Offers integration capabilities that are very easy to use
My company has 20 people who work on the product. I know that my company has around seven customers who use the tool. I recommend the product depending on the use cases of the person who wants to buy it. If your use case is to develop a public site, customer portal, self-service, or intranet, I would say that you should go for the Liferay Digital Experience Platform. If your use cases are related to e-commerce, you need to evaluate your use cases against Liferay Digital Experience Platform, and you can use it if you find it to be a good fit. Otherwise, you should search for other platforms.

Collaborative work benefits while user-friendliness challenges persist
The most valuable feature of SharePoint is its user interface, which is very easy to use. I do not have to be very technical to use it. Its rights management capabilities and ability to restrict access to certain people are also very useful. Furthermore, I can access SharePoint from any device, whether it is a phone or laptop, which is very convenient.

Very customizable, and forms the base for most websites on the Internet
I work in the community, and I'm part of a team making the core of WordPress. We are responsible for creating how WordPress will change in the next version. The main point is concurrency. For example, we have Squarespace, Wix, and a lot of other frameworks with the same features and functionalities. All those frameworks are going to a completely no-code experience. Anyone can then have a website. You're just dragging, dropping, and writing texts very easily. It's like using Facebook. WordPress comes from a node way. There was a time when the webmaster needed to code in HTML, PHP, or some language to have a website. It has changed over time, but we still have some old things inside the backend of WordPress. We are currently removing all those old things. Day by day, WordPress will be easier to use and more user-friendly. WordPress needs to improve its usability. That way, it will be easier to create websites, e-commerce, CRM, platforms for education, or anything else. It would be good if WordPress improved its AI. For example, if you have a blog, the blog will be auto-writing. I'm working on this, and we have some solutions. Another feature should be the identification of users. It's related to AI. For example, if you go to a website like Facebook or another social network, it's possible to learn everything about you if you go to that place. WordPress has something like that, but it's not so deep. I am personally working on that feature. Anyone coming to a WordPress website will be identified. It's tricky because we have a kind of privacy to follow, so we need to balance both things.

Quotes from Members

"The look and feel and the user interface are great."
"The integration capabilities of the product are super easy to use."
"We chose Liferay because it is open-source and that we can make any number of users apply, register into the system and use the system, as opposed to other solutions where the cost is based on user licenses. This is one of the most attractive features."
"Manageability is very good and probably the most valuable part of a tool of this type. There is a little more of a learning curve than you have with a simple tool, but a business user can learn to manage the system as an administrator very easily."
"The solution is easy to install."
"I think that it could be interesting to expand the eCommerce capabilities to the B2C sector."
"The web/mobile/portal integration was one of the features that we found most valuable, primarily because it reduced our development time."

Cons

"The documentation provided needs to be more detailed. It's sometimes hard to develop things because the documentation is so sparse."
"It could be improved in terms of adding filters to some of the rules. Therefore, you can retain how long a document would need to stay in an archive."
"The plugins should be more affordable."
"Social area and capabilities need improvement."
"Microsoft support could be better, especially for enterprise troubleshooting. They require a lot of logs and often rely on online support, which does not meet customer expectations."
"It would be nice if the editing and setting up of SharePoint were more user-friendly, so I do not have to have an expert to deal with it."
"Too many versions being released in a short time period. Too much time being devoted to migration planning."
"The introduction of AI and automation with Copilot could be a beneficial improvement."
"When working on a website with SharePoint Online, not many people can edit simultaneously. If I am editing one section, my colleague cannot edit it at the same time."
"The initial setup is complex and has room for improvement."
"The company also needs to make sure that their policies are dictating how information is stored and used, instead of letting SharePoint take control."
"It does not integrate despite being part of the Microsoft family."
"The backend development process needs improvement."
"The system should be more informative."
"It could be a little bit easier to use."
"I think that WordPress is too cool in its contact."
"WordPress needs to adapt to new technologies. It also needs to improve scalability. We don't have optimized content and plugins in the tech stack."
"WordPress sites do require quite a bit of maintenance: Constant updates to both WordPress and all the various plugins that it requires."
"I would recommend dumping the Gutenberg interface, as that is horrible."
"One area of improvement is hosting. It should have its file manager regardless of where you host your website."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an open-source platform. It doesn't need any license."

"It provides a high ROI."
"WordPress is an open-source product, meaning it is available for free."
"Regarding pricing, we have the flexibility to utilize certain themes and plugins across multiple websites for a single one-time cost. However, there are instances where themes come with only one activation key, limiting their use to a single website. Certain plugins and themes come with a significant cost, with the least expensive theme priced at around $120. Additionally, plugins typically range from $80 to $90 per year for a subscription. Consequently, it can be considered somewhat costly in this regard. Conversely, when it comes to WordPress, there is no expenditure involved."
"WordPress is a free solution."
"I paid to have a WordPress site for two years and didn't just have a free one."
