Experience high detection and user-friendly policies with reliable email security implementation
The system is not user-friendly because you have to create policies that are mapped in a dictionary. As an IT engineer, I understand how it works, but explaining it to another IT person can be difficult. Having more user-friendly dashboards would improve the work experience. In Mimecast Email Security, checking policies in the dictionary or gateway is very complicated, and not everyone understands this process. If you examine the Check Point portal, it's user-friendly with easily accessible tabs that anyone can explore. With Mimecast Email Security, making changes might impact existing mailboxes. The portal is complicated compared to Check Point's user-friendly interface.

The tool has had some scalability issues, but now that it's offered as a cloud service, it's easier to manage. However, setting it up isn't as straightforward as it used to be, and there may be limitations with the support provided during setup and testing. Also, the quality of support has declined in the past year.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Email security is the most valuable feature of the solution."
"It's good, it keeps the spam out."
"It's good, it keeps the spam out, and it does a really good job at not allowing threats through."
"I have always found Mimecast to be very responsive; for example, if we see something come through, they address it and it helps to sort out the issues."
"The product is good; to date, we have not faced any challenges."
"The most valuable feature of Mimecast Mailbox Continuity is real-time alerts."
"We like Mimecast's spam filtering. The email signature feature is also a big plus for our users."
"The product is good. To date, we have not faced any challenges."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"Everything is in one console, including the security and managing the data there, such as mailboxes, email, et cetera - everything."
"The tool streamlines data discovery processes for compliance by setting up a gateway to copy every incoming and outgoing email to the archive independently of the mailbox. This ensures that even if a user deletes their mailbox, the emails are still available in the archive, making it a compliant solution for monitoring all incoming and outgoing emails. Additionally, it offers the ability to place legal holds on important emails."

Cons

"Its pricing can be improved. It is a bit expensive."
"The lock in is very, very tight. It is impossible to move out of Mimecast to a different product, like Proofpoint or 365 ATP, and keep the chain of custody for every email that I've archived."
"Their support should be improved. They are notorious for sending you to knowledge-based articles rather than actually talking to you, but that is, unfortunately, kind of becoming a trend with everything. In terms of features, I haven't had any complaints. However, I don't like the fact they moved to a paid training subscription model. They used to have a lot of free webinars for training, but they have started to charge for them in the past year."
"Mimecast needs to reduce the number of false positive emails; a big pain point for us."
"As a user, the user interface of the management console could be upgraded, for example."
"The interface isn't the best. How everything works on the back end is confusing."
"It was not a good experience due to the fact that our main infrastructure had a problem for that entire time."
"The price of the solution is expensive. It can improve by reducing the price."
"The tool has had some scalability issues, but now that it's offered as a cloud service, it's easier to manage. However, setting it up isn't as straightforward as it used to be, and there may be limitations with the support provided during setup and testing. Pricing and Cost Advice

"Two subscription options are currently offered: monthly and yearly. My suggestion is to opt for the yearly subscription as it can give some discount. The pricing isn't high as other cloud solutions are pricier than Microsoft's offerings."
"The solution is expensive."
"I'm always going to say the price needs to be lower, but it's reasonable."
"Compared to the other products in the market, it is neither cheap but nor very expensive. I would rate it somewhere in the middle, 5 out of 10."
"It's an expensive solution."
"It is a bit expensive."
"For what it is, the product is overpriced."
"Its price is in the middle range. It is a structured licensing model where there are various components that you can add or choose to add or not."
"The tool is expensive, and I rate its price as eight out of ten. It might not be very expensive. However, comparing it with something that's free or already included in the price is challenging, like the Office 365 archive mailbox. Previously, this was part of the subscription price. Now, it's an additional cost, typically covered by departments like legal or compliance rather than IT."
