Storage has supported long-term CCTV archiving and improves on-premises application performance
I think it would be good regarding how Dell PowerVault could improve to have, in addition to the excellent support service that exists, some training courses, forums, and a training school for using these tools. Many people specialize only in this kind of equipment, and others have no idea how to configure them or how they work and always end up depending on people who have spent a long time working with these systems and know how to handle them more because of experience than because of information that can be easily obtained about using this equipment. Everything regarding additional aspects that could be improved in Dell PowerVault has already been mentioned.

Good performance, suitable for big data, but the response time could be improved
The primary use case for this product is high-performance storage This product has good performance. It is similar to the Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage FlashArray. The InfiniBox has three active controllers. The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The first aspect of Dell PowerVault that I like is that it is easy to configure."
"The initial setup was easy and simple."
"I find this solution to be cost-effective in providing data storage for clients."
"The features of Dell PowerVault are the smaller storage and cheaper pricing, which is very good compared with any other vendor, making it very cost-effective."
"It has established itself well, proven itself well, and continues to be very well received by smaller mid-sized companies."
"The most valuable features are that it's easy to set up and I also like the provisioning of storage because it's very easy."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is easy to manage and easy to use."
"In my company there are more than 100 users connecting to this server simultaneously and still the I/O operations are very smooth."
"Its ease of use, smooth integration into the existing environment, quick and easy management, the number of other features available such as snaps, remote replica, etc are valuable features."
"Mostly, their support is also great at reacting to issues but moreover, proactive to prevent issues."
"Overall, this is a good product with good performance."

Cons

"The product could support an NVMe hard disk."
"Only once when the storage array seem to be very slow and caused VMware Hosts to not see the volumes."
"I have experienced issues with the stability and reliability as more known features concerning controller management and controller management ports mostly stuck, and I have to reboot the management controller."
"I would like Dell to improve on the configuration of the disk groups. Only one group is expandable. Once you configure the other disk group types, you cannot expand them. It limits scalability. If you want maybe to grow a disk group, you lose information, and then you need to build it up again, which is not a good use case for customers."
"Dell PowerVault is block-oriented storage only."
"The negative aspect I mentioned is regarding the support; sometimes I spend a lot of time explaining issues and it is not time-effective."
"I already see disadvantages in Dell PowerVault where if we can work to increase the storage up to 10 tera, for example, this will be better."
"In the next release, I would like the deduplication and compression included, as well as the flash technology. It doesn't currently use it."
"InfiniBox, right now, offers only asynchronous replication between two storages."
"The solution isn’t scalable by itself. It’s a self-contained storage solution, i.e., if you need more space, buy another box."
"The response time for read requests can be improved. It is not as good as the solution from Pure Storage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is reasonable and we are satisfied with it."
"I rate the product price a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"The price of Dell PowerVault could be reduced. It is more expensive than some IBM solutions."
"It is important to remember that the retail price may seem high, but the final price is usually different."
"I rate the price of Dell PowerVault a nine out of ten."
"The product is inexpensive."
"I rate the solution's pricing a seven to eight out of ten."
"The cost, compared to other solutions, is on the higher end."
"The best features come included without any additional cost."
"The license covers any feature and also, the future features are already included. It is as easy as a 1, 2 and 3."
