Efficient management and upgrades streamline complex setups
My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory. Constant issues arise, leading to frequent replacement of blade parts. Additionally, the upgrade process is lengthy, requiring careful planning as we cannot match ESXi versions without aligning OneView first, leading to delays.

A suitable choice for unified and efficient infrastructure monitoring across diverse environments providing user-friendly GUI, cost-effectiveness, and versatility
We use it for this specific client, they've deployed multiple instances of it across various locations to facilitate monitoring. To effectively monitor their infrastructure, it seems necessary to implement additional monitoring solutions for all three types of devices they have Nagios Fusion…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think this is a very good solution if you want to have your compliance up-to-date, directly available, and you want to automate."
"The ease of management with HPE OneView is excellent."
"With OneView, an expandable and programmable solution from HP, the door opens for partnerships in the healthcare IT field and HIPAA compliance."
"Go ahead and do it. It gives you that one-pane-of-glass and makes life a lot easier than trying to go into each server and seeing what's going on."
"We could literally swap out a piece of hardware, slide one back into the chassis, and immediately - about three reboots later - it was identical. We didn't have to worry about configuring it, we didn't have to spend any time getting anything into place. It came back and it healed the environment almost immediately."
"The solution's technical support was great...The initial setup of HPE OneView was easy."
"Once setup, then it is more or less, forget about it; it just works away in the background."
"The OneView Global Dashboard is very user-friendly and it can be used for monitoring the power consumption and temperature of the data center and racks."
"Being open source lets us customize it for our monitoring needs, saving us money."
"Nagios Fusion version 12.8 excels in user-friendly GUI design, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment."
"It is easier for client installation, and the configurations are doable even for a newcomer in the field."

Cons

"Integration could be improved. Sometimes OneView doesn't identify physical hardware."
"The speed and performance of the solution are areas where the product lacks and needs improvement."
"I’d like to see more functionality going towards the hybrid IT."
"Our first experience with the technical support was with one of the other products that is associated with OneView, which is ICSP, and the support was pretty poor."
"It needs to support more types of equipment. Some types of equipment we have are not supported with OneView, so we cannot monitor those on OneView."
"The interface is a bit bland. It does its job, but it could have a better interface."
"Version 1.0 was ridiculous. The setup was way too complex compared to iLO, Onboard Administrator, Virtual Connect Manager."
"The interface is a bit bland. It does its job, but it could have a better interface."
"Nagios Fusion should include a 'remember me' option when logging in, so we don't need to enter a username and password every time."
"Adding application performance monitoring to the product alongside infrastructure monitoring would make it a more complete and useful solution."
"There are some bugs, although not that many. There are some situations where the solution is not stable but the number of problems is not very high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD."
"I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"HPE could lower the price."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"Use it. It is free."
"I am happy with the price."
"The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
"The pricing is quite reasonable, especially when compared to the broader market."
