Cost-effective and good for small workloads while addressing update-driven challenges is needed
I use Azure Monitor and other monitoring solutions to support clients in Accenture's managed services. We support multiple environments, primarily on cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, and also on-premises environments with operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Solaris, among others…

Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of use of Hyper-V is the most valuable feature."
"The solution's technical support is the best."
"I think the cluster environment is a good feature of Hyper-V because, if something happens, then it will automatically move to some other mode. This is a great feature of the solution."
"It is a very stable product. We have not had any issues with Hyper-V crashing itself."
"It utilizes the hardware so there are multiple applications running on one hypervisor."
"It allows for quick deployment of servers and workloads."
"One of the most valuable features of Hyper-V is ease to use."
"The initial setup of Hyper-V is far easier than VMware."
"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."

Cons

"The live migration feature needs improvement."
"The only negative thing I heard was that the baseline price is very, very attractive relative to VMware, however, the vCenter counterpart, the thing that brings it all together, is quite pricey."
"There is a hard limitation of 20 gigs per file with Dropbox, so you've got to overcome that by chunking the zip files into something smaller and manageable."
"Hyper-V could benefit with improvements to their management interface."
"The cost and licensing can be improved."
"The pricing and technical support can be improved."
"We have our scientific network, and it's run off the university sever, and we need two servers to optimize our scientific work, such as the mathematics work. Then you have to work with Python and Java, and Microsoft isn't the best option for this kind of work"
"The only issues we have had recently are with Windows updates that are built into the Windows server with Hyper-V."
"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs depend on the environment you have. If you have an environment of less than 10 or 30 VMs, It's nice to have a Hyper-V, but if you have more than 100 or 200, I would recommend using VCenter, VMware virtualization, especially for an on-premise solution."
"We rent our licenses for this solution, which means that we also have access to premium-level support. The rental cost is payable annually and includes a number of products that work with this solution. It also allows us to run unlimited virtual machines without needing a license for each one."
"I would not say that it is a totally reasonably priced product as it is merged with our overall costs associated with Microsoft products. We bought some enterprise licenses for our company's data center for Windows Server 2019."
"Hyper-V's price is essentially zero because it's a feature of the operating system that I can enable and disable at will."
"There is a license required to use Hyper-V and there are bundle packages you can purchase making it cheaper than other solutions, such as VMware. Additionally, if there is a lot of guest OS that requires Windows, then Microsoft becomes cheaper."
"I do not have experience with the pricing or the licensing of the product."
"The Hyper-V pricing and licensing are very good."
"Since we have an agreement with Microsoft, the solution is not very expensive."
"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."

Hyper-V 2012 R2 vs. VMware vSphere 5.5
I was won with Hyper-V 2012R2 recently and the table below based on customer RFP (edited). This articles all about technical, there is not related with TCO/ROI, licensing cost, “political”, etc. Another to noted is the Windows Server 2012 licenses is based on 2 socket CPU, meanwhile…
