AI assistant has transformed network troubleshooting and now reduces downtime and support tickets
Marvis Virtual Network Assistant has resolved all problems that network administrators face, making it challenging to identify areas for improvement. Marvis provides good analytics, recommendations, and problem resolutions. One potential enhancement would be to add different languages for different countries because Marvis currently uses only English. For example, since I live in Ukraine, it would be beneficial to communicate with Marvis in Ukrainian because not all administrators know English.

PRTG Network Monitor can be improved because the dashboard themes feel outdated. It should be updated to a newer version for the new Gen Z customers. The notification sound options are limited unless customized. Restarting probes after Windows updates is necessary, and there should be some kind of automatic restart. The initial auto-discovery added too many unnecessary sensors, so auto-discovery should only take the necessary sensors into consideration.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Marvis Virtual Network Assistant uses AI to find problems or to get information from devices."
"I believe the pricing of Marvis Virtual Network Assistant is reasonable because it allows for a decrease in the quantity of network administrators needed and reduces operational costs."
"If you ask any questions about Marvis, it will respond immediately and use some solution. It will be very easy and save you time."
"The alerting is the most valuable feature. I also like the iPhone app. I get alerts in an email on the iPhone app."
"It is able to satisfy all our requirements in terms of email notifications and specific errors on the devices."
"PRTG is relatively intuitive and fairly straightforward. It has net flow monitoring and that works all right. I would describe it as a decent middle-of-the-road solution."
"Overall, this is a very good platform and provides value to the organization."
"Our users perceive it as our being able to provide a very high level of service because we're avoiding situations where they suffer downtime."
"Stable solution for monitoring networks and bandwidth, with multiple functions and features such as NetFlow Collector, graphical monitoring, etc."
"The solution provides us with needed feedback on our IT infrastructure. It gives us really good quality of service when it comes to monitoring of available space and available resources. It allows us to preempt issues before they become a problem for the business."
"PRTG Network Monitor's best features are its flexibility, ease of implementation, user-friendliness, and intuitive interfaces."

Cons

"It would be a good idea to integrate the solution to support other vendors besides Juniper."
"It should add real-time application visibility."
"One potential enhancement would be to add different languages for different countries because Marvis currently uses only English."
"I have an issue with DFS, distributed file services... there isn't one by default. Taking into account the difference between DFS and DFSR as well would be great."
"It's expensive to maintain."
"The operations dashboard is only available in PRTG's enterprise version, but I wish it could be accessed in the standard licensing. It would also be nice if PRTG had templates for dashboard monitoring, software monitoring, etc. It can help me set up a dashboard because now we don't have a template from PRTG, so we need to create one from scratch."
"The remote probes seem to be a little bit buggy at times. They just stop working or they say they can't communicate. What we tend to do to is install the remote app onto the servers that we use. That seems to clear it up."
"The database needs improvement."
"The reporting features look very technical and that can be improved."
"PRTG could use reporting tools and mobile alert tools. It should be easier to diagnose and respond to problems from a mobile device on the go."
"When you email the support team, they take three to seven days to respond and resolve simple issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Marvis Virtual Network Assistant is not an expensive solution."
"When you buy PRTG, everything comes in one bundle. Licensing is very easy."
"Licenses are very expensive, so I would like to see cheaper licensing."
"We are satisfied with the price."
"We used a product called SolarWinds in the past, and its cost was high. Whereas, PRTG came in at a third of SolarWind's cost."
"We pay for PRTG Network Monitor annually. The price is approximately 10,000 rupees annually."
"We are using the premium version of PRTG Network Monitor. The price of the solution is a bit higher than competitors but it is worth the extra money. However, it would be helpful if the price was lower."
"Because we are only on the free version, we have a limited number of sensors. Therefore, we are not monitoring as much as we want to be to obtain historical information."
"We pay nothing for it. Its 100 sensors have allowed us to put a magnifying glass on some systems, providing an extra layer of detail. Therefore, our outgoing is nothing and our incoming is a lot of useful data that we can react to proactively."
