User-friendly, has a good training content library and training videos, but it is not effective and the customization has limitations
Pros and Cons
  • "The GUI works well and it is really well built."
  • "The ability for customization has limitations."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for training, phishing email tests, new hire tests, and training campaigns.

What is most valuable?

There are several training courses and well-put-together edited videos.

It's good presentable training, which is very valuable.

The amount of tools that are provided to be able to respond to different things is very important. Rather than send an email with full text to advise them of breaking the rules, it is easier to send a training course that has an interesting video.

The GUI works well and it is really well built.

What needs improvement?

We used it with one or two of our clients and were not impressed with it, so we stopped using it. We started using an alternative.

We had a client who was looking for Security Awareness Training. We were using Weber but the client was not happy with it. We are using a different solution.

The ability for customization has limitations. With the different phishing emails and different templates, you weren't really able to change specific things that we had wanted, or make specific changes that we felt comfortable with. When it came to sending it out to our users, it seemed to make it more confusing than it did to actually solving anything.

It wasn't as effective as we had originally hoped just based on the content we were able to send out.

They may have made some changes but during the time we used it, it just was not effective, and it didn't work with as many of the users as we would have liked.

For how long have I used the solution?

We used this solution for approximately one year.

We were using it until the end of 2020. At that time we were using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It seems to be quite stable.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't worked with them in regards to the security awareness training. I have only worked with Webroot support in regards to antivirus. And their technical support has not been great.

They are slow to respond almost to the point where we're actually kind of considering moving away from Webroot or at least have kind of started looking to additional options.

There were a couple of issues that, their support team just cannot seem to fix. Based on my experience I would give their support team, zero out of ten.

They have never been able to fix anything for us.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was super easy. You get it set up with your email. It is one of those things where it is sending out emails to your employees.

It is not complicated to set up.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's not expensive, but it's not cheap. We were able to find an alternative that had more open-source and more customization that was at a cheaper price point.

It is a little pricey for what it does, but you have to take into account the content library they provide you with, such as the videos, and the training courses, which is a big part of what you are paying for.

What other advice do I have?

Before diving into using this solution, make sure that you do some testing.

Push it out to just a group of your users or explore a bit before you just dive straight into it.

I feel like because of our experience. It was a situation where they did an initial test and then they were impressed with some of the features, but once they started to use it, they realized that it was not really what they wanted.

If anything, it was more than we needed. We were paying all this money for this solution, but we're really not getting that much use out of it.

Try to utilize the features before you go with it.

They do have really well-designed content, a good GUI, and it's very user-friendly, but the reliability and the actual email content that gets sent out needs to be more customizable.

I would rate Webroot Security Awareness Training a six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
