Significant asset management capabilities boost IT efficiency and support proactive monitoring
A positive aspect of Lansweeper is that they maintain a 30-minute recurring schedule with us for feedback. I have mentioned to the Lansweeper team that I would appreciate a clear separation between computers joined to our on-premise domain and those joined to the Microsoft Entra directory, as this distinction is currently difficult to make. In terms of reporting and knowledge, Lansweeper completely fulfills our needs. The software installation capability is being phased out as they now have the cloud version app, where this ability and Actions have been removed. My experience is primarily with Windows systems in Lansweeper, but it also supports Mac systems. We are currently adding Macs to scanning, though functionality is somewhat limited compared to Windows. It scans servers too, though this isn't the primary focus. Regarding network scanning, there are some security considerations due to specific service or port requirements on switches. For Windows needs in terms of asset management, report creation, and detailed information visibility, it is an excellent product. Building reports is straightforward, and while the database is quite extensive and may require research depending on needs, the information is readily available.

Good ticketing tool but limitations with integration
We use ManageEngine, but it's still pretty new and under development. We used SummitAI for about four years before switching to ManageEngine. There are specific features that were missing in SummitAI that we're hoping to find in ManageEngine. We were informed that ManageEngine was a new ticketing tool with modern and advanced analytics, which would be a better fit than SummitAI with its older engine. Firstly, ManageEngine allows detailed asset inventory per user. I, as a user, can store authentication details like which laptop and mobile I use, for all employees. Secondly, ManageEngine can handle patching, Windows updates, and pushing applications from the server to desktops. Finally, ManageEngine lets us do remote access directly through the tool.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have seen a return on investment with Lansweeper, as we save time preparing reports for Microsoft, and it has been very useful in terms of cost savings."
"The solution provides inventory information that is very important to our company."
"One valuable feature is the ability to monitor log-on times, providing insights into whether users are rebooting their machines as claimed. This is useful in scenarios where users may not be aware of the need to reboot for system optimization. Lansweeper helps verify such information by collecting log data. Another noteworthy feature is the capability to track CPU, memory, and network usage on workstations at intervals, say every thirty minutes. This allows me to assess the user's experience and validate their claims about resource consumption. For instance, if a user complains about high memory usage, Lansweeper enables me to verify the actual usage and address the issue accurately. This level of monitoring granularity is something I find particularly useful and haven't seen in many other tools."
"The use of Teams for EdgeScript agent and agentless scanning of devices within our network proves valuable."
"What I appreciate best about Lansweeper is the scanning itself, as setting up scanning was relatively easy, and the reporting was comprehensive with numerous different reporting options, including a feature for creating your own reports."
"The best feature of Lansweeper is the discovery; it is really automatic and straightforward to install and use."
"Its functionality is very solid. The best part about it is that, when you have issues in getting information back from nodes, it tells you what the issue is, and you can quickly go to the specific nodes and respond to or repair those. There is an agent option, but to me, as a small business, the preference is to avoid agents where possible because you probably don't have the staff to keep up with them all."
"Lansweeper is very easy to use, and its technical support is very good."
"The most valuable feature is remote access. People are working from home, and we can take remote access through it."
"SummitAI IT Management Suite's chat box feature has reduced our service discount, and because it's intelligent, the responses that go out to the users have improved, and the resolutions are much faster."
"It was easy to access and fast. Our experience using it solely as a ticketing tool. We used fetch reports from the tool, particularly with regard to SLA tracking for our partners."
"The product has the best features for ITSM."

Cons

"In Lansweeper, reporting has some glitches. Reporting needs to be more customized as per customer requirements."
"Lacks an end-to-end asset management tool."
"The support experience hasn't been satisfactory. Establishing a direct connection with someone is challenging, as communication is limited to chat or forums through a web link. There's a lack of direct interaction with support personnel, making it difficult to have real-time conversations or seek immediate assistance, which is not ideal."
"I don't have any complaints about it, and I've never really had any issues. It isn't wizard-driven or anything like that, but it doesn't need to be. For someone who is not familiar with system administration, it would be daunting. There would be a lot of info there. They wouldn't necessarily know what to do, but that's not its target audience. For its target audience, in particular, it doesn't need to change. It is really a good tool."
"For example, Lansweeper can scan 7-Zip version 7.2, but when a new version 7.3 comes out, Lansweeper shows it as new software, requiring us to manually add this software to the whitelist or change it in reports; it should be counted as the previous version."
"The help desk is not exactly its strong suit."
"It would be beneficial if the solution could show more account-related information, beyond just the main Active Directory user account, and include management capabilities for other account types."
"In Vietnam, there's no Lansweeper office, making it difficult to find the right vendor to get the license."
"There could be flexibility in terms of customization."
"I would like them to add software inventory in the next release. We don't have that right now."
"SummitAI IT Management Suite's project management and operational management features could be improved."
"Integration was a major limitation with SummitAI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It actually costs some money in the long run because of the licensing model."
"The Lansweeper's price has increased and is now on par with or even higher than competitors, it still offers significant value in the area of IT asset management."
"It is not high and it is fair according to the worth it offers."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate Lansweeper's pricing a seven out of ten."
"Its cost is terrific. It has a great price and is cost-effective, and the license is free under a hundred nodes. I like the fact that it gets regular updates. Of course, it notifies you of the product and you can patch it and all that, but I like the fact that it is very affordable for the number of nodes. A company with three or four computers doesn't need it, but a company that has dozens or hundreds has to have some kind of governance. It can do everything such as Windows, Linux, and network devices, and the discovery is really intelligent. For example, you'd find smart devices, IOTs, and things like that. I'm very happy with it."
"We have a regular license."
"SummitAI IT Management Suite's pricing is a bit expensive."
"The product's cost is average."
