It is one of the best solutions that exist today. The costs are high, yet, in general, any GWs solution is. It is good that they support themselves with partners. Partners help clients understand the product and can request tests of the product before purchasing it to know if it is what the business is looking for.

Check Point offers a good price for its products. It is worth making the investment since this can prevent vulnerabilities.

You should analyze your needs and purchase regarding to that analysis. Most of the time, you want to use only some features. Don't pay too much.

It is important to value the support of a checkpoint partner to validate the tools, and the costs, in addition to seeing the product more closely. Some costs are high.

You have to get good advice as there are many blades that may not require or may need them. It is better to do a proof of concept first with the Check Point vendor and see all its features.

Check Point is much cheaper than the competition ($4/server as compared to $17/server).

All of our administrators have previously been on CCSA/CCSE training which provides good insights into the products. After various tests, we were able to carry out most of the setup ourselves in a developer environment. We were able to keep the costs for the migration low by using a lot of our own initiative. However, I would recommend the support of a Check Point certified partner. Together with a Check Point partner (service provider), the requirements should be evaluated. Here, we were able to draw on the experience of our service provider and develop our environment according to our requirements.

Check Point seems to be reasonable with its pricing, and competitive in the market.

It's not the cheapest solution, but one of the most advanced and competent.

Check Point licenses work very differently compared to other vendors. We need to purchase each blade in order to make it work, but we can easily obtain a trial (evaluation) license from Check Point to get visibility for the blade. Check Point tries to maintain relationships with customers and they try to match their price with customer expectations.

I would advise others that it's definitely a great investment to have Security Management across your infrastructure.

This product can be used for 25 security gateways on a basic license. I think that this is good value for the money.

The pricing is in line with its competition, like Fortinet. Sometimes applying licensing in products gets a bit messy. We will apply for a license on the manager, specifically for the firewall, but you still see the firewall complaining it doesn't have any rights. In this case, we need vendor support to fix this kind of situation. We need to devise whether we need to have remote sessions with regard to why the firewall is complaining. There must be some kind of protection for the people not to flip licenses that they shouldn't. Sometimes when you buy a new firewall, the licensing is not straightforward to apply. After we fix it, we never have issues again.

The Check Point solutions in general are not cheap, so your company should have a dedicated budget for security.

The client of the management needs to be improved. The solution is a bit slow. The speed should be improved. If there is a possibility to use the URL instead of client management in a future release, that would be ideal. In the last version from 80.20, there are some issues around SSNA Diction. I would like this to be improved.

We had a lot of problems with the VPN blade on the solution. We sometimes have trouble with the performance of the solution. Maybe some performance tuning options could be added in a future release. There should be more visibility about which blade in your firewall is causing the latency. That would be nice as well.
