We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Google's technical support is very good.""I like the monitoring feature.""The cloud login enables us to get our logs from the different platforms that we currently use.""The most valuable feature is the multi-cloud integration, where there is support for both GCP and AWS.""Our company has a corporate account for Google Cloud and so our systems and clusters integrate really well.""It's easy to use.""We find the solution to be stable.""Provides visibility into the performance uptime."

"I really like the user interface and how it works.""It is very stable. We have not had any problems.""We did not encounter any issues with scalability. It is almost seamless to add new index (storage) or search (used to analyze the data) nodes to the cluster.""The most valuable feature is the log aggregation, being able to scan through all of the logs.""I like Splunk's data aggregation and search capabilities.""There are a lot of third-party applications that can be installed.""Splunk's strongest suit is its user interface. We can integrate multiple solutions and adjust settings in the Splunk interface.""The data analysis part is good in Splunk, which is something that I like the most. It is also quite easy to use. Its dashboards, visualizations, and analytics are good."

Cons
"While we are satisfied with the overall performance, in certain cases we must add additional metrics and additional tools like Grafana and Dynatrace.""It could be even more automated.""This solution could be improved if it offered the ability to analyze charts, such as a solution like Kibana.""It is difficult to estimate in advance how much something is going to cost.""The logging functionality could be better.""The product provides minimal metrics that are insufficient.""It could be more stable.""Lacking sufficient operations documentation."

More Google Cloud's operations suite (formerly Stackdriver) Cons →

"An area of improvement would be the licensing of the solution. They need a free license, which would allow faster lead times.""It needs more thoroughly tested releases. Every new big version (6, 7, etc.) has had so many bugs that it makes me wary of customers upgrading right away.""My biggest struggle with Splunk in general is memorizing all the commands. If I want to know which users have logged in between certain hours, I cannot write that query out. It would be helpful to have AI so that I can explain in simple terms what I want and then the search gives that back to me. I am waiting for that.""The cluster environment should be improved. We have a cluster. In the Splunk cluster environment, in the case of heavy searches and heavy load, the Splunk cluster goes down, and we have to put it in the maintenance mode to get it back. We are not able to find the actual culprit for this issue. I know that cluster has RF and SF, but it has been down so many times. There should be something in Splunk to help users to find the reason and the solution for such issues.""While there aren't any major areas where the solution has to be improved, there are certain integrations that are still not available. I would specifically like to see legacy applications integrated.""Make it easy to use and the cost cheaper. This will help all organisations to implement Splunk.""Splunk is not very user-friendly. It has a complex architecture in comparison to other solutions on the market.""Splunk is more expensive than other solutions."

    Overview

    Real-time log management and analysis

Cloud Logging is a fully managed service that performs at scale and can ingest application and platform log data, as well as custom log data from GKE environments, VMs, and other services inside and outside of Google Cloud. Get advanced performance, troubleshooting, security, and business insights with Log Analytics, integrating the power of BigQuery into Cloud Logging.

    Built-in metrics observability at scale

Cloud Monitoring provides visibility into the performance, uptime, and overall health of cloud-powered applications. Collect metrics, events, and metadata from Google Cloud services, hosted uptime probes, application instrumentation, and a variety of common application components. Visualize this data on charts and dashboards and create alerts so you are notified when metrics are outside of expected ranges.

Keep your existing visualization, analysis, and alerting services, as this data can be queried with PromQL or Cloud Monitoring.
