We performed a comparison between IBM SPSS Statistics and Teradata Analytics [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Knime, Weka, IBM and others in Data Mining."SPSS can handle whatever you throw at it, whether your data set contains 10,000, 100,000, or a million objects. It's like the heavy artillery of analytical tools."
"Since we are using the software as a statistical tool, I would say the best aspects of it are the regression and segmentation capabilities. That said, I've used it for all sorts of things."
"The solution is very comprehensive, especially compared to Minitabs, which is considered more for manufacturing. However, whatever data you want to analyze can be handled with SPSS."
"It offers very good visualization."
"Some of the most valuable features that we are using with some business models are machine learning algorithms, statistical models given to us by the business, and getting data from the database or text files."
"The learning curve to using this product is not steep. The program is appropriate for those who do not have a lot of background in programming, yet have to perform basic statistical analysis."
"Most of the product features are good but I particularly like the linear regression analysis."
"The software offers consistency across multiple research projects helping us with predictive analytics capabilities."
"It has been fantastic for running complete data sets (no sampling required)."
"nPath has made journey/path analysis much easier."
"Provides ease of formulating a solution based on SQL-like queries."
"The solution needs to improve forecasting using time series analysis."
"This solution is not suitable for use with Big Data."
"It could allow adding color to data models to make them easier to interpret."
"One of the areas that should be similar to Minitabs is the use of blogs. The Minitabs blog helps users understand the tools and gives lots of practical examples. Following the SPSS manual is cumbersome. It's a good, exhaustive manual, but it's not practical to use. With Minitabs, you can go to the blogs and find specific articles written about various components and it's very helpful. Without blogs, we find SPSS more complicated."
"I know that SPSS is a statistical tool but it should also include a little bit of analytical behavior. You can call it augmented analysis or predictive analysis. The bottom line is it should have more graphical and analytical capabilities."
"The reports could be better."
"SPSS slows down the computer or the laptop if the data is huge; then you need a faster computer."
"The solution needs more planning tools and capabilities."
"I would like to see more/better documentation. They also need to enhance analytic/data science algorithms."
"We have struggled with uptime. Some of the features need to be updated."
"I have found some problems with the figures depicted on graphs and figures shown, like scores which could not be negative but which were depicted as such."
