Great for identifying application interdependencies with helpful support but needs better visualizations
We're just trying to identify the application interdependencies, which normally reside on different servers, including web servers, database servers, enterprise service bus, et cetera, up to your presentation layer before we start moving stuff around. Normally, the reason why we use these tools is to understand what assets we have, where they're deployed, and how they enter and operate before we decide to go move something from point A to point B. The solution is going to allow me to establish a wave or migration plan where you have different waves of migration and then you actually have move groups to try and get your application moved from A to B seamlessly. A to B could be on-premise to on-premise. It could be on-premise to cloud. Et cetera. The solution can tell me what components can I deploy, for example, into a cloud space, without having to refactor my applications since that can be quite time-consuming and costly.

Unified monitoring has improved event handling but needs stronger AI automation and modern dashboards
OpenText AI Operations Management could benefit from a fully integrated AI system, which we call AIOps. A fully integrated AI operations system would be valuable in the future. Additionally, the UI experience could be more comfortable. We are not using predictive features in OpenText AI Operations Management such as anomaly detection. In the future, we may be able to operate with our customer, but we need to decide this collectively. You need to see the big picture and understand what the customer's pain points are to find the right tuning. Normally, predictive features can be more useful, but this is an end-to-end solution that needs to be customized. You need to understand the exact customer needs. The predictive analytics feature is very close to being integrated, but it is not fully integrated at this time.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ExtraHop came out with the best price, and I think that it gives us a broader view of our network."
"We have been able to improve the mean time to resolution by several hours in some cases."
"Wire data analytics."
"Not only can you look at the protocol import level. It also has a live PCAP analysis."
"This solution is more applications reference architecture focused. Its benefit is that it specializes in that space."
"There are many valuable features in this product, but probably the biggest is the customization capability it has."
"The most valuable feature is the way it handles data, from Layer 2 up to Layer 7. We can see everything that happens in the network."
"The most valuable features are security detections, perimeter detection, dashboards, and alerts."
"We have worked now almost two years with OpsBridge and it is a very stable system."
"We switched for the added features, better scalability, overall experience, and better resolution to end of life issues."
"It's really the basis for everything we do for event management, for enterprise management."
"The biggest strength of the Operations Bridge is the consolidation of events from various sources."
"The correlation feature is the most used feature. It allows you to correlate events from different sources and have more meaningful events."
"For us, the most valuable features are the ability to identify IT issues in your estates and to be able to rectify them hopefully before they cause outages to services."
"OpenText AI Operations Management has an agent system where you can directly add plugins and collect metrics and logs, and it is really difficult to collect these kinds of things such as metric data with other systems, but it is easier with this platform."
"HPE helped us aggregate, and we now have all these layers in one layer, so we are looking at the service from the core of it, not from a resource perspective or from an IT, servers-based perspective."

Cons

"This solution would be improved if it had the ability to retain data longer."
"I would improve the Rule-Based Access Control (RBAC) by providing granular access control to the data."
"The improvement that would make the most impact would be expanding on the new EXA big data back end."
"Additional out-of-the-box solutions and use cases would be nice."
"We'd like to see a local presence within the region in order to have seamless service whether it's the support, the implementation, or professional services."
"We've had some struggles getting it to see everything that we want to see. Network visibility is something that needs to be improved."
"They either have to go broad or decide what their bread and butter is and get really good at that."
"The solution could get more aggressive in the discounting of the overall cost."
"Level 1 technical support is incompetent. I'm almost afraid to open tickets because I know I'll be asked the same thing 8 times."
"The initial setup is not exactly straightforward. It's complex as it's not just one product."
"The creation process is not as easy as expected, requiring multiple steps and can be quite complex."
"The technical support is normally very good, but occasionally patchy."
"There are a lot of locked files, about a thousand. You cannot always find the correct information to solve an issue."
"I think HP gives you everything you need, but they are not agile and innovative enough."
"The dashboards from OpenText Operations Bridge, when compared to those from Splunk, are less visually appealing."
"We are waiting for quicker release cycles. Also containerized upgrade, so that you don't have to bring a system entirely down to make a minor upgrade, in fact, or a minor patch."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this solution for our environment is about £650,000 ($855,000 USD) for three years."
"The pricing is higher than other solutions, but with such good features, I think it's worth it."
"The pricing is fair considering the value provided."
"Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
"As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
"Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
"It is competitive."
"The cost is very high."
"The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
"The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. Cost-wise, it's much more if you have more devices and features such as infrastructure monitoring, analytic dashboard, and business dashboard in your model."
