Enhanced security and streamlined management drive efficient connectivity
Open source is a standard solution where you take a gray box or white box and put the software from your end. You can do programming with Ansible and make the network work in the software-defined mode, providing automation and management capabilities. I am currently working with VMware. It integrates easily with everything and can work with any system. When discussing micro-segmentation, it enhances security, providing more secure data in your data center while allowing for extra layers of security outside your data center. If you have an ACI, there is communication between locations, keeping your data secure in your data center and throughout the path it takes, such as to SD-WAN or the cloud. I work with cloud solutions including AWS, Azure, GCP, and private cloud. My overall rating for VMware NSX is 8.5 out of 10.

Pros

"Overall, I rate CloudHive nine points out of ten. It is better than other segmentation solutions."
"CloudHive offers benefits through its solution architecture, providing high reliability and easy integration with third-party systems."
"I am impressed with the tool's protection."
"One of the big improvements between the NSX-V and NSX-T is that in NSX-T you are no longer dependent on V-Center anymore."
"It provides a single pane of glass. You can do the switching, routing, load balancing, IPS, IDS, etc. Everything is under one umbrella. So, there is no vendor dependency over there."
"It operates on a logical level, providing a comprehensive and centralized way to manage your network resources."
"The alert features are the most valuable."
"Provides flexibility to deploy and have network virtualization on different types of firewalls."
"The best part is the blueprint creation where I can create their things and then move on to the target environment."
"The organization of it is logical, useful, and intuitive."

Cons

"While the solution is comprehensive, there could be potential for adding AI features like traffic analysis and attack analysis automation to enhance functionality."
"The price is rather high."
"We would to have a reverse proxy. This would add great value to the solution."
"There are sometimes mismatch in the control, the details and what you actually see on the transport note."
"I would rate this product an eight because it's a good product but it needs more work. They should fix some of the bugs."
"This solution is really unusable from my perspective at this point. Overall, I would rate the solution a one of ten."
"It could be cheaper!"
"There could be an improvement in regards to security."
"Despite being somewhat behind in the cybersecurity field, VMware should develop a cloud and a red team to continuously monitor for new malware and ransomware."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Pricing and licensing could be improved as we are a government entity. Lower pricing could always help."
"VMware NSX is expensive and everything is licensed. We have to pay for each individual feature."
"VMware has a subscription and perpetual license. In the New Year, they're changing many things about the licensing model. Previously, NSX was licensed according to the number of sockets inside the appliance, so we bought VMware licenses based on that. However, that may have changed this year. We are still contacting the vendors to understand the new licensing strategy."
"The price is significantly high and it can be a hurdle for many potential users."
"You can scale NSX if you have the resources, but it's usually expensive and complex to scale up."
"The price of this product is too high."
"There is a license required for this solution and there is also a support license available. The price of the solution could be better."
"The solution is reasonable at the local level."
