Unified vulnerability data has reduced risk and currently cuts duplicate tools and license costs
Seemplicity can be improved by adding additional graphs and charts that make it easier to do trending over time. I had to do some of that manually via manual reports, but Seemplicity already has a feature request for this. Seemplicity has done a pretty good job of keeping up with integrations. One gap that I identified and that Seemplicity is trying to fill now is having a complete end-to-end mapping. Seemplicity currently looks at the external attack surface using tools like Censys, and then looks at the internal side, examining what is in AWS and other clouds using CSPM. However, there is not anything that currently ties a property on the outside to a system on the inside, especially when you have additional security layers like web application firewalls that actually mitigate the risk.

Automated testing has reduced manual effort and improves remediation of critical vulnerabilities
The biggest friction point with Pentera is the need for more granular control or the ability to exclude specific sensitive systems, as well as the necessity for the cloud environment to mature. While Pentera excels in on-premises and hybrid setups, its AWS and Azure attack path simulation is not as deep compared to others. If I could change one thing in Pentera to improve my workflow the most, it would be the platform UI because some security team members are not penetration testing specialists, making it difficult for them to navigate. I would make it easier with more guided workflows.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The biggest impact Seemplicity has had on my organization is turning what used to be a fragmented, manual process into something structured and accountable."
"I was also able to pay for the tool twice over by using it for tool rationalization."
"Before we really struggled with meeting SLAs that were in place because we did not have the information we needed and there was too much back and forth, now we nearly have a perfect SLA meeting time."
"When we started with Seemplicity, we saw an 85% reduction in the number of tickets through deduplication, and that is significant for our teams who are swamped with issues."
"Seemplicity is doing amazing work, and organizations were able to better meet their SLAs, better communicate to their leadership and executive level about the overall risk and exposure levels, and overall have a better understanding of what they are dealing with."
"Seemplicity has helped us see a return on investment by reducing the need for an L1 analyst for AppSec findings through its categorization, deduplication, and automatic remediation assignments, which has significantly decreased the headcount required for initial analysis."
"I think of Seemplicity as a fantastic company and a fantastic partner to work with."
"We have seen improvements in remediation rates, as initially a lot of our metrics were in the red, but now all are in the green or yellow."
"Pentera has many authentic features."
"The product is easy to use."
"We moved from a reactive security posture to a proactive one."
"Pentera has significantly affected our organization by dropping our mean time to remediate critical vulnerabilities because the remediation team can clearly evidence the exploit instead of debating CVSS scores, and our security posture has improved."
"The tool showed us that our ransomware protection wasn’t working on some machines."
"The vulnerability scanner, exploit achievements, and remediation actions are all great."
"The platform's most valuable features are credential management and vulnerability management."
"Maybe there are some remediation steps on the website, we can mask sensitive information on the website better."
"RedSeal integrates the network and gives us a visual or graphical overview of our network. If an organization is geographically dispersed, for instance, with one office in Canada and one office in the Philippines, the whole network, including all devices, is integrated into RedSeal, and you can see from where the traffic is going in and out."
"RedSeal helps you prioritize and allocate your scarce human and capital resources where they have the biggest impact to protect your most-valuable digital assets."
"The most valuable features are network mapping and configuration."
"The most valuable feature I enjoy that is provided by this security analytics platform is the ability to measure resilience."
"Overall, I am very happy with the way the product is working."
"RedSeal has different modules, such as the Analyzer module, which can be leveraged."
"This solution is amazing! The most important part is the way it gives access information to the entire infrastructure, the network most importantly."
"If you want to understand your network environment as it relates to configuration issues, host/node vulnerabilities and firewall configurations, then I highly recommend that RedSeal be considered."

Cons

"For Seemplicity, I would say two things for improvement. First, reporting customization could go further because this industry is evolving; the CEO tries to get much information that they are looking for."
"The capability out of the box today is decent, but over time, if we can allow users and organizations to build their own view and how they want to report on things, that would be a great value add."
"Seemplicity could be improved with some of the aggregation accessibility. Currently, it is a bit of a black box and can be a bit of a bottleneck."
"Seemplicity could use more improvement around the user interface."
"Seemplicity can be improved by adding additional graphs and charts that make it easier to do trending over time."
"Every tool, including Seemplicity, can improve, and I think it needs to further enhance its deduplication capabilities and understand how to integrate with more security tools, especially as new AI security tools emerge."
"As the account is growing, some of the dashboards are slowing down, so optimizing that could be one area for improvement."
"One area for product improvement could be the inclusion of a dashboard to cover multiple branches and subsidiaries, allowing for centralized monitoring."
"The biggest frustration or friction point I have had with Pentera is that the navigation seems slower."
"The licensing and IP management need improvement."
"They need to offer support for a new graphic card."
"The price could be improved."
"The biggest frustration I have had with Pentera is the navigation, which seems slower."
"The main challenge currently is the commercial aspect, as the product has become very expensive."
"The biggest friction point with Pentera is the need for more granular control or the ability to exclude specific sensitive systems, as well as the necessity for the cloud environment to mature."
"The dashboard should be improved to make correlating data easier to do."
"Sometimes, it required us to refresh the configuration. When we integrated any of the configurations into the device, sometimes, it could not detect the exact picture of that device. So, we had to reset the device to see that if it was giving true-positive results or false-positive results. In some cases, we were not able to get true-positive results. There was some kind of bug in that version. Its interface is not user-friendly and needs to be improved. It takes time to understand the interface and various options. Skybox has quite a user-friendly interface. They could provide a feature for compliance audit policy if it is already not there. A compliance audit policy ensures that all configurations are based on the best practices standards, such as CIS benchmarks standard or other similar standards. It provides visibility about whether your device configuration is based on best practices or not. Usually, such a feature is provided by other solutions such as Meteor or Tenable Nessus."
"The network mapping/visualization could be improved significantly."
"There is room for improvement regarding customization and automation of reports."
"One of the areas of concern is the GUI. It is important to our customers that the GUI looks beautiful. It's a Java Client, so you have a Java dependency."
"Initially their level one support was very frustrating to work with."
"Integration with other security tools. Have the ability to create custom reports: Currently, within RedSeal you only have the option to run the canned reports."
"Its interface is not user-friendly and needs to be improved."
