We can go granular on each endpoint, quarantine non-compliant machines, and target vulnerabilities through scripting
Logging would be one area for improvement. When we're troubleshooting, there are not a lot of clear things on Google that we can look up for ourselves. When we have an issue with it, we have to call the company to get the vendors involved. The logging of Forescout is horrible compared to other things that we've used. We don't use ISE, but based on what we heard from the users we've reached out to who do use ISE, the logging capabilities of ISE are better, and troubleshooting is so much easier with ISE than it is with Forescout. It doesn't have a lot of end-user support after the purchase of the license. There is no training either for Forescout. That's something that it's lacking. We need refresher training. The vendors came out and trained us whenever we first set up Forescout, but we have people coming and going all the time. There are some things that we wish that it would do. We use ACAS, which is a reporting tool that scans our network and then lets us know what kind of vulnerabilities are on the network. It would be nice if there was a way to connect Forescout. I know ISE connects with our configuration management tools to push patches and things like that out to a large array of machines. With Forescout, we can push some patches out, but it can't handle anything on a large scale. So, we wish that Forescout would be able to handle more and connect to some of the other tools that we use. We have 15 different tools that do pretty much the same thing but in a different way to get a good picture of our network. It would be nice if we can condense that down or have something that is a central hub-type tool that can reach out to some of our other tools, compile the data better, and have that data in one place.

The solution serves as a good tool and is very user-friendly
We use the solution for creating passwords and security scanning purposes The solution has been beneficial for our organization. The solution serves as a good tool and is very user-friendly as well. It has many features. We are able to identify vulnerabilities in our systems, and ways to fix…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup is easy, taking no more than two or three weeks."
"Emergency response, risk assessment information to get a view of the of the vulnerability."
"This is clearly the best product for the NAC use cases in this field for Forescout."
"The most valuable feature of the Forescout Platform it's highly customizable and flexible."
"Forescout Platform has granular features and one of the most impressive features is the agentless feature."
"The interface is easy to use."
"Obtaining visibility into the network and connected devices is very simple with this tool. It takes me three minutes to do a base deployment when all the parameters are available."
"Within three or four days, we have complete visibility of your infrastructure on the network. Compared to other solutions, the deployment of the solution is easier and we can close the project quickly."
"Tenable.sc is user-friendly."
"Tenable SC's most valuable features are the low number of false positives and the strong capability of providing prioritization for the vulnerabilities detected."
"We really love the Security Center dashboard. It basically performs vulnerability scanning and then outputs a vulnerability data."
"The tool gives us fewer false positives. Compared to its competitors, the solution’s reports are more accurate."
"Their overall cost of service is pretty good."
"The predictive prioritization features are pretty good. They do a lot of research and we trust the research that they do internally. They have knowledge of what's going on with many companies, where we only get a view into what's going on here. So the ability to get best practices out of them as part of this solution, is valuable to us."
"I think that this is a good solution for evaluating vulnerability in the network."
"Compared to other products, the most valuable features of the solution are its ease of use and ability to provide visibility over scan results while providing many templates to users, making it a helpful tool."

Cons

"Forescout needs to improve its cloud management and remote connectivity."
"Definitely, having more third-party integration would be an improvement."
"The initial setup was complex."
"When we automate an email to send to a user, sometimes it gets blocked, but that has nothing to do with Forescout. It depends on the mail gateway that we use or integrate with."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"Regarding pricing, there is room for improvement to enhance competitiveness with other vendors and solutions."
"They need to handle their Tier 1 cases differently. The biggest negative regarding Forescout is their support. Not having the ability to get instantly transferred to a support engineer for Tier 1 cases is pretty ridiculous."
"It's scalable, but not without a big investment. It doesn't do so well at the branch. At the home office, it does okay and not so well at the branch."
"Tenable has some problems with agents going offline during scanning and lag between agents and the security center."
"Tenable.sc's user interface could be improved."
"Support could be faster."
"The solution needs to improve its support. I would like to see a bird's eye view of my network architecture. I would also like to see the continuous view feature in the tool."
"We would like to see the inclusion of external IPs and simplified reporting that's easier to deal with"
"If I want to have a very low-managed scan policy, it's a lot of work to create something which is very basic. If I use a tool like Nmap, all I have to do is download it, install it, type in the command, and it's good to go. In Security Center, I have to go through a lot of work to create a policy that's very basic."
"The product could be user-friendly, and they could enhance the web application's security features."
"Tenable SC could improve by making the creation of the initial reports easier that correspond to our network."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We might have paid in the ballpark of $20,000 yearly for our licenses. I do not recall there being other fees over and above the standard licensing fee."
"The Forescout Platform's pricing is in the middle range, not too cheap or expensive."
"It's about $160,000, but I'm not sure how long that is for or what it includes. Because we were a test base, we were provided with servers, but now, Forescout wants us to buy servers because those servers are now end-of-life or end-of-service. For our lifecycle management program, in order to get a refresh on those servers, we would have to buy servers or use our own network resources to house Forescout. Forescout takes up about 13 or 14 virtual CPUs."
"The fact that we were allowed to spin up as many servers as we had need of to support our geographic requirements while paying for licensing as an enterprise truly set Forescout apart from the crowd and improved the way we could design our access."
"Devices with multiple IP's count multiple times against your license count."
"Forescout Platform is too expensive, so the price should be reduced."
"We need to pay for integration for each integration that we want to do and there is an additional license fee. This adds more costs. It is not something that anyone can afford. If you want to integrate this with a lot of other tools, it can be costly."
"The price of Forescout is reasonable when compared to Cisco ISE."
"We pay around 60,000 on a yearly basis."
"It is slightly more expensive than other solutions in the same sphere."
"The tool costs around 15,000 Saudi riyals monthly."
"Compared to other companies or other products it could maybe be a little bit less, but the price is okay. I would say it's not very expensive."
"I use a local license to perform penetration testing and I'm pretty happy with everything when it comes to pricing and licensing."
"It is a bit expensive. Everything is included in the license."
"Tenable SC is priced per asset, with the basic solution starting around US$12,000 for 500 assets."
"The pricing is more than Nexpose."
