Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Deep traffic inspection has strengthened threat detection and provides smooth zero day protection
I have been dealing with Deep Discovery that inspects incoming and outgoing traffic, and it is used for packet filtering. The most valuable features and functionalities in Deep Discovery are that it is used for monitoring malicious traffic, and it operates down to the firewall and inspects any malicious traffic. I have used Deep Discovery's sandbox analysis feature. The sandboxing feature helps our threat detection efforts as it internally inspects the malicious data and holds it in the sandbox, and after the analysis, the file is quarantined. I evaluate Deep Discovery's real-time visibility on network traffic as a better solution for inspecting traffic. In incident response, Deep Discovery captures zero-day threats easily and provides the best visibility on the console. I assess the effectiveness of Trend Micro's real-time analysis in my defense strategy as good, as it does not disturb any work and operates very smoothly in the background without any utilization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I can highlight that we have not faced any security incidents with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, and even though our environment is quite dynamic, we have not faced any security incident with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks until now."
"Cortex is a very good total solution on the endpoints."
"We have a complete overview of all our PCs and it's very easy to handle and to use the interface. It has a lot of benefits for us."
"We've had a significant increase in blocking with a decrease in false positives, because it's looking at how the files work, not just a list of files that it's been told to look for."
"The multi-layered approach to the product gives you confidence that it will stop exploits, ransomware, worms, or viruses from compromising endpoints, essentially providing peace of mind."
"We switched because there were a lot of added features with Palo Alto that Check Point didn't have, and it was an upgrade for us."
"Technical support is the best in class, in my opinion, because they have invested heavily in research and development."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is specifically designed to prevent zero-day attacks and is part of an ecosystem of Palo Alto, providing customers with a long-term vision to modify and redesign how security is applied in their company."
"We've not had any issues with scalability. If an organization needs to expand, they can do so quite easily."
"It is very light, it is the only solution that can be installed on a machine that already has an antivirus, and it is a pretty complete solution."
"Probably, compared to other antivirus programs, what we like about it is it is lightweight."
"I like that Webroot is very lightweight, it didn't bog down the machine, and more importantly, it had heuristics artificial intelligence to some degree, where you have one endpoint recognizing issues because it maintains a cloud database, so if one client recognizes a threat, it would add it to the database, and almost immediately, every agent in the world would also know about that threat."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is that they have the lightest agent, as it is only six MBs, installs in a matter of seconds, is very lightweight, and has a very minimal, negligible performance impact on the machine and endpoints."
"The feature we found most valuable is the AI functionality for maintaining endpoint security, which is very powerful and has been useful over the last year."
"The solution is very simple and straightforward to use."
"It is very lightweight on the workstations, not slowing them down while still doing its job very well."
"What I like the most is the customer pricing because it's a great value."
"Helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers."
"The stability is good and I like the level of performance I can get."
"I like Trend Micro Smart Protection because it offers strong, all-around cybersecurity, is better than many others out there, and helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers."
"The next-generation antivirus features are excellent."
"Trend Micro is easy to use and it has good security features."
"The security is good, and so far, we have not had any breaches."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is for endpoint protection for business that can provide protection to guard against all types of threats."

Cons

"The onboarding process could be better."
"It tends to do 99.9% of things. The only thing I'd like is single sign-on authentication into their cloud platform so that my users can be properly authenticated against it."
"Currently, if you use Palo Alto endpoint protection as the only solution it's very complicated to remove pre-existing threats."
"I would like to see some additional features related to email protection included."
"The setup is quite easy. We had appropriate support from the manager. One thing that was missing was the integration part."
"It is not easy to sell Cortex XDR, not because it isn't a good tool."
"The solution should enhance the ADR and reporting."
"There's an overall lack of features."
"I want Webroot to be easier to use and set up. It is not very intuitive."
"It would be nice if it had a feature for automatically generating reports on the client end for device status, security status and backup information."
"The platform is mostly stable, however there are hiccups with the cloud from time-to-time that impact the ability to get to the portal."
"There should be a Webroot Business Endpoint Protection mobile app."
"Areas for improvement would be the reporting system in the admin console."
"It doesn't do anything proactive. The virus has to hit the machine before it detects it."
"It needs to improve the problems with the faster connection, and have a huge reduction in false positives."
"The solution could improve by providing better ransomware protection."
"The solution could be more compatible with other operating systems."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting."
"I cannot recall noticing any missing features."
"Recently our end users are feeling that their system resources are too occupied and slowed because of the Trend Micro agent - that the agent is doing lots and lots of background activities which include Application Control and Advanced Threat Protection."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is a very system-intensive product, and it would be better if it could be made less burdensome on the resources."
"The design of management tools needs improvement."
"There are certain concerns with the product's stability, so it is an area where improvements are required."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our customers have expressed that the price is high."
"Cortex XDR’s pricing is very reasonable."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"The cost depends on your chosen license type, like Pro or other licenses."
"The pricing is a little bit on the expensive side."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"Very costly product."
"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"I rate the product's pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. There are no costs in addition to the product's standard licensing fees."
"Webroot Business Endpoint Protection is not too expensive. My licenses cost me between $300 and $400. It is really good price wise."
"The solution is pretty cheap, actually. At our level, which is at 2,500 endpoints, we're paying 87 cents an agent per month."
"I think the price is fairly reasonable. I was really prepared to pay more, but the price is fine."
"I can't recall the exact pricing, but I believe there is a monthly fee of $20-30 per user."
"If you purchase for clients, then you are the managing billing entity. It's better to either get a monthly subscription check from your clients, or to prepay for the year (so as to not keep cash in reserve to pay the bill each month) IMHO."
"Webroot is less expensive than SentinelOne."
"Work on a price tier plan."
"The price of Trend Micro Smart Protection is reasonable."
"The cost seems competitive."
"In terms of licensing cost, it falls within the average range compared to competitors, almost 7 out of 10."
"Our organization has paid licensing for three years, which averaged about $4.00 USD per user. We've been satisfied with the licensing. It's quite reasonable."
"The price of the solution should be less expensive."
"The solution is a little bit expensive in comparison to other traditional tools."
"The product is not very expensive."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is more costly than competitor solutions"
