Cost-effective and good for small workloads while addressing update-driven challenges is needed
I use Azure Monitor and other monitoring solutions to support clients in Accenture's managed services. We support multiple environments, primarily on cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, and also on-premises environments with operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Solaris, among others…

Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The virtualization aspect of the solution functions similar to VMware is one of its most valuable features…It is a stable product."
"Microsoft has documentation that is easy to find, helpful, and readily available."
"Technical support from Microsoft is excellent, rated ten out of ten."
"It allowed us to add on servers and fix things in an expedient manner."
"It is a stable product."
"The organization has realized the benefits on smaller data center space, power, cooling, etc. apart from the benefit that the virtualization layer brings in."
"It is a great advantage for any company that is using a Microsoft Windows server."
"Microsoft's a good name for legacy support and solutions"
"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."

Cons

"I would love to see other options for connecting VMs to large data storage."
"I also use VMware which I find to be more scalable and stable overall."
"Hyper-V serves its purpose, but some areas may not be as feature-rich as alternatives like VMware ESXi."
"Security, computing balance, and taking snapshots could be improved. Features like DRS and memory ballooning could be added."
"There are bugs, and this should be resolved by Microsoft."
"Sometimes there's a bit of slowness in the VMs."
"Hyper-V requires improvement with manageability."
"I am using this solution with E-Notes. I heard that there will be future improvements in integration of the E-notes systems. This would be very helpful."
"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is competitive, and a bit less than other options on the market."
"The licensing costs depend on the environment you have. If you have an environment of less than 10 or 30 VMs, It's nice to have a Hyper-V, but if you have more than 100 or 200, I would recommend using VCenter, VMware virtualization, especially for an on-premise solution."
"This is a fairly expensive product because it balances the needs of security."
"Hyper-V is part of Windows Server, so there are no extra costs for the product."
"Licensing cost depends on the edition you choose. There are two main options: Standard and Datacenter. With a Datacenter license, you can only create two virtual machines that are covered by the license itself. You can create more VMs, but they won't be licensed and could result in charges during an audit."
"It is one of the cheapest products in the market."
"Once we bought the datacenter version of the server, we did away with worrying about the cost of licensing our VMs separately"
"There is a perpetual license to use the solution and there are additional fees for support."
"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."

Hyper-V 2012 R2 vs. VMware vSphere 5.5
I was won with Hyper-V 2012R2 recently and the table below based on customer RFP (edited). This articles all about technical, there is not related with TCO/ROI, licensing cost, “political”, etc. Another to noted is the Windows Server 2012 licenses is based on 2 socket CPU, meanwhile…
