The product has benefitted my organization. In terms of SLA in Nagios, there has been an improvement of 80 to 90 percent.
The most valuable feature of the solution is that Nagios Log Server sends me the data needed for monitoring the data centers of my customers. For my company, it is also a tool that is affordable enough to be deployed on the customer side.
The customization and dashboards have shortcomings and need to be improved to make the tool look more presentable. The reporting side of the product should allow users to have more customized reports.
I have been using Nagios Log Server for seven years. I use the solution's latest version. My company has a partnership with Nagios.

Before updating to the new version, the tool needed some fine-tuning to be able to keep running properly. The issue usually occurs whenever the product's version is being updated.

The use cases were to monitor the aggregate health of the servers, which were running in my infrastructure.

The initial setup can be complex if you're doing it for the first time. That is, I found it to be complex the first time, but now that I've used the solution, the setup is not that complicated.
We had to do a lot of configurations. Nagios Log Server is a kind of agent service because we have to install the Nagios Log Server in the server. If you have to attach multiple systems on nodes, then you have to also do the configurations for those. If it can be done agentless, then it would be better.
I deployed it myself with the help of a colleague.
For a single instance, the price is around $4,000.
My advice would be to first go to the product, read about the features, the pricing, and how to deploy the Log Server in your environment, and then make the final decision.
Overall, I would give Nagios Log Server a rating of eight on a scale from one to ten.
It's for analyzing logs in the web server. For example, if there is a password authentication failure attempt happening on a Windows server, we need to check how many times this logging failure happened. We can check in Log Server for the logs and check all machines whenever password authentication failures happen. We can also see if there is some DDoS there. If so, the server will send the logs to the Nagios Log Server, and we can get them in the dashboard. We can even set up alerts for these types of logs.
It's easy to add the client host to Log Server, and we can manage everything easily. We can see the logs easily through the web dashboard, and there are different charts available for viewing.
Also, we can, using a search tool, we can query for events. If something happens in the server, we can query and trigger alerts. We can trigger alerts if some query happened in the server.
The product is scalable.
The support could be better. They only offer email support. You have to fill out a form. There is no chat, only email.
The solution can crash sometimes if not enough hosts are available.
I've been using the solution for five years now.
It is stable, sometimes. If it's for a single instance, a specific number of hosts must be added. For example, if 100 hosts are running, then it is stable. If we add more, maybe sometimes there is database corruption. It can overload and crash if there are not enough hosts.
The solution can scale.
Support could be better.
The main issue is that their support is in the US. They are only available in a certain timeframe. For a different country, when we raise a ticket, we need to wait for the reply to come, which is during their working hours and not necessarily ours.
The initial setup is straightforward. It's not overly difficult.
The entire setup of Nagios takes one week at a maximum. For the Log Server server setup, it only takes one hour. That said, adding all the logs and client machines could take time, depending on if we need to open the firewall, for example.
When compared to other monitoring tools, the price is lower. For example, compared to SolarWinds, it's cheaper.
My company is a featured partner of Nagios XI. So I'm implementing Nagios XI in different companies and supporting the product.
I'd recommend the solution. It offers a lot of benefits and has a good dashboard. It's pretty easy to get up and running, and the pricing is good. The only thing is it's hard to get support if you are outside the US.
I'd rate the product eight out of ten.

A great feature of the solution involves its internal portal. The architecture is based on the open source and I find it very easy to use. Their community team developed many parts that I can use with my customers. The monitoring I have done makes configuring easier.
The most important feature involves the pricing, which I found to be quite affordable when it comes to the setting by us of one of our product services.
The Log Server should be addressed. Primarily, my customers would appreciate updates regarding the GI. They wish to know how I obtained a part from one server and, consequently, which improvements can be made.
For my part, there is no one specific module that I wish to upgrade. We are not at the point in Malaysia of adding much log analysis. The customer usually does not provide feedback and is generally not involved in the planning stages or in the generating of ideas, in so far as upgrades for the product are concerned.
When it comes to administrative needs, the solution is not a share product that can be passed on to the end user for direct administration. For the majority of our customers, services are purchased for monitoring or supplying the license, installation, management and administrative needs throughout the contractual period. For me to rate this product a perfect score of ten, it would need to have the capabilities allowing a person who lacks any IT knowledge to use and administer it.
Also, as we are talking about a product which is open to the public, the pricing makes it challenging for us to profit off of its marketing.
Over the past year I have occasionally sold the solution for its monitoring capabilities, which sees a combining of the vendor and data center maintenance capabilities. As such, the solution can be purchased directly from the website, which means I do not have a mechanism to guarantee my protection, since I am the one who will be introducing the solution to the customer.
While it is possible that those in charge of the solution's technical aspects would have more to add, this is what I can come up with offhand.
I have been using Nagios Log Server for two or three years.

My advice is that the customer first have a good idea of what he is looking for. It is at this point that I will enter the picture as a consultant and will advise if this is the appropriate Log Server solution. Since the information needed may only comprise a portion of the full functionality, it is a good idea to start with Nagios Z. Nagios Log Server can support everything. The person will have the option of reducing the size of his solution.
Most of my customers will require a tailor made solution and will initially seek one which is offerred on the market, such as this Log Server or some type of SIEM. I will act as a consultant to tailor their log analyzing solution needs.
I rate Nagios Log Server as an eight out of ten.
