Handles security setups independently for a more secure environment
OpenShift does have more secure features. Azure also has equivalent services. For my client, it was good enough to switch to Azure. For development, there wasn't any significant change in effort, however, for the DevOps team, it was a relief since Azure has managed services. We used elasticity and scalability all over.

Consistently beneficial with excellent accessibility although support's response time needs improvement
The features and functions of the SAP Cloud Platform are very good; the performance is improved when compared with the older versions. Earlier, we were using Oracle DB, and after HANA DB migration, it is fine. We are getting the reports, and processing time is also reduced. Almost all the features of the SAP Cloud Platform are fine and good. SAP Fiori has also entered into the picture, and we are developing the Fiori apps. We have started with the BTP for the new innovations as per the SAP roadmap. The main benefits of the SAP Cloud Platform for us are that earlier we had the primary data center at our place, but now we have shifted to the cloud. The maintenance is free for us; the maintenance is completely done by this SAP partnership with Cloud4C. We have started using the SAP Analytics Cloud, and we have developed many applications for SAP SAC. We are going to give the presentation to our chairman most probably next week. The analytics features positively influence decision-making for us. The SAP Cloud Platform has been effective for us because the processing time is reduced, and we can access it easily.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud is the UI console. We are able to receive the resources from the console directly."
"The solution offers the most robust Kubernetes orchestration available."
"The portability, moving from one platform to another, is easy."
"The deployment mechanism has become more dynamic with the use of the product."
"Our pipeline integrates various monitoring tools like Fortify for security checks. Once the pipeline processes the code, the finished product is deployed on Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud. We ensure application setup and recovery by utilizing two separate clusters on OpenShift."
"In general, customers appreciate its ability to run different workloads, manage applications through CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins, and leverage tools like Helm charts and Kako."
"The portability, moving from one platform to another, is easy."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The platform is extremely scalable."
"It's very easily implemented, especially with the Grow Platform."
"SAP Cloud Platform's performance is much faster than the on-premises solution because of continuous fine-tuning by their team."
"I rate the solution's scalability an eight out of ten. My company has 800 users."
"The most valuable features of the SAP Cloud Platform are the extensions and integrations. Additionally, there are a lot of AI-based microservices."
"The entire SAP ecosystem is a valuable feature. It provides access to SAP S/4HANA, ACG systems, and their Fiori launchpad, making it easy to navigate between them. This makes the enterprise very accessible."
"The mobile access capability is very beneficial."
"The ability to expand it whenever required has been great — it's very simple."

Cons

"There is more work and effort needed for when many of the managed services are not accessible, especially in the security area. You have to do your own security setups as opposed to using a managed firewall."
"The effectiveness is satisfactory, and there haven't been any additional fees due to meeting demands. However, there's room for improvement in pricing, performance, and stability. Regarding the UI, it could be more user-friendly and integrated with various platforms. Currently, the UI lacks user-friendliness, especially for developers unfamiliar with container technology. Expecting them to create YAML files for security purposes is unrealistic without proper guidance or experience. This aspect needs improvement."
"At this point, I cannot recommend this to other users because of the experience that we have had."
"Many of the managed services are not accessible."
"The service mesh integrations could improve the solution."
"Technical support could be a bit better."
"Making it even more cost-effective could be explored."
"The installation and configuration procedure should be simplified."
"Better connectivity to on-premise systems would help us to support older systems that are migrating to the cloud."
"I'd like to see more local integration."
"I would like for it to have integration to GitHub."
"The product could be improved for consistent user interfaces."
"There is a lot of room for improvement in customer service and support. The availability of knowledgeable support to the implementation partners and the customers could be better."
"Shows errors without providing any analysis."
"In person, when the development happens, we were told that it's flexible and customizable. However, sometimes, it's challenging to customize."
"The areas I think this solution should improve are monitoring and adapting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product is not costly when compared to other vendors."
"The pricing is a little high in China."
"Licensing costs for this solution are based on the number of users and the bandwidth."
"The pricing can be negotiated."

"SAP provides good discounts."
"The tool could get too pricey...Small enterprises that want to leverage the tool's features will have difficulty in utilizing the solution."
"SAP Cloud Platform is generally more expensive than the other options."
"SAP's pricing is usually high compared to the competition. But this is also justified because they hold their products and services to quite high standards."
