The best part is that you can integrate a two-way network. Earlier we could not manage the storage and ToR switch. Now we can create a LAN with our storage without any interface.

In terms of switch management, it is now easy to understand the current configuration. It provides centralized management. It provides a single pane, and you can easily do all updates in one shot. It is a great product.

The OneView Global Dashboard is very user-friendly and it can be used for monitoring the power consumption and temperature of the data center and racks.

We could literally swap out a piece of hardware, slide one back into the chassis, and immediately - about three reboots later - it was identical. We didn't have to worry about configuring it, we didn't have to spend any time getting anything into place. It came back and it healed the environment almost immediately.

I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.

Hi peers, Is it required for your company to conduct a security review before purchasing an infrastructure monitoring solution?  What are the common materials you use in the review?  Do you have any tips or advice for the community and any pitfalls to watch out for?

I would start focussing on the used acounts and their privileges, other components aren't that interresting security wise. But the used accounts are probably over privileged as my experience has showed my before.

IT security is an ongoing exercise, with some sporadic penetration testing. SOC should be closely coupled to NOC, especially in terms of log management, traffic capture and analysis (for heuristics/forensics), connectivity/management, DNS security, WAF, etc. So it's more than security review before deploying NOC, it's rather complete integration with due proper design and planning.
