Storage has supported long-term CCTV archiving and improves on-premises application performance
I think it would be good regarding how Dell PowerVault could improve to have, in addition to the excellent support service that exists, some training courses, forums, and a training school for using these tools. Many people specialize only in this kind of equipment, and others have no idea how to configure them or how they work and always end up depending on people who have spent a long time working with these systems and know how to handle them more because of experience than because of information that can be easily obtained about using this equipment. Everything regarding additional aspects that could be improved in Dell PowerVault has already been mentioned.

Good performance, suitable for big data, but the response time could be improved
The primary use case for this product is high-performance storage This product has good performance. It is similar to the Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage FlashArray. The InfiniBox has three active controllers. The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For us, the initial setup was easy."
"Dell is a good company to work with."
"The most valuable features are that it's easy to set up and I also like the provisioning of storage because it's very easy."
"It helped us improve our whole VMware infrastructure and improve functions there."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"My advice to others who are considering using Dell PowerVault is that it is definitely a reliable, stable platform and an extremely robust player to be considered in any type of project, whether in those where the storage or even performance demand is lower, as well as in projects where the amount of available space is huge and the need for performance is extremely high."
"In my company there are more than 100 users connecting to this server simultaneously and still the I/O operations are very smooth."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is easy to manage and easy to use."
"Mostly, their support is also great at reacting to issues but moreover, proactive to prevent issues."
"Its ease of use, smooth integration into the existing environment, quick and easy management, the number of other features available such as snaps, remote replica, etc are valuable features."
"Overall, this is a good product with good performance."

Cons

"Something that could be improved or enhanced by Dell is more exchange of new information about the technology itself, a broader exchange of suggestions, new contributions, and new insights that we could be implementing in our environment."
"In most instances, clients are using Dell PowerVault with tape drives, but we want to transition them away from tape drives due to the risk of data loss."
"PowerVault doesn't integrate with Active Directory. Other storage solutions offer SAN and NAS unified storage in a single appliance, but PowerVault is only SAN."
"If the solution came with a synchronous application, it would be particularly advantageous for small businesses operating across multiple sites."
"If you do not have an existing relationship with Dell or are exploring the market for the first time, the initial acquisition cost of Dell PowerVault is high compared to competitors such as Hitachi or IBM, which often undercut prices."
"We could set up the installation through a web server, but it's not very reactive on the web server. For example, when you launch a task, and you don't know exactly if the task has begun or if the task is in progress, or if it's finished. You have to wait for three to five to ten minutes to be sure that the task is running or in progress or finished. So at that point, it's not very good."
"There is room for improvement with Dell PowerVault as we did have some promises about dedupe and compression that did not turn out as promised, but Dell trued up and gave us more storage for no cost."
"If we speak about the negative side of Dell PowerVault, I do see some areas for improvement."
"The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution from Pure Storage."
"The solution isn’t scalable by itself. It’s a self-contained storage solution, i.e., if you need more space, buy another box."
"InfiniBox, right now, offers only asynchronous replication between two storages."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Dell PowerVault's price is the tool's main attraction."
"They are offering a wide range of support models for the customers such as basic support that is budget-friendly, but they also provide a professional support solution that is a bit costly"
"The price is reasonable and we are satisfied with it."
"The solution is more cost-effective than the competitors. It’s an affordable option for small businesses."
"I rate the price of Dell PowerVault a nine out of ten."
"I rate Dell PowerVault a six or seven out of ten for pricing."
"I rate the solution's pricing a seven to eight out of ten."
"The cost, compared to other solutions, is on the higher end."
"The license covers any feature and also, the future features are already included. It is as easy as a 1, 2 and 3."
"The best features come included without any additional cost."
