We performed a comparison between Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics and SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Warehouse solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable feature of Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is the pipeline that is the ETL tool. It's very well designed and is overall very good. We usually don't use the ETL tool in Databricks, but we use the ETL tool in this solution."
"We also like governance. It looks at what the requirements are for the company to identify the best way to ensure compliance is met when you move to the cloud."
"Synapse Analytics' best features are notebooks, pipelines, and monitoring."
"Synapse Analytics gives you information and reports in real-time."
"It is a highly stable solution and it's easy to use."
"I like its performance. It is well-structured and offers a lot of practical options. Because of the visual design of the product, it is very easy to find icons and other visual elements. It took me more than two weeks to understand how it works. I had an intensive training session to understand it, which was enough. It was not hard to understand how it works."
"The whole solution is interesting for us."
"The most valuable feature is performance gains."
"It provides us with proof of data, we can centralize all of the information, check it, and then provide the information to our users."
"Transformation is a valuable feature of SAP NetWeaver. I can transform the data as per my needs or my client's needs. For example, flat tables can be transformed with respect to our requirements to combine multiple modules into one single table, and we can derive analytics."
"The security and audit procedures are the most valuable features."
"Data modeling is a valuable feature."
"It's an excellent over-all tool for managers to analyze their business."
"A robust and efficient product."
"It is a robust system."
"The initial setup process needs improvement. When you're moving to the cloud it takes a bit of time. It would be great if they could implement something that would make it faster."
"They should provide a less expensive version with a smaller setup for small businesses. Currently, its price is quite high for entry-level or small businesses. In terms of integration, new connectors are always welcomed."
"The linked services can be improved. We can create dynamic linked services to access a lot of databases but only those of the same type. For example, I can use the same linked services to access 11 SQL databases. However, if I have 11 SQL databases and five Oracle databases, I need two dynamic linked services. I cannot do it with only one linked service. The UI also needs to be improved. When I have used Azure Synapse for programming with PySpark, Scala, or .NET, for example, the UI has been unstable. If I open two notebooks for programming, one notebook will queue the session of the other."
"The solution does not support oriented scaling in the synapse."
"The macro functions, though useful, are not totally user-friendly. Some people have difficulties in learning them."
"The performance and data consistency need to be improved."
"They should automate some of the features. There are some things, such as the creation of external tables, that you have to do manually. They should be automated."
"The cost of the solution has room for improvement."
"The product could provide more features."
"The program is difficult to learn to use"
"It is difficult when your native language is not English. It is difficult for us to explain our issue and also difficult for the technical team to explain a resolution to us."
"There are performance issues in terms of scalability and availability."
"I think more integration with other applications would be perfect."
"Connectors are complex, and it is difficult to understand or know which connector should be used. For instance, if I want to connect APIs, I will not be able to do it directly. I would have to go to the portal integration to get the data. Therefore, having simplified connectors will make things much easier."
"Design and modeling could be simplified."
