Our experience with pricing and setup costs regarding Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points has been positive overall. Although the initial investment was higher than some alternative wireless solutions, the hardware deployment and supporting infrastructure such as PoE, controllers, and management need to be considered as part of the total cost. Licensing is also an important factor because Catalyst 9100 is deployed using a Catalyst 9800 controller. Licensing typically is needed for three, five, or seven years. We feel the investment is justified by the reliability, security, centralized management, and operational visibility we get. The biggest improvement for us has been the reduction in operational effort and troubleshooting time, which helps offset the higher upfront costs over the lifecycle of the solution.
Regarding pricing, Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are not cheap, but I find them not very expensive. They fall into the normal range for enterprise wireless solutions. Even compared to competitors, the pricing is similar, and there is value in paying for these access points.
