Storage has supported long-term CCTV archiving and improves on-premises application performance
I think it would be good regarding how Dell PowerVault could improve to have, in addition to the excellent support service that exists, some training courses, forums, and a training school for using these tools. Many people specialize only in this kind of equipment, and others have no idea how to configure them or how they work and always end up depending on people who have spent a long time working with these systems and know how to handle them more because of experience than because of information that can be easily obtained about using this equipment. Everything regarding additional aspects that could be improved in Dell PowerVault has already been mentioned.

Good performance, suitable for big data, but the response time could be improved
The primary use case for this product is high-performance storage This product has good performance. It is similar to the Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage FlashArray. The InfiniBox has three active controllers. The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The biggest advantage of the product that really stands out for me is its price and the comparison of price with performance; its price is very good, and the performance according to this price is sufficient based on backup requirements, so it is perfect."
"It helped us improve our whole VMware infrastructure and improve functions there."
"Dell PowerVault is cost-effective as a storage solution, and I see it has competitive pricing with other vendors."
"I would say my favorite features of Dell PowerVault are that it's pretty easy to use, it has been pretty stable, firmware updates have been pretty easy to install, and replacing a bad drive is fairly simple."
"Dell PowerVault is user-friendly and easy to deploy."
"For the video use case where expansion is sometimes required quickly, Dell PowerVault proves to be an excellent solution due to its significant capacity and scalability over time."
"Dell PowerVault has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to scale infrastructure, saving us cloud storage costs by moving them to high availability in physical storage."
"In my company there are more than 100 users connecting to this server simultaneously and still the I/O operations are very smooth."
"Overall, this is a good product with good performance."
"Its ease of use, smooth integration into the existing environment, quick and easy management, the number of other features available such as snaps, remote replica, etc are valuable features."
"Mostly, their support is also great at reacting to issues but moreover, proactive to prevent issues."

Cons

"The tool needs to improve its UI."
"The scalability is present but it is a bit complex to scale to the desired level. When we needed to increase the performance, we faced some issues."
"I could not recommend this solution to others, because the technology is old."
"For Dell PowerVault, the deduplication and compression features need improvement."
"Areas where I feel Dell PowerVault could be improved include especially the enterprise area and multiple interfaces in other areas, for example, backup software solutions and their integration."
"Sometimes, engineers or someone who does not have proper knowledge always give more storage than what is required initially, and then we cannot reduce that storage."
"I would like Dell to improve on the configuration of the disk groups. Only one group is expandable. Once you configure the other disk group types, you cannot expand them. It limits scalability. If you want maybe to grow a disk group, you lose information, and then you need to build it up again, which is not a good use case for customers."
"Dell PowerVault could improve by having a higher cache and file protocol support added."
"The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution from Pure Storage."
"InfiniBox, right now, offers only asynchronous replication between two storages."
"The solution isn’t scalable by itself. It’s a self-contained storage solution, i.e., if you need more space, buy another box."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing model a nine out of ten, with one being expensive and ten being cheap."
"I rate the product price a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"Dell PowerVault's price is the tool's main attraction."

"The best features come included without any additional cost."
"The license covers any feature and also, the future features are already included. It is as easy as a 1, 2 and 3."
