Good visualization features and easy dashboard creation and administration
We use most of the features from the analytics menu, like getting trends and forecasts. We also love creating stories by combining sheets together, which is a really nice feature. We frequently utilize visualizations using maps and different objects, all with rich coloring options. And tooltips are absolutely essential for us. Tooltips, like the pop-up descriptions when you hover over some object or graph. Those tooltips in Tableau are great features. Tableau even lets you call another dashboard from within the tooltip itself, which is truly amazing. I've been following Tableau, and they're definitely making great progress. For instance, they added some generative AI features which I haven't used yet.

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing and licensing policies are comparatively cheaper than other products in the market ."
"There is some additional licensing that we needed to purchase because we were touching data outside of our core data platform. The cost was approximately $25,000 for the additional licenses, which were approximate 45 licenses. For the application itself, updates, and the core platform it was approximately $50,000. Giving a total cost of $75,000 annually for our usage of IBM Cognos."
"It is quite pricy. I think Microsoft BI is cheaper. Tableau might also be cheaper, but it also depends on the usage. If you have very many users, Cognos can be a problem. It could be cheaper than Tableau but not for so many users. If you have a few thousand users, Tableau, which is generally quite expensive, can be cheaper than Cognos."
"On a scale from one to ten where one is low pricing and ten is high pricing, I would rate this solution at eight."
"There is a standard license required to use this solution. There are some additional tools but I am not sure if they are an extra cost."
"It is pretty expensive."
"The solution is affordable."
"IBM Cognos offers competitive pricing similar to other BI vendors in the market."

"In Indian Rupees, Tableau costs about 30,000 to 40,000 per year."
"We pay for the enterprise license for Tableau. The licensing could be cheaper and more flexible."
"The price is definitely a point because smaller firms don't use Tableau as it's an expensive tool."
"The pricing for Tableau is the same as the other products in the market."
"The pricing of Tableau should be better to remain competitive in the market, especially when compared to alternatives."
"It is fairly expensive. I have no idea what they paid. We were on an enterprise license, so whatever it is they licensed at the enterprise level is what we paid."
"For big business, Tableau could be expensive as having a lot of Tableau server users (entering with a browser to reports) could be a bit expensive."
"This license is on a yearly basis."
