An excellent application with a strong use case
It is very intuitive and has improved significantly over the last seven years. Supports secure remote authentication and provides comprehensive user activity tracking
The most important feature is the security capability because it provides a substantial amount of security for admin-related activities. Fortinet FortiAuthenticator can be used from anywhere in the world, and the authenticator services function globally. This global accessibility is one of the critical advantages, particularly since admin features are critical and security is a real concern. With Fortinet FortiAuthenticator, secure usage of firewall services and related functions is achieved. A complete log of all users who access the authenticator setup is maintained. Monthly logs are reviewed to check for any unnoticed activities. Each authenticated user's complete activity history is recorded. This logging capability allows for providing access to more admin users while ensuring security is not compromised and all users can be monitored.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"It is very intuitive and has improved significantly over the last seven years. Its deployment is very enterprise-focused, and I hope it will eventually become cloud-based for easier connection through AWS or similar services. Currently, it's an excellent application with a strong use case."
"It allows for self-service which means quicker turnaround for end-user support."
"It has simplified network management, reduced operational costs, and ensured seamless connectivity across all our sites."
"The most valuable features are the performance and ease of use."
"The biggest advantages of Fortinet FortiAuthenticator are that it's easy to deploy, easy to manage, and the GUI is a very strong interface."
"The product is stable and reliable."
"In terms of benefits, the tool provides both cost savings and efficiency, but efficiency is more important for our customers."
"For FortiAuthentication, it's a good price in comparison to any other competitor."
"I like the self-registration capabilities."
"Technical support is excellent with Fortinet FortiAuthenticator."

Cons

"I would like to see EmpowerID move to the cloud to facilitate easier deployment and connectivity through AWS or similar services."
"Perhaps it is the way my organization has it set up but I would like to add people to more than one group at a time."
"Regarding Fortinet technical support, I would say a six. Most of the time, the engineer will take time, such as 24 hours or 48 hours, maybe even more, because most of the time, they appear, gather the logs, and then disappear."
"The technical support team is bad."
"I would like to see more ways to authenticate, such as adding facial recognition to the two-factor, where you log into your phone or another device."
"The product must provide 2FA for applications."
"If you want some other FortiAuthenticator from one site to another site, you should have requirements, but really if you have authentication and directory or another solution, you should change the password of the authenticator between the solution and the directory and other things. So transfer of data and other information should be simpler."
"Up to now, I would not recommend FortiAuthenticator to others yet as I have ongoing transitions and evaluations."
"There have been numerous support tickets sent to Fortinet since this does not appear to be a mature product."
"Technical support used to be much better. Fortinet seems to be downgrading, so everything takes longer to get a response in comparison to the past."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing is fair."
"I rate its pricing a three to five out of ten."
"The product could be more competitively priced."
"It is usually cheap. Without a license, you can use some basic features. You can buy a 20-year license and implement the solution once."
"I would start off with a VM including the base license and scale according to the number of users you need to authenticate."
"I would rate the pricing a four out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is not that costly. It is cheap, easy to manage, easy to install, and easy to configure."
"FAC is an affordable solution for Middle Range (200E/400E) and also needs a package of mobility agents (2,000) perpetual."
"The cost of the license could be less expensive. The license is paid on a yearly basis."
