Improves security and has reliable integration and minimal host impact

Improves network security with micro-segmentation but setup is complex
I value the ability to dynamically configure our network on the fly using VMware NSX. This flexibility is a huge advantage because it allows us to avoid static configurations that come with traditional hardware setups. Additionally, the micro-segmentation feature is beneficial for adhering to strict security regulations from our security department.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"CloudHive offers benefits through its solution architecture, providing high reliability and easy integration with third-party systems."
"Overall, I rate CloudHive nine points out of ten. It is better than other segmentation solutions."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It follows a certain structure and you won't miss a step. It's all on the same level, step by step."
"The most valuable feature is the integration with the firewall."
"It's very important for them to have small footprints and have as much services in their servers, as possible."
"Provides flexibility to deploy and have network virtualization on different types of firewalls."
"The most valuable features for us at this early stage are the interface and the integration with existing VMware solutions."
"We secured our organisation with Micro-segmentation."
"NSX gives us the ability to put our network, NSX, onto any network there is, which allows us not to have to go to the network team to create networks our VLANs for networks."
"Some of the key features I find most valuable are the highly graphical user interface, virtualization of networks, and Microsoft application compatibility. It has all the functionality that we require."

Cons

"While the solution is comprehensive, there could be potential for adding AI features like traffic analysis and attack analysis automation to enhance functionality."
"The cost of the solution has room for improvement."
"One aspect that needs improvement is the need for further automation."
"Since most people are very much used to physical networking, they find it difficult to use VMware NSX in the initial stage."
"The training costs a minimum of $3,000, which is expensive and should be reduced."
"It could be more user-friendly, but it's manageable. When we add a specific node to this particular NSX and the configuration changes, it won't push through the errors where required, but it'll accept it. However, while using it, we will have issues. It can also be more stable."
"The support needs improvement."
"We would to have a reverse proxy. This would add great value to the solution."
"The network-extending capabilities for the physical environment need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"VMware NSX is expensive and everything is licensed. We have to pay for each individual feature."
"The price of VMware NSX is optimal. Additionally, the price of the solution can be negotiated with the vendor. Many areas of the solution can impact the cost, such as features, time for onboarding, and support needed."
"The price is based on the virtual desktop infrastructure(VDI) side and also is dependant on the size of the environment. The price is expensive and it could attract more purchasers in smaller organisations if it was reduced."
"I'm unable to give information on the pricing or licensing cost of VMware NSX because I've never been someone who looks into the economic part of any security or virtualization solutions. That's handled by an entirely different team, and I don't even have the slightest idea about the costs associated with the solution, though I've heard pricing for VMware NSX is on the higher side."
"We haven't had to hire a dedicated network engineer because NSX handles 90 percent of it. The reduced overhead in terms of managing networks has been the biggest plus."
"VMware NSX isn't cheap."
"The cost of the solution is a bit high."
"VMware has a subscription and perpetual license. In the New Year, they're changing many things about the licensing model. Previously, NSX was licensed according to the number of sockets inside the appliance, so we bought VMware licenses based on that. However, that may have changed this year. We are still contacting the vendors to understand the new licensing strategy."
