Offers solid data quality functions and continues to evolve with opportunities in AI integration
Precisely Trillium's best features include being a very comprehensive solution in terms of data quality. There are different types of data quality tools, and what Infogix had before being bought by Precisely focused more on reconciliation, whereas Precisely Trillium actually focused on correcting errors within the data set itself. This is a different perspective on data quality. Some of the functions and features that Infogix did in their data quality solution are different than the functions and features that Precisely Trillium did. The data profiling feature of Precisely Trillium helps improve data integrity for certain clients by emphasizing the principle of bad data in, bad data out. It's important to have a data quality tool to ensure that your data is good because any calculations and business decisions that are made on this data are only as good as the data itself. It's extremely important to have good quality data, and Precisely Trillium serves to ensure the data quality.

The best features of Talend Data Integration are its rich set of components that let you connect to almost any data design intuitive and its strong automation and scheduling capabilities. The TMap component is especially valuable because it allows flexible transformation, joins, and filtering in a single place. I also rely a lot on context variables to manage different environments like Dev, Test, and production, without changing the code. The error handling and logging tools are very helpful for monitoring and troubleshooting, which makes the workflow more reliable. Talend Data Integration has helped our company by automating and standardizing data processes. Before, many of these tasks were done manually, which took more time and often led to errors. With Talend Data Integration, we built automated pipelines that extract, clean, and load data consistently. This not only saves hours of manual effort, but also improves the accuracy and reliability of data. As a result, business teams had faster access to trustworthy information for reporting and decision making, which directly improved efficiency and productivity. Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization. By automating daily data loading processes, we reduced manual effort by around three or four hours per day, which saved roughly 60 to 80 hours per month. We also improved data accuracy. Error rates dropped by more than 70% because validation rules were built into the jobs. In addition, reporting teams now receive fresh data at least 50% faster, which means they can make decisions earlier and with more confidence. Overall, Talend Data Integration has increased both efficiency and reliability in our data workflows.

Pros

"Precisely Trillium's best features include being a very comprehensive solution in terms of data quality."
"It reduces the QA effort immensely by handling most of the test scenarios in a reusable way."
"The best feature of Talend Data Integration is its multiple data DB components; we have almost all the components and also cloud versions, with TMC allowing us to perform data preparation and data stewardship."
"The features that I like the most are the simplicity of the interface, and the ability to quickly develop with a predefined component."
"The jobs are visual and this has improved collaboration between colleagues. It’s much easier to understand a visual job than a piece of Java code."
"The most valuable feature is the data loading and scripting language"
"Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization by automating daily data loading processes, reducing manual effort by around three or four hours per day, improving data accuracy with error rates dropping by more than 70%, and enabling reporting teams to receive fresh data at least 50% faster for earlier and more confident decision-making."
"The most valuable feature is integration."
"The Studio is easy to understand."

Cons

"There's always room for improvement with Precisely Trillium. The hottest thing right now is AI, and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance your data quality is always a plus."
"In terms of the solution's technical support, the interactions were satisfactory, but there is room for improvement, especially in managing expectations."
"Sometimes there are bugs which are unidentified and we have to follow-up with the Talend team to resolve them. In a critical situation, it takes time for them to update patches."
"There are too many functions which could be streamlined."
"The biggest challenge with Talend was its performance."
"NullPointerExceptions are going to be the death of me and are a big reason for our transition away from Talend. One day, it is fine with a 1000 blank rows, then the next day, it will find one blank cell and it breaks down."
"There are no concurrent licenses, they only have seat licenses on cloud. That's the whole challenge. For example, if in any project your headcount increases or decreases, you do not have that concurrence and you have a seat license, you run into challenges because you have to procure a few more licenses for getting the job done."
"Needs integrated data governance in terms of dictionaries, glossaries, data lineage, and impact analysis. It also needs operationalization of meta-data."
"There are more functions in a non-streamlined manner, which could be refined to arrive at a better off-the-shelf functions."

"The tool is cheap."
"I have been using the open-source version."

"It's a subscription-based platform, we renew it every year."
"I would advise to first take a look and at the Open Studio edition. Figure out what you need and purchase the appropriate license."
"The price is on a per-user basis. It's a little more expensive than other tools. There aren't any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"The price of the Talend Data Management Platform is reasonable. The other competing solutions are priced high. Gartner Magic Quadrant identified other solutions, such as Informatica, that are far more expensive."
