Syncs data in real-time while managing transaction volumes
The most valuable feature of Oracle GoldenGate is its ability to sync data in real-time, which is crucial for me. I set it to a master-master pluggable database that serves as a container used from clones to provide test environments for various teams. This makes it very effective in managing high-volume transactions. The ability to sync data in real time is a key feature I rely on.

Helps retrieve data and with data processing but is not so easy to use
There are no stability issues in the tool. Compared to Apache Sling, Spring Cloud Data Flow is not easy to use. People prefer Apache Sling when dealing with their use cases. I don't know whether Spring Cloud Data Flow will be demanded a lot in the market because there are a lot of other options available, especially open-source tools like Apache Sling, which is getting a lot of attention from people. A lot of people have started using Apache Sling, so I don't know how much more visible Spring Cloud Data Flow will be in the future.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"GoldenGate enables us to merge and transform data from various sources in real time. It's a powerful tool that can read and load most data sources."
"The initial setup is straightforward. It doesn't take too much time or effort to implement the solution."
"This is a powerful solution provided by one of the most respected companies in the computer industry."
"For small databases, GoldenGate handles the migration well."
"You can put data together from a few databases into one database or the other way, from one database into several. It transforms data in real-time."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle GoldenGate is its ability to sync data in real-time, which is crucial for me."
"Oracle GoldenGate features work fine, which is what I like about it. I also like that it's scalable, easy to set up, and has good technical support."
"You can use Oracle GoldenGate as a DR for your system."
"The best thing I like about Spring Cloud Data Flow is its plug-and-play model."
"The product is very user-friendly."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it allows us to use different batch data sources, retrieve the data, and then do the data processing, after which we can convert and store it in the target."
"The dashboards in Spring Cloud Dataflow are quite valuable."
"The most valuable features of Spring Cloud Data Flow are the simple programming model, integration, dependency Injection, and ability to do any injection. Additionally, auto-configuration is another important feature because we don't have to configure the database and or set up the boilerplate in the database in every project. The composability is good, we can create small workloads and compose them in any way we like."
"There are a lot of options in Spring Cloud. It's flexible in terms of how we can use it. It's a full infrastructure."
"The ease of deployment on Kubernetes, the seamless integration for orchestration of various pipelines, and the visual dashboard that simplifies operations even for non-specialists such as quality analysts."
"The most valuable feature is real-time streaming."

Cons

"There are a lot of bugs in the solution."
"The process of transforming the data between two different databases is inefficient and needs to be improved."
"What needs improvement in Oracle GoldenGate is the support. Another feature that needs to be improved in the solution is its GUI. It would be useful for programmers or users to be able to work from the GUI, not just from the command line. Simplifying how Oracle GoldenGate is used would also make the solution better."
"It would be better for Oracle Golden Gate Studio GUI to include other licensed products (i.e. Veridata or others)."
"Troubleshooting issues is not always the easiest. It should be easier to troubleshoot. Their support can also be improved. They don't read your problem statement and waste a lot of time. GoldenGate for big data is actually a separate license. It is sort of a separate product, but it might fall underneath your GoldenGate category. If we're talking about big data, its interaction with big data sources is poorly documented."
"The problem with GoldenGate is it is very complex to use. You need heavyweight skills to use it."
"There is room for improvement in Oracle GoldenGate's pricing, which is a bit high."
"Lacks the ability to become a full-scale ETL tool."
"Spring Cloud Data Flow is not an easy-to-use tool, so improvements are required."
"On the tool's online discussion forums, you may get stuck with an issue, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Some of the features, like the monitoring tools, are not very mature and are still evolving."
"Spring Cloud Data Flow could improve the user interface. We can drag and drop in the application for the configuration and settings, and deploy it right from the UI, without having to run a CI/CD pipeline. However, that does not work with Kubernetes, it only works when we are working with jars as the Spring Cloud Data Flow applications."
"I would improve the dashboard features as they are not very user-friendly."
"There were instances of deployment pipelines getting stuck, and the dashboard not always accurately showing the application status, requiring manual intervention such as rerunning applications or refreshing the dashboard."
"The configurations could be better. Some configurations are a little bit time-consuming in terms of trying to understand using the Spring Cloud documentation."
"The solution's community support could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is a bit expensive."
"The price of this solution is good."
"We have an enterprise license for it. It might be for three years or so. I'm not aware of any additional costs to the standard licensing fee."
"Oracle GoldenGate is a high-priced solution because it follows the core-based pricing model versus the software-based pricing model of other solutions."
"The solution is highly-priced."
"The tool needs to improve its pricing."
"The return on investment would make it a worthwhile deal."
"The price is high. Consequently, when clients or customers acquire the solution, they tend to utilize it to its maximum extent due to this factor."
"The solution provides value for money, and we are currently using its community edition."
"This is an open-source product that can be used free of charge."
"If you want support from Spring Cloud Data Flow there is a fee. The Spring Framework is open-source and this is a free solution."
