The primary use case for this product is high-performance storage.

This product has good performance. It is similar to the Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage FlashArray.

The InfiniBox has three active controllers.

The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution from Pure Storage.

I have proposed an all-flash version of this product. If that were implemented then it would bypass the problem regarding the read cache.

InfiniBox is a very stable solution.

I have approximately 20 years of experience with enterprise solutions. These include various hyper-converged systems, all-flash storage systems, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions for data assurance.

My experience is with products from a lot of different vendors. These include IBM, Dell EMC, Pure, Infinidat, and others. 

The best features come included without any additional cost.

The InfiniBox is more expandable than Pure FlashArray. InfiniBox is more for big data than the Pure product.

The suitability of this solution depends on the customer's environment. Depending on the use case, we propose the right product. Pure Storage is not better than InfiniBox and InfiniBox is not better than Pure Storage. 

In comparing products, I would rate Pure FlashArray an eight out of ten, InfiniBox a seven out of ten, Dell EMC products receive a six out of ten, and all of the other all-flash storage systems that I have experience with would be rated a five out of ten.

With PowerMax, there is a big difference in cost when you start adding more features.

The Pure Storage solution has only two active controllers and one passive controller. InfiniBox has three active controllers, and PowerMax can have up to six active storage controllers.

Overall, this is a good product with good performance. If they had an all-flash version then it would improve the read-request response time and I would rate it an eight out of ten.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Its ease of use, smooth integration into the existing environment, quick and easy management, the number of other features available such as snaps, remote replica, etc are valuable features. Mostly, their support is also great at reacting to issues but moreover, proactive to prevent issues.

It allowed quick implementation of the cross-site replica for disaster recovery.

A quick training of our collaborators allowed them to manage the basic functions and spread the management workload between different people.

InfiniBox needs sync replica. InfiniBox, right now, offers only asynchronous replication between two storages. Many environments do require sync replica between storages. Right now, INFINIDAT offers tools from IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) to fill this gap. Hopefully, INFINIDAT will offer this feature natively soon.

I have used this solution for around six months.

We were running a buggy code and their support monitored our boxes to prevent the impacts; they quickly upgrading them as soon as the fix was available. They detected the possible bug and warned us, without any action from our side.

The solution isn’t scalable by itself. It’s a self-contained storage solution, i.e., if you need more space, buy another box. :-)

I would give the technical support a 10/10 rating.

We have at least three different storage solutions from IBM, EMC and NetApp. INFINIDAT promised better performances and maintained that promise at a lower price point.

The setup is pretty straightforward. INFINIDAT has other trusted third-parties who take care of gathering the details before installation, check the environment and install the system. All I have to do is plug the cables and start managing the storage.

Licensing is pretty straightforward. The license covers any feature and also, the future features are already included. It is as easy as a 1, 2 and 3.

We constantly scout options. The other candidates were IBM, EMC and iXsystems.

Right now, I’m pretty happy and I would definitely suggest this solution to others.
