Cost-effective and good for small workloads while addressing update-driven challenges is needed
I use Azure Monitor and other monitoring solutions to support clients in Accenture's managed services. We support multiple environments, primarily on cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, and also on-premises environments with operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Solaris, among others…

Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is stable and the cost is reasonable."
"It runs our most critical workloads and supports all our branch offices."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"The simplicity and intuitiveness of the platform. It was a very simple adaptation, if you have any experience in virtualization."
"The installation was straightforward."
"The performance is very good."
"With each update, the security of this solution just gets better and better. It is very stable."
"We appreciate how easy this solution is to implement on standalone severs."
"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."

Cons

"We would like to have a cloning function added to this product."
"I have found it difficult to manage more than one virtual machine."
"Hyper-V could benefit with improvements to their management interface."
"They can hot add NICs to the VMs. However, there is still not the ability to hot add virtual processors to running VMs."
"The backup site could be better. We used to face a lot of issues, and we are looking to solve that now. We are in the process of moving all the infrastructure to the cloud. It could also use more integration on the management part. We also need more integration on the monitoring sites."
"Many vendors, such as Cisco and HPE, are discontinuing support for Hyper-V as they believe it does not have a significant market share."
"Storage via SMB3."
"They could work on lowering the cost of the solution."
"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing and licensing is pretty good."
"Cost-wise, what one gets is directly proportional to the price paid. If the need for capacity doubles, then the price also doubles."
"Hyper-V is free when you buy Windows Server. You only have to pay for engaging in the management aspect in System Center."
"Hyper-V is cost-effective and is a one-time purchase. Microsoft has multiple licensing options available, such as a subscription model and an outside purchase model that customers can choose as per their requirements."
"I do not have any comments about pricing or licensing of the product."
"There is no cost associated with it if customers are already using Microsoft products."
"We did not have to pay extra money for the Failover Clustering feature."
"It's not expensive."
"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."
