Has consistently delivered high performance and aligned security while evolving with AI-driven improvements
When discussing Oracle Exadata, the main thing is the specialized database appliance, the flash cache, and the engineered machine on the database for the database itself. Overall, all the features are useful and meaningful for any database like Oracle to run the Oracle database. Regarding Smart Scan technology, it is for better performance. If a customer cannot tune their applications, this will help them to run the database and run the application without any tuning itself. Oracle Exadata's advanced compression techniques have affected my customer's data storage efficiency positively, with the feature being great, but as of now, our customer is not using that. I find its security measures align with my customer's organization, as security is aligned as per the customer's requirement. It has helped optimize performance and cost.

the most useful feature of the product is object imaging. It is the champion in the world of RDBMS.
Although they already have patches to address the instability of CORV (Create or Replace Views) CASCADE, I believe this is the area that should receive most attention. I am, however, still not sure if the patch has officially been recognised and deployed as part of their version updates. There are a few critical issues/bugs that we have experienced on our production environment, which required intervention from Kognitio. As one of Kognitio's biggest clients, their response times were quick and patches were also quick to be released to address production issues. Also, slabs management seems to be, or can be, a very hands-on tasks especially when reaching its capacity. It will be every WX2/KAP developer’s or DBA’s paradise if the product can be configured in this area to be fully/semi-automated.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Exadata with the In-Memory option is several levels about SAP HANA."
"Oracle Exadata is proclaimed as a highly engineered system, though it requires complex setup procedures."
"The performance on the databases is good."
"A valuable feature is that everything goes into one machine; Oracle and the applications, so that is a big advantage."
"The offloading of data to the SIM is a valuable feature."
"However, the solution is really reliable and I would recommend it."
"The key capability of Exadata, which is not found in any other solution or appliance, is its enhancement specifically for databases."
"Oracle is known to be the number one in their industry; the help and support, the features they are giving the clients comparing to other databases, the new technology, they provide a good solution."
"In the world of RDBMS, WX2/KAP is, I believe, the champion, or should be if not already!"

Cons

"Adaptability is a little bit challenging for the customer because of the licensing and the pricing."
"We have experienced some performance-related challenges."
"Our main issue is the CPU; they can't cope with what we want."
"The cost of the product could be improved."
"We only had a few stability issues with unexpected reboots."
"Yes, it's a nicely engineered system but they also need to evaluate cost versus benefit. It's not cheap, I can tell you that."
"Customer service is 7/10. Technical support is 6/10."
"License or upgrade management can be difficult and time consuming because it requires login to a separate console."
"It does not have the robustness or stability like of Oracle or Teradata; the upper right quadrant."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I did note that Oracle does tend to internally oversize things especially if they want to fill up a budget, and hence third-party oversight is essential."
"I think it's free."
"The price of the solution could improve, it is expensive."
"Oracle Exadata is not a cheap solution. Pricing is a problem for Oracle, and every client, not just my company, would like the vendor to improve on the price, or lower the price. My company paid for several years' worth of Oracle Exadata licenses. You need to pay for the technical support and other features separately, on different contracts. In terms of affordability, my rating for Oracle Exadata is two out of five."
"The pricing of Oracle Exadata is too high."
"It is quite expensive."
"The price of the solution has been expensive to implement."
"I'm giving Oracle Exadata five out of ten in terms of pricing. Its price could be lower."
