Offers integration with many technologies for your applications but the suite should be simplified
We use Oracle SOA for teaching processes only. We have about forty users on the platform at a time I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite. You can use a lot of technologies. The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified. Currently, it is pretty difficult. We have…

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite; you can use a lot of technologies."
"It automated the way we did system integrations. Now, information is available on different systems to the correct people."
"There are adapters which make it easier to build integrations between different technologies."
"Middleware jobs developing for EC, ERP, and shipping systems become easier."
"In case there is something that doesn't work out of the box, you have the flexibility to customize it."
"I think it's good, as we have done our POC on 12c, and it comes with great features, like all-in-one installation, management from one console, enhanced JVM for great throughput, and memory management."
"The most valuable feature of the facility, as the partner link, is to try to use third-party services and logic in your own vehicle to orchestrate the information."
"It performs better in real-time transactions."
"I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy."
"Overall, it's a mature and complete platform, ideal for implementing high-quality business solutions."
"Oracle offered by far a better SOA solution."

Cons

"As PaaS solution in the cloud, it should be easy to maintain this solution."
"The system is very unstable, and any modifications to the server or in the application can make the whole system stop."
"The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified. Currently, it is pretty difficult."
"The initial setup is complex. Many solutions out-of-the-box did not work as expected. The documentation provided Is particularly poor."
"SAP adapter gave so much trouble while configuring it, and not proper documentation is helpful from Oracle."
"The quality of support is not always equivalent. In general, it must improve."
"The Maven integration in JDeveloper is very basic and might be enhanced to allow the proper use of Maven."
"As this is not the best product, it comes with minor or major bugs which Oracle keeps improving from time to time."
"Another area of improvement is performance. Because with multiple solutions connecting to the SOA platform, the performance of the SOA platform can be affected in time. So, that could be one area that could be improved with the SOA."
"It's also not developer-friendly."
"Customers experience issues standing up environments. Unless an experienced administrator is involved, having an environment that is clustered and load balanced requires quite a bit of time."
"As a developer, me and my team face the most challenges installing it. It's very memory intensive and it crashes a lot."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an interesting solution, but only if you get a good price for it. Usually there are better options in the market with better prices."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"The product is moderately priced."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
