Cloud data catalog has streamlined lineage and quality while leaving more automation to improve
I have not explored IDMC's automation capabilities driven by AI and metadata too much at the moment, but it is on the cards. We are basically creating the foundation, as the whole migration has taken place recently and it is still early days. I think Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is evolving, and as the vendors move forward, they pick up new concepts from each other. I have seen that products leapfrog each other, and from my experience over the years, the big players tend to copy features or add enhancements based on industry trends. I feel whatever the tool does not have now, there is a feedback loop allowing us to request new features, and we continually ask for different ways to do things as we have a pipeline into the product management team. It is difficult to say what additional features I would prefer to see in the next release of IDMC. I would appreciate more automation on the lineage front, with more AI to seamlessly join independent sources and create seamless lineage between different technologies, such as from file into database A into a different database and landing up in a reporting system such as Cognos, Qlik, Qlik Sense, QlikView, or Power BI.

Automated data monitoring has transformed visibility and now prevents silent failures in our lake
The end-to-end data lineage had the greatest impact for us. It provided an automated map correlating upstream AWS Glue job to downstream Redshift table and Tableau reports. This was vital for instant root cause analysis because we could trace a dashboard error back to its exact point of failure in the pipeline in seconds, rather than hours. The standout feature that Sifflet offers is definitely the full-stack data lineage. In a complex AWS environment like ours, it is not enough to know that a table is broken, but you need to know where it broke and what it affects. Sifflet automatically maps the data flow from the ingestion layer in S3 and Glue, through the transformation in Redshift, all the way to the final BI dashboards. This allowed us to perform instant root cause analysis. If a report is wrong, we can trace it back to the exact source or transformation step in seconds. It completely eliminated the hours spent on manual SQL debugging and gives the team total control over the data lifecycle. Sifflet impacted positively my organization because it established a certified data standard for business stakeholders and also avoided a lot of incidents and improved the governance of the data. Incident prevention is significant, as 80% of anomalies are now resolved before they impact executive reporting. Additionally, we achieved real-time visibility into data freshness and schema evolution across the entire lake. It is all automated now.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Server maintenance, server hosting, backup, restoration, and DB capabilities are not needed in the cloud."
"Informatica Cloud Data Integration is good overall."
"Informatica Persistent Data Masking can mask production data for different users, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access sensitive information."
"I like the number of options that are presented with Informatica, fuzzy matching, and your screen."
"I think that it's a good solution...It is stable because we have the experience to deploy this solution."
"It's good for tool management, maintaining the golden record of customer status."
"We can scan anything."
"The product is the best in the industry (as it is multidomain) and the vendor support is excellent."
"Sifflet impacted positively my organization because it established a certified data standard for business stakeholders and also avoided a lot of incidents and improved the governance of the data."

Cons

"Synchronicity is an area for improvement in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services. For example, when you want real-time or immediate response from the solution when multiple technologies are involved, the integration with Informatica Intelligent Cloud isn't seamless, whether it's the MQ, JMS, or BES service, so the connectivity should be improved a bit. The data governance is good, but what's lacking is a demo. For example, if there's a new feature in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services, the documentation for that new feature is limited, so if Informatica could give a more complete documentation and more demos, that would be better for the users. Right now, there isn't any issue with any of the features of the solution. It's the new feature awareness or user training, and improved connectivity that I'd like to see in the next version of Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services."
"The UX and UI of the solution are areas with certain shortcomings where improvements can be made in the future."
"Accessing data as a service is essential, especially for validations requiring external data services. This goes beyond basic syntactic checks, like ensuring an email address contains the @ symbol or .com domain. Instead, it's about advanced validation, such as verifying if an email address exists or if a phone number is valid."
"The main issue probably has nothing to do with end users, but installation can definitely be simplified."
"We cannot sell the product directly with an additional layer."
"Interoperability is one area where EDC has room for improvement."
"Performance issues can be looked at Improved release documentation is expected because I feel that the current release document doesn't give you the clear picture of what has been fixed and what has not been fixed from previous versions."
"A general improvement in icons and the virtual interface would be good."
"Sifflet can be improved in terms of premium investment."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its pricing model can be improved."
"The pricing structure is good, but having to pay for extra drivers to be used in an ICS environment makes me a little nervous."
"It is an expensive solution. I would say it is the most expensive solution in the market."
"I rate the product's pricing a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price, and ten is high price."
"Comparatively, their prices are a little bit too high."
"It's offers value for money. They're more competitive with respect to pricing and offerings."
"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"It's an expensive solution."
