We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product is useful when the end user downloads malware files.""It is very scalable. There are approximately 2,000 endpoints and up to 200 servers in our company.""The product’s most valuable feature is the ability to provide threat detection and protection simultaneously.""They have a very transparent roadmap for the product.""The user interface is pretty user-friendly.""You can use it to monitor third parties and ensure they are not under threat attacks. It is beneficial in the GRC model.""Its user-friendliness is its most valuable aspect.""I value how Threat Intelligence integrates with the different platforms in Microsoft."

"It has helped our clients to reduce the time to action on insider threats because it can be integrated.""The most valuable features are identifying sensitive data and issuing alerts.""The product has improved compliance and confidence. We are aware of the data that is leaving our organization. It provides confidence in data management and information storage.""For Purview's natively integrated compliance across Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365, I would give it a 10 out of 10. It provides all the insights and information.""The product is easy to configure.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's responses are faster. Its installation is also reliable. The security score helps with the security part.""Because everything is on Microsoft and we use Azure, integration with the product is easier. Cons
"I would like for there to be extra confirmation that there aren't viruses. Even if the virus detection software is always running there could be hidden applications that are using the computer.""Microsoft itself is a major target for attacks and threats due to its size and popularity. That could be considered Microsoft's Achilles heel.""Having up-to-date documentation and real-time reflections in all portals would be beneficial to keep users informed about any changes. Additionally, the frequent changes in Microsoft's UI and the movement of features between different products in the set pose difficulties.""The solution could be more stable and precise because, at times, the threats detected are not legitimate.""Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence is evolving and needs to fix and enhance numerous issues like stability and licensing. The continuous rebranding and licensing changes are confusing.""Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence should integrate with different platforms.""The price of the solution is an area of concern where improvements are required. In general, the solution's price needs to be reduced.""The tool's onboarding of users that use on-premise or hybrid environments needs to be improved."

More Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence Cons →

"Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's licensing is expensive.""The scalability, in terms of the portal, could be more user-friendly. Sometimes I have faced difficulties in identifying the options.""A site can have different containers where you store data. We have always wanted to apply compliance, labels, and policies at the container level, rather than to an outer shell or at the site level. That is something we have been looking forward to and I believe Microsoft is already planning something like that.""The AI advancements can improve the false positives.""The platform can be challenging to navigate and has the potential for improvement.""The solution should provide better integration with other systems.""They do not provide language options beyond the ones already available, so our language option is missing.""There is a lot of ambiguity when you are setting up labels, such as sensitive information labels. It is a little daunting at first if you don't have prior knowledge, and there is a little bit of a learning curve for setting up the labels. Some of the setup wizards could be more helpful from an AI perspective. They can streamline the setup through more AI technologies so that you don't have to jump through so many hoops and different menus and dropdowns. It would be useful to have a setup wizard that is more hands-off and engaging for setting up the information type labels. If you tell them this is what we're trying to protect, it should basically start to lead you down that path of best practices. Such a feature would be great."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Considering Microsoft is constantly changing licensing, I would give it a seven out of ten. It can be difficult to get your head around it, especially for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)."
  • "They offer two license plans: Microsoft Defender for endpoints and Microsoft Defender for businesses."
  • "The product’s pricing is worth it."
  • "The solution can be licensed, but most users would already have it in their Office 365 license."
  • "It is an expensive product."
  • "The tool is expensive as a stand-alone solution. However, it is not cheap when you purchase it as a bundle."
  • "I rate the product's price a six or seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
  • "I use the product's default version, which is a free one and not the licensed version."

  • "It is a part of our Microsoft licensing. We pay for a yearly renewal. Its price is reasonable for the size of the organization we are. It is fairly competitive, and you get what you pay for. We have an E5 license, and a part of understanding the E5 license is to see what all you get with it. If you really look at it from that standpoint, you get a lot of value. You have Defender and all its security features in there as well. Their licensing is fairly flexible. They have different programs. We've seen ones where you could pay for up to three to five years in advance. There is also a monthly pay-as-you-go type of deal, but we're doing a yearly renewal and fixing the budget."
  • "Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is part of a bundle and is not sold as a standalone product."
  • "The product has the best price-to-performance ratio."
  • "It's a little bit pricey compared to competitors, but it's not too high."
  • "We are using the E3 license for Microsoft 365 with the E5 compliance license add-on."
  • "The pricing is reasonable."
  • "I am satisfied with the tool's pricing."
