Effective testing and good data management with seamless Excel integration
There are cases where the system does not meet our reporting requirements. For example, only the first user can click 'run' during testing, and subsequent users have to click 'continue manual run', which can create reporting errors. Improvements are needed so that the system can continue running without creating a new run.

Helps to create tasks, change requests and documentation
I personally like PTC Integrity because it provides everything within the software. You can store and access your data and perform various tasks. Compared to other products, I find it user-friendly, which can sometimes feel complex. I think PTC Integrity is user-friendly, making it nice to use. The tool is easier to learn. The tool has a dashboard that details our projects and products, including the number of tasks, change requests, and their statuses (incomplete or complete). Having all this data within the solution makes collaborating easy for our project team. Unlike using multiple tools, having everything we need in one software platform is convenient. I rate the tool's user experience and interface a nine point five out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is a very good test management tool especially for writing test cases and uploading. You can even upload the test cycles from Excel. You get the defects and the reports, and also some automation using EFT which works with ALM."
"Templates: Allows us to standardize fields, workflows throughout hundreds of HPE ALM projects."
"The enhanced dashboards capabilities are useful for senior management to view the progress of releases under the portfolio in one go and also drill down to the graphs."
"Having the links maintained within the tool is a huge boon to reporting requirements, tests, and defects."
"The solution's support team was always there to help."
"The solution's most valuable features are its bidirectional traceability, the solid structure within the test plan, and the test lab."
"We were able to manage test cases effectively when we were using it. It worked well for us."
"You can do your development from start to finish: starting with the requirements, ending with defects, and testing in-between."
"We have been using it because it gives certain abilities in the automotive industry, such as auditing or keeping track of information."
"It's a good tool to manage software versions, update the status, and manage tasks."
"The tool is quite structured and has a good command set."
"The solution is flexible in terms of customization. You can bend and reformat it in many ways. You can also customize the APIs and public functions."
"The most valuable feature is traceability starting from the requirements until the end of a project."
"Complete traceability as per process requirements."
"I have found that previously, the OEM sector was managing everything, possibly manually. However, with the introduction of the product, it has become much easier for customers to handle their products. Previously, customers were using different software to manage their products. However, PTC Integrity offers a solution for requirements management, test management, and even development to support live ticket management. So instead of using multiple software tools, we can use it for all these purposes."
"PTC Integrity has good stability."

Cons

"It's not intuitive in that way, which has always been a problem, especially with business users."
"It is pricey."
"There were multiple modules and stuff to the solution so maybe the requirements can map to test scripts. It can't map to test steps. If you've got a process that's set up and you've got multiple test scripts that are in it, each script has to be linked to the requirement and the whole set can't be. If we're doing process-driven testing, it's more difficult to do it at the script level, which is what we're finding from a traceability perspective."
"The Agile methodology is now being used across all the organizations, but in this solution, we don't have a dashboard like Jira. In Jira, you can move your product backlogs from one space to another and see the progress, that is, whether a backlog is in the development stage or testing stage. Micro Focus ALM Quality Center does not have this feature. It is typically very straightforward. You just execute the test cases from it, and you just make them pass, fail, or whatever. They can also improve its integration with Jira. The browser support needs to be improved in this because it supports only Internet Explorer as of now. It does not have support for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or any other browser. There are also some performance issues in it. Let's say that you are doing the testing, and you found something and are logging the defect. When you try to attach several or multiple screenshots with the defect, it slows down, which is a very common problem people face. I would like them to include a functionality where I am able to see the reports across all the projects. When you have multiple projects, being a manager, I would like to see the reports across all the projects. Currently, there is no single sign-on through which we can get all the information at one place. You need to log into it project-wise. If you have ten projects, you can't view the information in one dashboard."
"We would like to have support for agile development."
"The solution needs to offer support for Agile. Currently, ALM only supports Waterfall."
"The technology used for UI and UX are not user-friendly."
"Browser support needs improvement. Currently, it can only run on IE, Internet Explorer. It doesn't work on Firefox, doesn't work on Chrome, doesn't work on a Mac book. Those are the new technologies where most companies move towards. That's been outstanding for quite a while before it even became Micro Focus tools when it was still HP. Even before HP, that's always been an issue."
"There are not enough reports. People would like to see something similar to what is available in JIRA."
"The user-friendliness of PTC Integrity can be improved. The interface is not intuitive for first-time users and takes time to get accustomed to."
"To be honest, the third controller system is kind of old. There are lots of transactional changes that have not been implemented in PTC. If you have a larger project, for example, whenever you give bits and need to change 10,000 files you can just commit them. But here the work style is a little more file based, so you'll have to take care of almost all the files individually. It's not a single commit like you do here, but rather you have to allocate time for each component or file that you want to check in or commit. That's a very big issue."
"I would like to see better integration from the architectural side."
"The tool's web-based UI needs improvement. Some functionalities don't work yet, and querying items is slow. Also, it's not in the cloud yet. I don't know if they'll do it in the future because they already have core agreements with customers. If they offer these functionalities, customers will likely buy their product."
"It's not easy to plan on this solution and it's not user-friendly. The interface should be more like a web interface. It's not easy to use."
"It's not so customizable. Compared to other tools, defining user stories is a slightly more cumbersome process as an ALM engineer."
"We are unhappy because everything that we needed required customization and this is not a plug-and-play type of solution at all."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay around $30,000 for thirty users, translating to approximately $6,000 to $10,000 per user, which is high."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is very expensive. The price is approximately £2,000 per person, they are too expensive to corner the market."
"The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
"Only major companies that can afford it use OpenText ALM."
"It's a perpetual license."
"I've never been in the procurement process for it. I don't think it is cheap. Some of the features can be quite expensive."
"If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
"The product is expensive."
