Great backup that's user-friendly and very reliable
The initial setup is very straightforward. It is easy. There are no great difficulties when setting up the solution. Even the configuration is simple. The deployment itself takes only a couple of days. It only takes one person to install it. You do not need a big team. We had an engineer manage it. The product does not require any maintenance.

Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Replication without network changes."
"While there are some complexities, Veeam tries to keep the product simple and offers a good knowledge base. It's quite structured, so you can easily take one subject and learn about it simply by reading through the documentation."
"In my opinion, the console or dashboard is the most valuable feature of this solution."
"A really good feature is backing up the emails of the company."
"The most valuable feature is that it is very elastic. It's adaptable because it's very flexible and modular."
"The most valuable feature is the snapshot capability."
"The best part about this solution is that it just works."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Cloud Connect is the server backups, such as the Microsoft Windows server. Additionally, the updates provide useful enterprise functionality."
"The solution helps reduce our workload."
"It is easy to set up. You can use some functions to make sure you get the maximum bandwidth to do the backup. It has an option to bypass Microsoft network limitations and things like that."
"The solution is easy to use and stable and can be made to fit one's needs."
"The most valuable feature is that we don't need different agents to back up our files from different accounts."
"Its absolute functionality and intuitiveness are the most valuable features."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Backup for Office 365 are the ease of use and instant back and restore."
"For data security, we rely on Veeam Backup for Teams and it is quite effective."
"The most valuable feature is the built-in integration with Office 365, which helps us protect email accounts and servers. We use it on virtual servers on the cloud with Azure, or we can use an agent on physical servers."

Cons

"If a customer has a low budget, Veeam may be too expensive."
"We were interested in investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in VMware. VMware right now is one of the biggest solutions in the world, in terms of the IT environment. But for Cloud Connect it's not. I think they need the cloud version to reach more customers, to enable the cloud version to be used by more people."
"The bandwidth optimization needs to be improved and have better efficiency so that you send fewer amounts of data from one site to the other."
"The biggest thing that Cloud Connect needs is native deduplication."
"It would be helpful if the enterprise edition was more complete. It's not as complete as the enterprise plus edition is. For instance, in the enterprise version, we can only use one accelerator with the cloud provider. It means if I have my Cloud Connect, I cannot connect another site of mine with another cloud connect and use an accelerator of Veeam. They should change this."
"We are now able to work on more security-related tasks with Acronis, as they offer features such as antivirus, DLP, and various cybersecurity options. This is a significant improvement compared to our previous solution with Veeam Cloud Connect, where we were lacking such features. It also allows us to offer a wider range of security options to our customers."
"We need the solution to offer IT storage."
"The solution needs to be more scalable. There should be no reason to set up Veeam Cloud Connect and have 10 servers in order to have a cloud backup. The initial setup could be easier."
"It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good."
"The solution could improve by having the ability to back up without an agent installed on the system."
"If it could rebuild the data without pulling down the entire chunk, it would be an improvement."
"If clients are backing up onto tape, Veeam's newest versions don't really deal with that."
"The solution could improve scalability, both in terms of more storage and users. These two attributes are quite important when you talk about good scalability."
"It's hard to predict the usage on the storage. I need to make some estimates for customers in terms of how much storage will be needed on the cloud, and this is always tricky. It would be helpful if they could help us estimate storage or simplify the estimation portion."
"While Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is a highly convenient product, there is room for improvement in its integration with Microsoft 365."
"We attempted to use it for our DRP, however, we found it too expensive and complex, so we decided to use it just for backup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are looking into how we can extend the license of this product."
"The price of the solution is reasonable because of our good standing with the vendor."
"The pricing of Veeam Cloud Connect is good."
"The licensing fee is on a monthly basis."
"The licensing is MSP-based. It is connected to the portal, and you can deploy it to your end users as well."
"It's not the cheapest solution on the market but it's reliable, so we find it cost-effective."
"I think that this is one of the most cost-effective solutions."
"The price of the solution could be cheaper. There are monthly or yearly subscription options available. The annual subscription tends to be cheaper."
"We are talking about a third party solution, so there is a licensing fee."
"It is strictly subscribed on a per-user basis."
"The solution is not expensive."
"I have a per-user license for the number of users and the mailboxes that I have."
"Veaam Backup is licensed per mailbox, which customers like because it's per user and so they don't have to pay for shared mailboxes."
"I'm not sure about the price, but I think it could be lower."
"We have 2000 users and pay about $10,000. It may be a little bit more per year. We have an education institute and may have fewer expenses."
"We decided on Altaro because, from the point of view of the total cost, Altaro looks cheaper than Veeam. Veeam has a lot of costs that are not clear when you start it, which makes it less flexible than Altaro, but only after half a year, you can be really sure that you made a good decision."
