Useful query handling, quick support, but user interface could improve
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Informatica Cloud Data Integration is Pushback. You are able to push the data to the solution itself, and it can handle the queries. It helps us a lot. With other tools, the burden is kept on the server."
  • "Informatica Cloud Data Integration can improve by being more user-friendly. When you're working with the solution a lot of technical knowledge is required. It's not a solution that anyone can use properly, you need knowledge of what's happening at the back end, such as SQL. When you get stuck, you need to look into your logic. For other tools, such as Dell Boomi, anyone can use them."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Informatica Cloud Data Integration in a large organization, and we have customers all across the world.

Informatica Cloud Data Integration is for migrating data from a source to a target. The major advantage of working with this solution is that it can handle large amounts of data. The drawback is the performance is a bit slow but it can handle a large amount of data compared to other tools.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Informatica Cloud Data Integration is Pushback. You are able to push the data to the solution itself, and it can handle the queries. It helps us a lot. With other tools, the burden is kept on the server.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Informatica Cloud Data Integration is stable.

I rate the stability of Informatica Cloud Data Integration a four out of five.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are some performance issues sometimes.

We have more than 50 developers using the solution in my company.

I rate the scalability of Informatica Cloud Data Integration a three out of five.

How are customer service and support?

The support from Informatica Cloud Data Integration is great. They respond quickly and if there is an issue it can be resolved fast.

I rate the support from Informatica Cloud Data Integration a four out of five.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Informatica Cloud Data Integration is famously known for its high price. The vendor targets large enterprises, and not medium or small companies. These large companies, and organizations, handle large amounts of data. If you go into any large bank, such as American or Canadian banks, these banks use this solution because it is more reliable, secure, and has more functionality.

There can be extra changes, such as using the cloud.

I rate the price of Informatica Cloud Data Integration a two out of five.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good tool and others should use it. This solution is known for its ability to handle large amounts of data and in the market, there are not that many tools available. However, there are competitors in the market, such as Oracle and IBM.

If an organization's data is very limited and they are not using large amounts of data, then I would suggest going for a smaller targeting solution, such as Dell Boomi. When it comes to large and secure data, I would recommend others to use this solution or SAP BODS or IBM.

Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a nice GDP rating and a good European market.

I rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

A tool for easy data migration from one environment to another that needs to fix its performance issues
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of the solution are pushdown, optimization, and partitioning, which can be used for frequent data loading, especially when we have a huge data volume in our company."
  • "While my company operates on the cloud, we have seen that Informatica Cloud Data Integration has some performance issues causing it to lag."

What is our primary use case?

In my company, we use Informatica Cloud Data Integration because I work in the insurance sector, where we use the tool for data migration from one environment to another. We also use Informatica Cloud Data Integration in scenarios where the clients switch from their legacy system to Informatica Cloud using Azure Synapse, because of which we have to migrate all the data to Azure Synapse.

How has it helped my organization?

The most valuable features of the solution are pushdown, optimization, and partitioning, which can be used for frequent data loading, especially when we have a huge data volume in our company.

What needs improvement?

While my company operates on the cloud, we have seen that Informatica Cloud Data Integration has some performance issues causing it to lag. I feel that Informatica is still in the process of improving its cloud. Sometimes, there are connectivity shoes in the product causing it to have multiple issues, because of which the solution hangs or lags. The product may have issues because they are new to the market and are trying to improve their services.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can be easily scaled up since we just need to take the aid of some PIM processor and increase the data volume as per what we want.

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support is good. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have an experience of more than ten years with Informatica PowerCenter.

How was the initial setup?

Informatica Cloud Data Integration's on-premises version is very good, considering the faster performance and efficiency it provides. Informatica Cloud Data Integration's cloud version is also getting enhanced since Informatica has been regularly doing some patching to increase the product's performance. Considering the current scenario, Informatica PowerCenter is a good product, especially its on-premises version.

The deployment doesn't take much time, and only a few minutes are needed to deploy the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I rate the product's price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest and ten is the most expensive. The product is a bit expensive.

What other advice do I have?

In the cloud, Informatica has migrated to a different environment in a single platform named IDMC, on which one can have cloud data migration, cloud application integration, data quality, and data governance, making everything combined with a single platform. Earlier in our company, we had to rely on different software or platforms for each functionality, but now we can use a single URL and work on a single platform.

I would like to speak about Informatica Cloud Data Integration's performance, which is too slow but works overall as a tool. To those planning to use Informatica Cloud, I would say that it is the second-best product in the marketplace, and soon it will become the leading product.

On a daily basis, the product has been increasing their overall availability and performance .On a weekly basis, the product gives out some new updates while fixing its old defects. It will be a good product in the coming years. Improvements in the current product will continue for some time.

I rate the overall product a seven out of ten.

Offers favorable data warehousing features but needs to improve UI
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten."
  • "Certain shortcomings in the product's UI make it an area where improvements are required."

What needs improvement?

You have to deal with a minimum of five, even if you want to go and check only a particular logic, making it an area with issues where improvements are required.

Certain shortcomings in the product's UI make it an area where improvements are required. The tool should provide ease of use and flexibility.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a five out of ten.

I see that my company faces frequent challenges in the tool when it comes to the area of UI and related to the area of characters. In my company, we have experienced some issues that occur when upgrading the tool.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Enterprise-sized customers can choose Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for the solution is helpful, but it takes them time to figure out the issue. The time taken to close the ticket depends on the support that Informatica gets from their backend technical team. It takes a long time to close a ticket. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was not difficult.

The product's deployment phase can be carried out by linking a .exe file provided by the solution with your server.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Against Informatica Cloud Data Integration, I recommend SnapLogic, which is a cheaply priced product. People know about SnapLogic, as it comes with very good features and ease of use.

What other advice do I have?

The feature of the product that I find the most beneficial for data warehousing tasks is the use of the tool for extracting and loading purposes, which depends upon the connector's availability. Many connectors in Informatica are not free or out of the box, and you have to purchase them. The tool has quality connectors.

I haven't used the tool for real-time data analytics, but I have used it in my company for batch-oriented purposes. Data integration will not be supported in real-time in Informatica Cloud Data Integration. For real-time data integration, you have to go with either the application integration or other products like Informatica PowerExchange.

In Informatica Cloud Data Integration, the transformation feature was almost the same as that of Informatica PowerCenter. In Informatica Cloud Data Integration, the transformation features may offer a couple of more functionalities.

In terms of the ease of learning that the product provides, I would say that those who have experience with Informatica PowerCenter can easily adopt Informatica Cloud Data Integration. A person who has worked on Informatica Cloud Data Integration may not be comfortable with Informatica PowerCenter. In terms of ease of use, I consider Informatica PowerCenter to be easier than Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

I rate the ease of use experience attached to the tool a six out of ten.

Only after considering the use cases of people can I recommend the product to them. If a person only wants a product for extraction and loading purposes, then I feel that there are many cheap products in the market that can satisfy their needs. Suppose someone is looking at a tool that offers widespread features, like application integration and real-time functionalities. In that case, all of it comes under Informatica, which can be a good option.

The tool is the most expensive one compared to any of the other products in the market, especially in terms of ETL functionalities or integration features.

My company has integrated SAP, many databases, and APIs into Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

I can see that the performance of the product keeps improving with every new release, especially in the area of job executions, even though the hardware may be the same.

I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

Lacking features, migration strategy needs improvement, but reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "Informatica Cloud Data Integration is stable."
  • "The cloud version of the Informatica, it's a very substandard product. They might say it's enterprise-ready but it's not at all ready. They need to add more features, such as improved data replication features. If you look at other tools, such as Matillion they are now cloud-native and flexible. Additionally, Informatica Cloud Data Integration should have a good migration strategy from Informatica PowerCenter to Informatica Cloud Data Integration."

Excels in mapping development, searching for contracts in data governance, creating data quality rules, and designing merging processes
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of Informatica Cloud Data Integration for our clients are the AI capabilities within Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services."
  • "One area where Informatica Cloud Data Integration could improve is in providing more accelerators for certain functionalities."

What is our primary use case?

We use Informatica Cloud Data Integration to migrate to the cloud, upgrade our data warehouse, and implement master data management. It helps us with in-depth analysis, leveraging shared history, and addressing data governance questions.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Informatica Cloud Data Integration for our clients are the AI capabilities within Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services. It excels in mapping development, searching for contracts in data governance, creating data quality rules, and designing merging processes. The ability to identify duplicates and automate analysis coverage is particularly beneficial. Additionally, the cost-effective option of using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for smaller projects or departments has made it more accessible and attractive for experimentation.

What needs improvement?

One area where Informatica Cloud Data Integration could improve is in providing more accelerators for certain functionalities. For example, for master data management, having additional accelerators could streamline implementation. Additionally, enhancing compatibility with metadata sharing across different applications, similar to what is achievable with PowerCenter, would further enhance the product's capabilities.

I would like to see more connectors for on-premise databases in the next version of Informatica Cloud Data Integration. Currently, CDI free is a great option for cloud integration, but expanding the connectors to include databases like Oracle or MySQL for on-premise environments would make the tool more versatile and accessible for smaller businesses or those not fully in the cloud.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Informatica Cloud Data Integration since 2016.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Informatica Cloud Data Integration has been generally stable, with occasional editor issues. However, SLAs are consistently respected, and we typically experience minimal downtime, averaging around two to three hours per month.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Informatica Cloud Data Integration is high. With advanced pushdown optimization, it performs well in various environments like Snowflake and AWS. It is suitable for companies of all sizes; for small to medium enterprises, starting with fewer IPUs is cost-effective, and scalability allows for growth as needed.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate Informatica's vendor support as a seven out of ten. It is generally good, but there is room for improvement, especially as they shift focus from on-premise to the cloud. We often find answers in the community for software issues, but sometimes we encounter challenges that require official support tickets.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for Informatica Data Integration is straightforward. Deployment is simple, involving exporting and importing development processes. The ability to pilot the Informatica Data Integration platform from various APIs makes continuous integration and deployment easy to manage through API calls.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would rate Informatica's pricing as an eight out of ten in terms of affordability. Starting with a small IPU volume is cost-effective, and as we grow, the pricing adjusts favorably based on consumption, which makes it reasonable for our needs.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration overall as an eight out of ten. It is a comprehensive platform covering data integration, API integration, data quality, data governance, master data, and privacy tools—all within one platform. The accessibility to all functionalities with the purchase of IPUs is a significant advantage compared to the past where certain features required additional payments and permissions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Great user interface; could be more user friendly with a simplified mapping task
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface which is very easy to use if we have any problems to solve."
  • "A general improvement in icons and the virtual interface would be good."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for the solution has been in some of our smaller pilot projects.

What is most valuable?

One of the main valuable features is the user interface which is very easy to use if we have any problems to solve. We don't need to install any client machines to do this, we can access from any machine.

For the past six and a half years I also worked with PowerCenter, so I used to see the big icons and it's very easy for me to do. But with moving to Cloud there have been some challenges but it's getting better. We are able to connect to a lot of structured data, there are a lot of provisions.

What needs improvement?

The user interface could be more user friendly with a simplified mapping task. In general, improvements could be made in mapping. When we create mapping from uploaded data, I'd like to see integrational mapping. I possibly need some extra time to grasp it all but a general improvement in icons and the virtual interface would be good for us. We are working as developers and we're working with the solution on a daily basis so any improvement would be good in this area.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

As far as my knowledge base goes, I feel pretty good with the stability of the product.

How are customer service and technical support?

I think technical support is awesome. Initially it feels challenging connecting with IACS, but I am able to get assistance and then apply it immediately. I feel like we're always getting good support from Informatica, even when there are technical challenges, it's one of the best things about the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this product a six out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It has become an easy way to exchange information through any cloud application.
Pros and Cons
  • "It has become an easy way to exchange information through any cloud application."
  • "The biggest challenge I see is the IDE's for the cloud and automization are different."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for this product is two-fold:

  • Reporting- If the users want to visualize into a meaningful report then they would pass on that as a requirement to the Informatica team. This goes to the Informatica team, which will then apply the business rules and validation, cleansing or whatever else is needed on top of the data set.
  • ETL-There is a lot of information that is required by multiple downsizing applications. So, if the file of information is huge, it does not fit into application integration use case so then Informatica can take a huge set of data and pass it onto several downsizing applications.

How has it helped my organization?

It has become an easy way to exchange information through any cloud application. As the overall solution guidelines that we get from our solution checking, a connection to an outside cloud application cannot be a direct integration.

What is most valuable?

My most valuable features of this solution are that the DI team uses the Informatica Powercenter, which is an automized tool that Informatica provides. For quite some time, they have been using this. So, the cloud products are coming from the same school of thought, which makes it more believable that it can do whatever it is required to do. And, I think that was the primary reason for going with Informatica on Cloud The majority in terms of dating their product promptly is something that is quite apparent.

What needs improvement?

The biggest challenge I see is the IDE's for the cloud and automization are different. They could have made an IDE in such a way that you can write an integration for the cloud. If I had the flexibilty of making that decision later, that would be a great benefit to have.

In addition, another improvement could be if you develop and design your integration without being connected to the server. If you could deploy it anywhere, that would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I think that it is the best in the category.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have our own team that helps us with support issues. I do not have any experience with the Informatica tech support team.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also have prior experience with IBM Cast Iron.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved on the initial setup.

What was our ROI?

A product must have: quality, performance, good pricing and scalability.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also considered MuleSoft. We reviewed MuleSoft and found it to be a competitor that has some of the features missing from Informatica. But, it is not completely a perfect competition because it is more into application integration and API management. But, I think that Informatica can aspire to do the same.

We also considered Dell Boomi Atmosphere, but we did not do much research into that particular solution.

What other advice do I have?

The amount of usage that we see in Informatica on Cloud is going to increase. And, correspondingly, the usage of the automized version of Informatica that we use is going to decrease because exchanges are going to be more towards the cloud.

I suggest that someone considering this solution should take a minimilaistic free license, and do a proper analysis of the solution.

A stand-alone application used for any integration with third party tools
Pros and Cons
  • "The data mapping capability is a valuable feature."
  • "Certain applications are not being synced with the ION."

What is our primary use case?

A stand-alone application used for any integration with third party tools, like Oracle, it may be SAP, or it can be their local in-house build, or HRMS. It can be any application from A to Z. But this acts like in the web services.

What is most valuable?

The data mapping capability is a valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

Certain applications aren't accepted. For example, for IBM applications, it takes a lot of time. And certain applications are not being synced with the ION.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Its a very stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are twenty five customers at present.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. The deployment takes two hours time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's an expensive solution.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
