Centralized AI routing has strengthened data security and simplified multi-model workflows
The best features LLM Gateway offers include multi-provider AI access and the ability to access around 200 plus models available in the market. We just need to pass our key and set up this one, and it can access all the available models. Apart from this, it automatically routes the request based on context if we set it in LLM Gateway. Another feature is the automatic failover functionality where if something goes wrong, it redirects the request to another model. LLM Gateway also provides usage analytics with a dashboard where we can check the current usage of each model and see how many requests are going to each model. It persists data for around 30 days, so we can review usage over the last month. LLM Gateway can be self-hosted as well, which is beneficial for large companies with security concerns. I find multi-provider access and failover to be the most valuable features day-to-day. Multi-provider access integrates all available models, acting as a router between the application and LLM Gateway. If my application is using four different models, I only need to call LLM Gateway, which manages everything. We also do not need to share sensitive API keys, as the developer can directly call LLM Gateway, which handles everything seamlessly. The failover feature automatically redirects requests if something goes wrong in one model, and it is incredibly easy to configure. It does not take more than a minute to set up. One positive impact of LLM Gateway on my organization is reducing security risk. If we give API keys to everyone, they can misuse them outside the organization. However, we no longer share API keys, as users just need to call our LLM Gateway, and the API keys remain secret and contained within our on-premises setup. Security-wise, it has significantly reduced our organization's risk.

Manages hybrid infrastructure seamlessly with flexible cluster scaling and comprehensive oversight
The most important aspect of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is that it helps us manage the infrastructure as a hyperconverged infrastructure in HCI mode. If I have different physical servers, I can map them into a cluster and manage the storage together. It provides flexibility to make use of storage in a clustered format instead of using it in an individual storage endpoint. We have the flexibility to have Nutanix-based licensing based on the core model, instead of having a specific cost on the cluster. The costing on a core model gives customers flexibility to add multiple cores to a single physical host and adjust the infrastructure accordingly, and we can scale up the cluster as needed. While other cloud providers, AWS or Azure, are mostly into cloud-based solutions, and Azure has introduced Azure Stack HCI for managing on-premises infrastructure, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) provides flexibility from day one. We can manage both on-premises and Azure solutions using a single pane of glass, eliminating the need to navigate different windows or screens. It provides a comprehensive view of the infrastructure and highlights specific areas through alerts, giving us good visibility of infrastructure conditions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have seen a positive return on investment, reducing the time required to integrate new AI models by around 40 to 50 percent, cutting troubleshooting time by about 30 percent through centralized logging and monitoring, and improving service availability with automatic failover, which has reduced operational overhead and allowed the team to focus more on delivering new features rather than maintaining integrations, resulting in a clear ROI."
"The best features LLM Gateway offers include cost optimization, multi-modal support, and authentication and authorization all in one place."
"Since adopting LLM Gateway, the complexity of our projects has decreased, the security concerns have lessened, and I estimate it has saved us around 20-30% of our time."
"Together, we would estimate a twenty to twenty-five percent lift in engineering productivity on AI work, and from a business angle, new AI capabilities reach production about twenty-five to thirty percent faster because the plumbing is already in place."
"What I appreciate most about LLM Gateway is that there is no need to maintain multiple keys."
"LLM Gateway is a very efficient solution for what it proposes and I believe it is a solid option if you want to use something that is self-hosted and you can customize extensively."
"It made it a lot easier to spin up these tenant environments with little to no administrative overhead."
"IT doesn't have to be super complicated."
"The fact that these are non-technical people — they're experts in their fields but they're definitely not technical — and they can just log in to the portal and select the resource that they believe they need, and manage it themselves, speaks to the ease of use. It shows them their live costs, etc., as they're spending. The fact that they can do that without any problems, or having to engage the IT teams, is a true testament to it. There's no need for any user training at all."
"You can see the health status of the clusters in one view. There is one view of the health of your systems which helps you to have an overview any time you have a problem. You can dig into the tools that Prism Pro has to give you all the options to take on the problem. You can monitor things and manage the cluster really easily."
"The most valuable feature is definitely the disaster recovery portion, which they call Xi Leap. It's included in the licensing. Before, we were on a solution that charged extra for DR software. And with Prism Pro, not only can we manage all of our other infrastructure in addition to our DR, in the same console, but we can set up recovery points. We can also set up scripts to run, so it gives us everything we need to have a solid DR plan in place."
"The product has helped my company to have a single point of view for managing the infrastructure, our environment, and virtualization."
"The major attraction point of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is that everything is auto-scaling."
"Nutanix Cloud Manager's runway features are a big help in predicting strategy for optimization."

Cons

"A better interface and improved logs would enhance my experience with LLM Gateway."
"Regarding improvements, I think the pricing can be more competitive."
"LLM Gateway is a strong platform, but there are a few areas where it could improve."
"I see a few areas where LLM Gateway can be improved, including clearer cost guardrails and budget alerts that are more proactive, smoother project and workspace organization as the number of services grows, and more first-class support for prompt versioning and experiment tracking so that product teams can self-serve comparisons more easily."
"If LLM Gateway could give us a facility or capability to create our own dashboards depending on our requirements, it would be helpful as an improvement."
"The single sign-on functionality being locked out for the enterprise plan is a significant downside, but it is something that can be worked around since LLM Gateway is an open-source project."
"Perhaps the only point I see as an improvement would be the support of multiple languages in the environment. One of the few things within which I see an improvement point could be the inclusion of multilanguage in the environment."
"The stability of the Prism solution is another thing that we have found to be a bit of work. For example, the Prism Central and the appliances use 97 percent of the CPU and RAM of the virtual machine."
"There is room for improvement in the initial setup. It is quite complex to setup and requires professional services."
"Nutanix's costs tend to be quite high...Indian customers don't like high-priced hyper clouds, so they invest in VMware, which offers the same features at a lower base price."
"There is room for improvement in the remote script execution. The way logs are shown in Calm, it's not always keeping up properly. It's really the interface that needs attention there. I believe it is something being worked on at the moment by Nutanix."
"In Brazil, Nutanix Cloud Manager is not cheap."
"We have some Oracle systems. The licensing is a big challenge over here because it will be very costly if we go with Nutanix."
"I think the Prism Center needs to include more functions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"On a scale from one to ten, if one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution's pricing a six."
"Nutanix Cloud Manager is an expensive solution."
"It is expensive when you are looking at small locations that need low-latency workloads, but for larger locations, as compared to other guys, even using VMware, it is not that expensive because if you add it all up, it is going to be pretty much the same value."
"The solution is a bit high in price for what we are receiving as features. I feel they are overcharging us at approximately 25 percent. That is something that they should change."
"We primarily work with mid-level customers in India rather than enterprise clients. These mid-level customers are interested in services that are priced more moderately. In comparison, Nutanix's pricing is significantly higher than that of other setups. As a result, we have approximately 3,000 customers using VMware, while Nutanix has around 1,800 customers."
"It's cost-effective. It's not necessarily cheap, but it's also not inordinately expensive. It comes down to how much you use it to offset some of the costs."
"Nutanix Cloud Manager's pricing is fair at the moment."
"Nutanix is really smart to understand that the most important fact is the value to the customer, not the price tag. While you do get some sticker shock sometimes, as soon as you show this and you prove the value, all of a sudden, it looks exceptionally affordable."
