Has improved performance for mission-critical workloads and enabled seamless non-disruptive upgrades
The availability is 99.99%, which is the main factor any customer would need because their data should be available whenever they want to access it. This is one main critical thing. It is very easy to upgrade since Pure Storage FlashArray handles it well. Everything is non-disruptive now; previously, there were forklift shifts, but now that is not the case. Pure Storage FlashArray says no to forklift upgrades. Usually hardware requires downtime, but Pure Storage FlashArray has improved their footprint so that they are not asking for downtime; everything is just a non-disruptive activity, which is why customers are more inclined towards Pure Storage FlashArray. Customers want more of the models in their environment due to the performance they are giving, and everything is in one Pure1 Array console where we can view all the models on one page or just an orchestration tool. You don't miss anything; you have replication, notifications about replication, and details about which host groups replication is happening in and if that replication is successful or failed. On a daily basis, our purpose is to create volumes for infrastructure; our daily activities include creating volumes and mapping them to the host, doing any migrations from a VM, clearing the data stores, and carving the volumes to those VMs. One key factor is the data compression with a ratio of 5:1, focusing on space efficiency, inline deduplication, and the compression Pure Storage FlashArray works on; that is a major factor we can suggest to any customer. Analytical capabilities are crucial. Daily, we check the throughput and consumption, and Pure Storage FlashArray provides predictions for one year regarding usage. This prediction helps plan updates well ahead. For support, we just raise a case, and they follow up and get it done. There is also AI readiness, but with the model R2, we don't have much of that AI readiness. For others, we do have AI readiness that predicts capacity based on daily or monthly trends, enabling us to analyze how much space we need or if we need to expand the disk shelf. From an operational point of view, a good feature is that if you accidentally delete a volume, it will be retained in the destroyed state for the next twenty-four hours, which is not the same with any other vendor. I have worked in this storage domain for the past fifteen years, and this option is remarkable, benefiting any L1 or L2 engineer. Additionally, from a compliance perspective, Pure Storage FlashArray has REST APIs enabled. I have not explored automation much, but from a security standpoint, it is strong with encryption data. If you want to automate, you can easily integrate with all clouds and explore Pure Cloud for scheduling workloads, including volume creation. Customers find benefit in Pure Storage FlashArray's single management pane of glass due to the dual controller and active-active setup. If one of the controllers goes down, all workloads automatically shift to the other controller, ensuring their data is safe and accessible at all times. This is a highlighted feature that any customer desires because their data should always be accessible. For SAN workloads, we use Pure Storage FlashArray because for SAN FC fiber channel, we don't use it; we use NetApp for NAS activities. We have clearly split this, so SAN is for mission-critical applications, while network-attached storage handles file systems. This architecture helps us maximize the benefit from Pure Storage FlashArray due to the significant workloads from this giant retail client. From a footprint and energy consumption perspective, you can see energy consumption from the Pure1 storage portal on a daily basis, and it is very compact. The three models we use consume only three units, which is quite low. From a footprint and data center perspective, it doesn't occupy much space. As everything moves to cloud, there are requirements to avoid excess spending on data centers, and Pure Storage FlashArray is efficient in energy consumption and is environmentally friendly.

Inexpensive with fast performance enhances data storage efficiency
We are using Huawei OceanStor Dorado for Hyper Metro and under Datacore products and some Sunpro products Huawei OceanStor Dorado is fast and has significantly improved data storage efficiency. The fast performance and reasonable pricing of Huawei OceanStor Dorado are the main reasons we sell…

Offers flexibility and top-notch technology
You can go to bed peacefully if you have a NetApp. If you have NetApp within your data center, you get to know about power failure if you are using it. Your NetApp will still come alive. Even if it does not come alive, I can say that it is not like other tools when it comes to dealing with power failure. The tool is affordable, and the technology is top-notch. It is the only technology that has software for what we call inline compression and deduplication. All the products under NetApp are aiming to use AI. I know that you can achieve whatever you want to do with NetApp EF-Series All Flash Arrays. I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

"The support has been very good from Pure Storage FlashArray."
"After the implementation, the time to run the process was reduced to minutes and it did not require any manual intervention from our DBAs."
"It has a small footprint, as the current system is only four units per rack, it's got good speed for the price as it uses eMLC, an advanced type of SSD, and it's very scalable, and we're not paying for capacity as we get free controllers every three years."
"The solution is stable with low vulnerabilities."
"The most valuable feature is replication."
"The pricing of Pure Storage is all-inclusive; it is very fair, very easy, and the solution is a lot easier to install than the Dell EMC product."
"The solution is very reliable."
"Pure Storage is an amazing solution."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the overall simplicity."
"The installation and management are very easy."
"The integrated Huawei Flash technology within OceanStor Dorado stands out as one of the most valuable features."

"The majority of our customers find this solution simple to use."
"The deduplication features and the graphical user interface (GUI) of the solution are the most valuable to me."
"It provides multi-protocol, which is what gives the edge when it comes to big lineage PC workloads."
"The stability, speed, and reliability are the solution's best features. The information is also very secure."
"Having the option of such high-speed storage in the data center is what makes it valuable."
"Being able to partition different virtual volumes of storage is really valuable for us."
"The main advantage of this solution is performance."
"Rapid deployment, easy integration management and cloning of areas."
"We found all of those things in NetApp."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."

Cons

"I wish they could collaborate more with the other vendors internally, instead of us opening cases with Cisco, HPE, VMware, etc."
"I would like to have support available in Spanish."
"Organizations with security concerns that prevent cloud utilization would benefit from a wider range of instruments available for offline operation. Currently, the limited selection of on-premise instruments hinders Pure Storage FlashArray's ability to compete effectively with other vendors."
"The integration capabilities could be improved."
"I’d love to view the average, minimum and maximum performance in the reports (Analysis tab - Performance) but it is only graphics and you need to export data in CSV to find this information."
"The higher education moves slowly. We are still looking forward to implementing the full list of existing features."
"I would not say anything because we still do not use Everpure FlashArray fully."
"I recognize it's a difficult challenge, but I would like to see them make the pricing more reasonable."
"If they implement a backup solution directly into the OceanStor then it will be a valuable feature."
"They should add a feature to the platform to help us manage storage communication with one of the vendors."
"The solution's price could be better."
"This solution does not support VMware VVols 2.0."
"Difficult integration with third parties."
"In additional features, it would be easier to do snapshots on a regular basis. So, like, a new feature that would allow you to take snapshots every hour."
"Engineers with two to three years of experience with Huawei will find that Huawei OceanStor Dorado is a bit complicated to use compared to other Huawei storages."
"The user interface of Huawei OceanStor Dorado could be more user-friendly. Other solutions, such as EMC, have a better user interface."
"It's very difficult to manage the CLI."
"From a manageability perspective, I like the look and the feel of the FAS series better than the EF. I think it's more straightforward and simplistic."
"NetApp could improve the speed of the rebuilding rate."
"The solution's technical support is not as good as it is supposed to be since you have to push them to get support."
"Things like the FlexClones, SnapVault, SnapMirror, all of that. Some of it's available on the EF series, but we like what we have in the FAS system."
"I guess the user interface could be a little more streamlined."
"Obviously to a small, medium size business, you're probably not going to recommend it because it's probably overkill."
"When it's a software-related issue, it is difficult to find an engineer that can help you."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pure Storage FlashArray is expensive."
"They have a standardized fee; it's been the same price for 10 years straight. I am happy with the price — I think it's good."
"I'm good with the licensing. Of course, pricing can always be less... It's actually not a bad pricing model, considering I don't have to rip-and-replace."
"The price is too high."
"Because the price is a bit higher than other products, the data reduction equalizes the price with amount of the data reduction."
"The Evergreen Storage subscription is great, because then I get new controllers every three years."
"I don't know the exact cost but it's around $1,000."
"Pure Storage has not helped to reduce our HANA licensing costs."
"Huawei OceanStor Dorado has a competitive price compared to other solutions."
"There are some costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, depending on the requirements."
"You need to pay for the license."
"We usually recommend our customers choose advanced licensing and enterprise companies are more inclined to choose this solution because it is more cost-effective than competitors."
"It's not easy to receive an upgrade license of Huawei OceanStor Dorado. It's easy to buy OceanStor with several features, but when you want to add on features later it's not easy. I had some problems."
"The solution's licensing structure needs improvement."
"I rate the pricing a six on a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive, not cost-effective, and ten is cheap."
"Huawei has very good pricing. They have some promotions that can be taken advantage of at certain times of the year, such as the end of December. They are providing aggressive pricing. In the Pakistan market, they are ready to beat any vendor in Pakistan because they want to grab the market."
"The cost of our license is approximately $200,000 over three years for NetApp EF-Series All Flash Arrays. There can be additional costs for storage. For example, if you want to have eight terabytes."
"The pricing of the solution is expensive, considering the initial investment required...At the end of the product's life cycle, it could get cheaper, but the initial investment in NetApp makes it one of the most expensive solutions."
"Price-wise, NetApp EF-Series All Flash Arrays is costlier than Dell. You have to buy a lot of licenses separately."
"The price point for EF is considerably lower than the alternatives."
"NetApp EF-Series All Flash Arrays is an expensive product."
"One has to opt for a perpetual-based licensing model for one year or three years. After three years, you need to renew the license."
"Adding more capacity will increase the cost."
"They need to improve its pricing. The storage market is dying. So, they need to improve the price because it should reach all people. NetApp is one of the top ones, and they are charging a little bit of royalty as compared to other storage solutions."
