Gaining seamless monitoring and customization capabilities
One of the best features of HPE OneView is that you get a complete architecture with a single click. The analytics and monitoring tools in HPE OneView are superior to other network monitoring platforms such as Nagios. The features include multiple modules that allow you to create and write your own scripts based on your requirements for different servers such as database servers or tapping roaming servers. There is more feasibility when using HP Service Manager because, unlike other tools with predefined standards for script writing, we have the option for customization as per our choice, and dashboard reports can be customized.

A suitable choice for unified and efficient infrastructure monitoring across diverse environments providing user-friendly GUI, cost-effectiveness, and versatility
We use it for this specific client, they've deployed multiple instances of it across various locations to facilitate monitoring. To effectively monitor their infrastructure, it seems necessary to implement additional monitoring solutions for all three types of devices they have Nagios Fusion…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"OneView allowed us to accelerate the base configuration far faster and more accurately than ever before with manual configuration procedures."
"It has improved the working of our organization by providing more consistency within our firmware, drivers, firmware baseline and server profiling; thus it provides more consistency."
"The single-pane-of-glass and a full view of the environment are the most valuable features."
"Everything we ask for is there."
"The hardware's reliability and manageability are important criteria while selecting a vendor."
"I like the ability that we can manage multiple enclosures within OneView; it's like one stop shopping where you can manage all the server profiles and do everything from a blade enclosure standpoint using OneView."
"Universality of product Broad range of integration points for third-party software Broad range of tools to create executive and operations dashboards."
"I don't have to use CD-ROMs or anything like that to provision the servers."
"Nagios Fusion version 12.8 excels in user-friendly GUI design, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment."
"It's very easy to manage and monitor it."
"It is easier for client installation, and the configurations are doable even for a newcomer in the field."
"Being open source lets us customize it for our monitoring needs, saving us money."

Cons

"The network configuration part of HPE OneView needs improvement. The solution has way too many features, and there's a need for proper configuration indicators to be put in place."
"I have to chop it up into smaller parts, because I have an installation in Europe and it covers the whole world. That is not so good. They need to be more localized, so I am going to chop it up into smaller bits."
"It's a little slow sometimes. Overall, I think it does what it's supposed to do. I think that as they evolve it, it'll get quicker."
"The older platform requires iLO licenses but does not require the purchase of servers. This platform has problems because it is dependent on old class enclosures and hardware that cannot link or be managed with the solution."
"I saw, maybe three years ago or two years ago here, or in Barcelona, at the HPE Discover conference, a feature that you can update Clusterware with VMware. But the feature is still not live in production. Currently, you have to do all the firmware updates and then you have to do the VMware updates. So you have two reboots and it would be better if it was just one."
"The solution's console can be improved by making it more user-friendly and adding the capability to filter the reports out using only the information required."
"HPE OneView should be able to cover more device models apart from ProLiant and Synergy."
"As much as we've used OneView right now, it's probably not something that we're going to move forward with as a bigger footprint."
"Adding application performance monitoring to the product alongside infrastructure monitoring would make it a more complete and useful solution."
"In future iterations of this solution, there is a desire for more seamless integration with other monitoring software."
"There are some bugs, although not that many. There are some situations where the solution is not stable but the number of problems is not very high."
"Nagios Fusion should include a 'remember me' option when logging in, so we don't need to enter a username and password every time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I feel the product's price falls a bit on the higher side."
"The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"I am happy with the price."
"HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc."
"HPE could lower the price."
"I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"The pricing is quite reasonable, especially when compared to the broader market."
