Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Data Insight reporting tool is the most valuable feature. They came up with it a couple of years ago. The most pleasing factor is the dark theme. You don't have a white background. It has templates that you can create for all kinds of reports that you can hit on the fly. It's much better printing of the reports. If you want to send PDFs to people, the reports are actually decent. Whereas for years, the old architecture of the PDFs was rubbish and even our customers said, "We have to manipulate your PDFs because they all have bad margin breaks. SevOne fixed that a couple of years ago with the new Data Insight. It's fantastic."
"The most valuable feature for us is its flexibility to handle different systems and different functions."
"Technical support is 10/10; responses to questions are within 20 minutes and the longest time to be resolved was three days."
"It also gives us the closest thing to real-time insight into network performance that we have, with just a 10-second delay. It's very important for us to know the health of the infrastructure very quickly."
"It's a great solution for highlighting and discovering useful information regarding our network's elements."
"As an IT Manager this tool helps me sleep better knowing that SevOne is my eyes and ears watching the entire infrastructure."
"The out of the box reports and workflows are pretty good and they meet our requirements well."
"Fantastic – for money laid out vs. what you’re getting back, it's been great."
"What I like most about ManageEngine Applications Manager is its price point, apart from its technicalities. The solution is cheaper than its competitors. ManageEngine Applications Manager has helpful documentation that makes setting it up straightforward."
"What I like about ManageEngine Applications Manager is the ease of use and ease of deployment."
"Price is the big issue here in Pakistan and they offer a very good price."
"The most valuable features are: Takes care of all IT monitoring in one console: Server, apps and business services."
"Depending on the size of the environment, this is a solution that I recommend."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager maintains the historical data and it's easy for us to analyze the trends and patterns and fix them accordingly."
"We do not have pricing constraints as an organization, because we do have reservations about ManageEngine being functionally scalable."

Cons

"It needs a platform to add portals."
"The customizations are very hard. The person doing it has to be very good at analytics and has to be very good in all languages"
"There are a lot of pain points. My main problem is that we don't have a high availability system."
"The only thing that worries me with SevOne is that they were acquired by Turbonomic and now by IBM."
"Customer service is very bad. The support is a kind of blog where you leave your question or problem, then they try to resolve it as soon as possible."
"User-friendly, multi-tenancy."
"When I started using it, I tried adding one of the BroadWorks application servers into SevOne... it created thousands and thousands of objects from that one application server and we immediately ran out of license... It would help, when new objects are discovered, if there were a way to categorize those objects and to pick the part of the object you need..."
"The reporting of NMS is good, but it could be better."
"The information provided by ManageEngine is not deep-dive like IBM and CA provide."
"It can’t be configured to store APM Insight data for more than one month."
"They can improve the post-processing of the data."
"The inventory of assets needs improvement."
"At the moment, we are not finding this solution to be very stable. We've had a lot of calls with the vendor to sort things out."
"The agent often crashes when there is too much load on the application side. If a sudden storm of data comes in, the agent crashes down most of the time."
"Technical support can be problematic. They usually support us from India, but because of compliance requirements, that is not an acceptable support solution in Pakistan."
"Lacks an SIEM solution which can be found in other products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Prices per license are not huge, but they exist."
"A blocking point is the high upfront cost because it is challenging to get it accepted and the purchase approved."
"For the value that you get from SevOne, it's worth the price. There are a lot of cheaper alternatives on the market, and even free options. But they require more staff, more resources, and engineers with more advanced knowledge of monitoring. That's what makes SevOne worth the price."
"Have a bank of licenses, because it is about the number of objects (RAM, ports, CPU, etc.)."
"There are cheaper solutions available."
"The tool is not expensive. We were able to negotiate with SevOne on pricing."
"It is inexpensive compared to other monitoring tools."
"Choose a SevOne partner who can provide SevOne as a service and can deliver professional services and maintenance."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager has reasonable pricing. It's more affordable than other solutions in the market. My company has an instance-based license for ManageEngine Applications Manager. You can purchase a yearly subscription or a perpetual license. The standard license covers most features, but you can still have some paid add-ons."
"The solution's licensing costs are yearly."
"Its price is good."
"The licensing costs for ManageEngine Applications Manager are around $1,200 per year. For additional monitors, you have to pay extra."
"Price-wise, it is a cheap tool...The solution's licensing model is subscription-based, in which yearly payments are to be made."
"The cost of this solution is not too bad, although it could be cheaper considering what you're getting for the price."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"The annual licensing depends on the number of monitors you have connected. Once you get to two hundred monitors you can see the price reflect."
