Provides High Reliability and Data Security
• Data in the datahub refreshes nightly. As the data only refreshes once every day, it is necessary to have to wait for any changes to thesource systems to become available. The daily refresh can be extremely useful for reconciling data. • DataHub only displays details of current members of the Organization. So it has much limited data available for generation of dynamic reports. • DataHub is volatile. The records are completely re-loaded each day. It puts burden on the system. • There are very few summary tables available due to storage of data in a detailed format. • The detailed information is not stored in the DataHub. It is stored in the relevant source system. Only commonly required data is stored within the DataHub.

Has supported complex data pipeline creation but performance tuning and monitoring responsiveness need improvement
Sometimes, I see various performance issues with Informatica PowerCenter, including caching concerns, whether it's a joiner transformation or other transformations, so I believe the team can enhance the performance perspectives of these transformations. Additionally, sometimes the Informatica Monitor hangs or takes time to open the current run or logs, which the team can also look into. Informatica is transitioning to cloud solutions and discontinuing on-premise support after 2026, so when we discuss Informatica Cloud and its support, it becomes quite expensive for the organization compared to peers such as SnapLogic or Netezza, which offer lower pricing. Informatica Cloud Intelligence's pricing is notably high.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"All staff members and users can request an account which can be accessed from all PCs on the company’s network."
"When compared with other ETL or ELP tools, Informatica PowerCenter is the best for connecting to multiple sources, which is better when you have large loads."
"This is an amazing solution."
"It works with any multi-databases, so it works with Sybase, SQL Server. Also, the performance is really good and it is easy to use."
"It is UI friendly and has all the advantages of an ETL tool."
"With this product we can centralize all our ETL needs in one technology."
"The partitioning and optimization to help enhance our development is a very valuable aspect of Informatica PowerCenter."
"Good product if you are trying implement data quality, data integration, and data management projects."
"The most valuable aspects of Informatica PowerCenter are the many features, ease of use, and user-friendliness."

Cons

"DataHub is volatile; the records are completely re-loaded each day, which puts a burden on the system."
"There is some room for improvement in terms of pricing."
"It works stably but needs a dedicated professional admin in the project team."
"Some of the conversions are done inside the product. We use work tables that are created by the engine itself, but the names of the work tables are very long, and they don't have any meaning, which makes it a bit difficult to understand and follow exactly what is happening inside."
"Licensing is frustrating as you have to pay for some additional features."
"It would be good to recreate the entire interface to make it easier for users to build workflows."
"I found it is kind of weird that not all of the mapping changes are treated as true changes."
"There can be scalability issues. Huge amounts of data ingestion will impact performance."
"They should release new versions for the solution's on-premises setup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We have a site license, but we do pay by the division."
"Pricing for Informatica PowerCenter isn't cheap, but if I compare it with IBM, it's as expensive as IBM, however, Informatica PowerCenter is more innovative, especially when compared to a giant company such as IBM that has thousands of products. Informatica PowerCenter is limited only to data management, but it has new features that come out every quarter. Points for ease of use and flexibility go to Informatica PowerCenter, but price-wise, IBM and Informatica are equal because they're both expensive."
"According to what I've heard and read on various blogs, it's quite expensive when compared to similar competitive products."
"The licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"It is for big enterprises. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise."
"Since the solution's cost is higher, I rate the pricing as a five out of ten."
"The price could be better. It's very expensive. On a scale from one to five, I would give Informatica PowerCenter's price a one."
"Informatica PowerCenter is reasonably priced. It is less expensive than Pentaho. There is a standard version fee in Taiwan. It is a one-time yearly subscription price that is approximately $3,010 US dollars for three users."
