Real-time dashboards have improved our deployment monitoring and incident response
We are using Opsview ourselves, rather than being a consultant or a reseller. We do not use its auto-discovery feature. We do not utilize its API driven architecture. I do not know what metrics we use to assess the effectiveness of Opsview's hybrid IT monitoring. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Opsview as it is good for what it does. I do not know if Grafana has any other advantages besides better stats, as I am not involved in that side. Based on my experience, I would still recommend Opsview to others as it is good for what it does. I gave this review a rating of 8.

IP address management improves network efficiency but licensing cost could decrease
We are using SolarWinds for NPM and NCM, and we use IP address management for IP address monitoring. It helps us track which IP address is live and which is not. It also provides DHCP reservation and allows us to declare IP addresses for our integration. We have been using it for IP address…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Very easy-to-use interface, especially starting from v5 onwards Advanced tweaking possibilities Netflow"
"Our support team are more responsive to failures and potential problems by using the Opsview Monitoring System."
"We use this solution for internal monitoring our own cloud platform because we are a public cloud provider, and we also use it for monitoring purposes on behalf of our clients."
"The fully-extensible event handling has enabled us to reduce on-call incidents by more than 90%."
"Customer service is great; always responsive, within minutes at times."
"Opsview, though not the least expensive Nagios-based commercial monitoring product offers excellent value for performance which rivals expensive commercial products from the major IT vendors; it is well worth the money paid for it."
"The multi-tenancy that's available through this is one of the most valuable things."
"Opsview provides all the functionality of NetSaint and Nagios but with the simplicity of a GUI front end, using MySQL to centralize configuration."
"IPAM is used for IP address reservation and tracking, helping us easily identify live IP addresses."
"The most valuable feature is the availability of end devices."
"The initial setup is very straightforward and it is easy to add nodes."

Cons

"We have had some stability issues, but that is largely because we're using an unsupported database."
"Customized reporting can be improved."
"The graphing feature needs work, although it has been rewritten in release 5.0 and we have yet to deploy it."
"Maybe the graphical representation can be improved. It can be enhanced for better visualization. It could be a little better. And the graph center can be improved."
"There is one feature that I've been requesting for a while now. Going back to this multi-tenancy thing, right now the tenants can't create their own service checks, so that's still a process they have to get with us."
"In Opsview 4.6.3, there is no provision for making bulk changes to monitored servers via the GUI, though it is possible to custom-script bulk changes via the API."
"There is always room for improvement, and part of the reason we're looking at Grafana is because there are things it can do that Opsview cannot do as well."
"Reload time: Although there have been major gains in the time to process reloads, I think that there is still room for improvement in this area."
"The licensing cost is high compared to open source tools."
"The solution does not include enough features and has some performance issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is priced similarly to other tools offering similar features."
"I would rate pricing a seven out of ten, where ten is the highest price."
"The solution is not cheap. I think that the pricing is a little bit on the high side."
"The solution is a bit expensive because the annual license does not include new features that are priced as add-ons."
