Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of this solution are the integrations and IPS throughput.""The Firepower+ISE+AMP for endpoint integration is something that really stands it out with other vendor solutions. They have something called pxGrid and i think it is already endorsed by IETF. This allows all devices on the network to communicate.""The Adversity Malware Protection (AMP) feature is the most valuable. It is also very easy to use. Every technical user can operate this solution without any difficulty. The dashboard of Cisco Firepower has every tool that a security operator needs. You can find every resource that you need to operate through this dashboard.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""One of the most valuable features is the AMP. It's very good and very reliable when it comes to malicious activities, websites, and viruses.""The customer service/technical support is very good with this solution.""Its Snort 3 IPS has better flexibility as far as being able to write rules. This gives me better granularity.""If configured, Firepower provides us with application visibility and control."

"Very reliable solution with good scalability and straightforward implementation.""Five out of five ROI.""The installation is easy, we have not had any complaints from our customers."

More Hillstone E-Series Pros →

"The most valuable features are unified threat management which provides security intelligence and the VPN for both site-to-site and remote access.""Content filtering and application rules are the most valuable features. It is also easy to configure.""With the main firewall routing there, we can do connectivity point-to-point. On the low bandwidth we can connect in all the branches with my corporate office.""We are able to block whatever we want to block by using this product. It provides all required security features, such as content filtering, VPN, in one box. Before switching to SonicWall, we had specified all required features.""The most valuable feature is the user-friendly navigation.""Good site categorization and application controls.""The solution boasts good performance and is easy to use.""The most valuable features are security and technical support."

Cons
"The visibility for VPN is one big part. The policy administration could be improved in terms of customizations and flexibility for changing it to our needs.""The central management tool is not comfortable to use. You need to have a specific skill set. This is an important improvement for management because I would like to log into Firepower, see the dashboard, and generate a real-time report, then I question my team.""The initial setup could be simplified, as it can be complex for new users.""It's mainly the UI and the management parts that need improvement. The most impactful feature when you're using it is the user interface and the user experience.""This product is managed using the Firepower Management Center (FMC), but it would be better if it also supported the command-line interface (CLI).""Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""I would like to see improvement when you create policies on Snort 3 IPS on Cisco Firepower. On Snort 2, it was more like a UI page where you had some multiple choices where you could tweak your config. On Snort 3, the idea is more to build some rules on the text file or JSON file, then push it. So, I would like to see a lot of improvements here.""The initial setup was a bit complex. It wasn't a major challenge, but due to our requirements and network, it was not very straightforward but still easy enough."

"SSL VPN license cost is not cheap."

More Hillstone E-Series Cons →

"From a support perspective, if we're talking tech support I think Silver Partners, Gold Partners, Platinum, whatever level, should have a different number to call. End users can call tech support over at SonicWall if they've paid for support as part of their AGSS or whatever services they bought. The end-user can call, or we can call, however, I don't want to be calling the same line that an end user's calling. I don't want the same response time. I need a different level of expertise.""The dashboard needs to be improved.""The areas we would like to see improvement include more features available similar to the equivalent FortiGate appliance, e.g. SSL encryption and inspection. Two-factor authentication capability would be another additional feature that could be included in the next release.""In terms of what needs to be improved, I would say better load balancing and data filtering.""The marketing of SonicWall has to be increased. Currently, when it comes to firewalls, most people go for Cisco and Palo Alto. SonicWall should improve its marketing and branding policies to increase sales. Other than that, it is good.""The price could be better for us in Bolivia.""I would like to see more integration with other platforms.""Sometimes there is a glitch between the network connection. Last time, something happened on our IP phone, the SonicWall team did some updates to fix the issue. However, glitches happen very rarely. I did not experience any other types of problems."
