Helps us log into virtual machines like VMware Horizon
Pros and Cons
  • "We use this solution to log into virtual machines like VMware and VMware Horizon."
  • "The problem with SafeNet is that it's not integrated with Microsoft 365."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to log into virtual machines like VMware and VMware Horizon.

The solution is deployed on a hybrid cloud.

What is most valuable?

It's a good solution, but it doesn't fit our use case.

What needs improvement?

The problem with SafeNet is that it's not integrated with Microsoft 365. That was the breaking point for us.

The security is a little bit redundant because if you have already unlocked your phone, then you have to open the application with a new PIN code. From the user's perspective, it's a bit redundant.

Also, we cannot give an account to a third party or client to use. For example, if one of the colleagues has their token deleted for some reason and they need a new one, we have to call the service desk of our IT partner and they will send a new one when they have time. It can take a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of one day because it's an authentication solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's not very stable. It has crashed many times, and there are some issues with the tokens. Sometimes the token will be deleted or locked. If you forget your PIN code, you'll be locked out and someone else has to fix it for you.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability as seven out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We're currently using VMware Horizon. We're preparing to migrate to a different product within the next couple of years.

We use Duo for virtual machines, and we can use the same token for Office 365. With one application, you can do everything you need. It's a better solution for our use case.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay a license for VMware, and SafeNet is included.

The multifactor authentication application is included in the price we pay for our VMs.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution as eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Responsive support, effective authentication, but stability could improve
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of SafeNet Authentication Manager is authentication."
  • "The stability could improve."

What is our primary use case?

We use SafeNet Authentication Manager for local user authentication for all of our users.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has helped our organization by allowing all users to connect securely.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of SafeNet Authentication Manager is authentication.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SafeNet Authentication Manager for approximately five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability could improve.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability could improve, we have a lot of downtimes two years ago. this was in the cloud environment, because we purchase SafeNet Authentication Manager as a cloud service, and yet sometimes it was down for two or three hours.

We have approximately 20,000 users using this solution in my organization. This includes all the employees, contractors, partners, and guests.

How are customer service and support?

The support has been very good with this solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using AOK previously and we switched to SafeNet Authentication Manager because it was more secure.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. We migrated approximately 20,000 users and it took us eight or nine weeks. It was a very fast implementation, but we had a big team that was working on it.

What about the implementation team?

We used an integrator for the implementation and they were excellent.

We have a supplier, Atos, that does the maintenance on a contract. There are five people that are involved full-time.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated RSA and some other solutions before and based on our criteria we chose SafeNet Authentication Manager.

We are going to switch from SafeNet Authentication Manager to a Microsoft solution soon.

What other advice do I have?

SafeNet Authentication Manager is a good product, but I think they have difficulty keeping up with other vendors, such as Microsoft. At our company, we have Office 365 already and the authentication solution is already included, there is no need to purchase another product.

I rate SafeNet Authentication Manager a seven out of ten.

It's not that updated, and they are lacking behind some of the new developments.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A scalable solution with good technical support and easy deployment that supports both PKI and OTP
Pros and Cons
  • "I like how the solution allows me to support different types of hardware tokens and integrate with OTP."
  • "The solution should allow for support of multi-tenant architecture."

What is our primary use case?

I am using the 9.0 service pack three version.

The solution should allow for support of multi-tenant architecture.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SafeNet Authentication Manager for more than five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. While it's easy, it is only for a single solution, although the SafeNet Authentication Manager also supports Forest.

The technical support is at a high level.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is easy to deploy, as Palace provides much administration and many guides.

What about the implementation team?

Everyone is required for maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is an annual licensing fee.

I would recommend the solution to others in instances involving PK infrastructure.

I rate SafeNet Authentication Manager as an eight out of ten.
