."
"It has good licensing costs which are average for the market."
"Annually, we are paying almost one million reais."
"We are interested in saving manual engineer man-hours. So far, we have saved $100,000."
"They all are very competitive today. At the end of the day, it boils down to the negotiations that happen and what type of partner you are."
"Initially, they charged a premium, but now the rest of the vendors have increased their overall pricing and Automation Anywhere is not that high at this time. It's pretty viable."
"Considering the cost, it is a bit high, but worth the price because the output accuracy is high."
"Based on what I've heard, it's costly, but I don't know much about its pricing."
Information not available
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"The cost depends on the number of licenses and the number of RPAs."
"Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
"Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
"Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
"Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
